Lakorns are not really comparable to KTC dramas for a lot of reasons. The culture in Thailand is really very different in a lot of crucial ways from other parts of Asia. The countries media is highly censored and not well funded. HD film quality is just a recent thing there. They are the Kings of the remake. I think it saves them on the cost of scripts and getting past the censors. In recent years there has been a big jump in tech quality of films but they are still years behind the rest of Asian for the most part. Karma also has a much bigger impact in the Thai culture and films.
That being said, I have always found the Thai language hard on my western ears so I have always made a habit of turning down the volume so the screaming females are toned down for me. Other Asian shows have these characters too, but they are always over the top in Lakorns.
The earlier version of this lakorn is called Bought Husband and it was very good. The main female character was not a total doormat which is always good to see. I am looking forward to watching this remake.
Previous version was realistic and character-driven, this version plot-driven with lots of stereotypical nang…
The earlier version was indeed a product of it's time. Everything from that period is over the top. I still will find it hard to beat. I'm I big K T & C Drama Fan and watch Lakorns because they are so different for a change of pace. I have watch a lot of the older ones and am coming around to watching the more recent ones again.
So is Luck and Mussaya technically cousins or I'm misunderstanding the synopsis? I havent started watching…
I think the Thai TV stations has such a hard time getting anything new past the government censorship and or maybe the industry was so poorly funded that they couldn't get new scripts. They haven't had HD but for a few years. They are definitely the Kings of the remake. One of my favorite Ngao Asoke 1999 has at least 4 other versions.
It should be good as it has a good cast. But like the original I think we will have to turn down the volume when the aunt and evil twins start screaming at teach other.

The original version is wonderful as Andrew G is so good, however it is always interesting to see have 10 15 years will change how same script is portrayed. I have watched the original and now episode 2 of the new and am not bored or feel slighted.
Can someone recommend a good lakorn I can watch? I'm loving or shoud I say aaddicted to lakorn right now

The best version of this lakorn is the 1999 or 1998 version. It relies on dialog and is excellent. I have watched it 3 or 4 times and still like it the best of all the older lakorns I have watched.
