It gets better starting with Episode 3. Fair point about CGI/VFX — it’s not very impressive, especially during…
Have watched through the first 9 and have upped my rating to 7.0. Yang Yang is doing a decent job of portraying our boy Han Li. It is following the novel fairly well in terms of story telling. The CGI is what brings the rating down as well as the sets. Hoping there will be improvement down the line.
After the first episode, am not totally impressed in any category. Sound is off every so often. CGI needed a bigger budget for the stamina of actors in the series. But will continue to watch only because I am also reading the novel and watching the Donghua. Positive points are that it was started from the beginning of the story and is following at an adaptation rate. Whether it will deviate is yet to be seen. This novel is not quite a romance so that angle needs to be kept on the back burner for those moments when it is.
At the end of the day this is the story of Han Li and his journey from mortality to immortality and everything he faces to get there.
Well this one looks like they're gonna focus on the romance..... ugh... Just when I think, finally a Cultivation…
Please I hope not, that does not work with the way the novel is written. Yes he has thoughts and does eventually love someone but the driving force behind his journey in becoming an Immortal is his obsessive fear of dying. If it becomes a rom/com, I will drop it like a hot potato and go back and read the novel instead.
This isn't the Iron Traingle that I know 🤷♀️ I felt that they didn't have any chemistry whatsoever 🥺…
Sadly it seems to be how his character has been written for this production. But you are right, WX is cheeky, mostly obnoxious and slightly narcissistic yet with a smile big enough to light up a room and we love him just the way he is.. totally adorable.
Not even sure what to make of this. Was thoroughly disappointed with Season 1 but had hope with this so called season 2. The graphics and costume design leave much to be desired. The actors do a decent job for what they are working with. What should be the hook is the actual storyline, again leaves much out, changes and condenses and that is the most off putting thing of all. Sad yet again. Time to go and rinse out my mind with a quick read of my favourite chapters.. 🤦♀️
The heck you talking about? S1 starring Leo Wu Lei only scored 4.4/10 on Douban. This S2 drama is Tencent trying…
It bombed because it veered too far from the source material. Having read all of the novels in this Universe not one of them has held any satisfaction in regards to how it penned the storyline.
I also live 'overseas' as you put it. Douban may not hold weight for you but for the reader it holds much.
As a standalone series that is there for the star power, visuals and graphics then yes it did what it was intended to do, make money.
Yet again we find ourselves here, expressing our dismay, shock, horror and outright injustice of it all.
Subjected to 19 hours of gruelling investigation by the police the day before. He tested negative more than once. Having his rights abused. The media adding to the crime by hounding and constantly preaching that he may as well be guilty. The fans abusing him mentally with their toxicity.
The man was cornered mentally and emotionally.
I have no right to admonish what took place since I am not a part of the culture. However as a fellow human being, I can add my two cents. When will the authorities finally take seriously these needless deaths. When will they take responsibility for their actions. Did they learn nothing from the Burning Sun.
A sad moment in time yet gain. R.I.P, my heart goes out to his wife and two children. Our support needs to be there for those he left behind...
I have read both your posts and also live in Canada. Yes, the west is a mess, you are absolutely right but i also…
Fellow Canadian from just outside of Toronto. Small town, yet the crime here has amped up in the past few years at an alarming rate. Drug use has especially taken many children. A harsh reality no matter where in this world you may live.
Currently reading book 7, bought the first 6, (always support the author) The most up to date and comprehensive guideline plus translations to the entire series https://merebear474765851.wordpress.com An amazing job by Merebear.
A passable whodunit with a decent cast. Well minus the wooden acting of Song Wei Long. The story line although somewhat cliché still held some unpredictability that made it better than others. The ending left an unsatisfied feeling that earned it a 'good one time watch 7/10'
