I would like to know who's making the posters lately, because there's no way a paid editor who'd create something like that. Moonlight Mystique, The Wanted Detective (to name a few) and now Blood River... I refuse to believe these are official posters and not fan made on a low quality app for mobile phones.
Well, I guess it was too good to be true that such kind of drama didn't have any trolls lurking around the comment section Fortunately, they've been few so far (easier to block) and most people here are actually kind, funny and mentally and emotionally mature enough to discuss about different opinions without getting offensive... which is also why I am enjoying this drama so much and I will miss this page once it's done airing Really, after FoF, this has been the most positive and pleasant page to comment on ever since I signed in on this site
Why the score is just 8.2, I think this drama deserves at least 8.5!!! Please give it some good reviews pals 😁
Trolls and it's not romance focused It should (hopefully) adjust to a more fair rating once it's done airing and more people watch and finish it But don't pay too much mind to MDL ratings, they are the most biased
He's grown into the character; that's a fantastic way to put it. And that's partially due to SMY transitioning…
I am, I am. I'm not missing a single episode with this one. But that's actually one detail that feels a bit off to me (I can't find a better expression for it). I won't spoil TBOY, but I'm curious to see how they are going to connect the two storylines and whether this whole journey to create his own identity and live as an ordinary person will feel like a waste or not, since how everything ends for him is already established in that other drama. That's probably the reason why I can't feel a continuity between this SMY and the other two. Knowing who and where he is in TBOY, it's like BR never really happened. I really want to see how they are going to tie this up.
Although I feel there was a much better character continuity from Cheng Hong Xin to Jiang Zhen Hao's interpretation of Su Mu Yu (they really felt like the same person shown in two different stages of life), I'm really loving Gong Jun's version of him. I know he basically has a whole fandom and casual watchers thirsting over his Wen Ke Xing (understandable, he was iconic), but I think I'm liking him as SMY even more, both because he's gradually growing into the character (first episodes he felt nearly robotic, but as we move forward, his subtle expressions feel a lot more natural and coherent with how he decided to portray him) and I just gravitate a lot more towards characters such as SMY. Su Chang He may be fun to watch, but Su Mu Yu just has that Something for me, especially Gong Jun's.
I thought I was too old to have a crush on fictional men... but here I am.
One episode only is its own kind of torture What even is this schedule?
On a positive note, I can't remember the last time I waited so impatiently for a drama to air new episodes and if it keeps that up, this is going to be one of my favourite dramas of 2025 and quite possibly one of my favourite in general If it does lose its way... I might actually shed a tear or two
oh shout out to yin tao btw for not using that extreme face smoothing filter. ts gives me an headache
Seeing skin texture feels almost surreal In some cases they used a little too much white powder make-up, but I love to see some normal, human and unfiltered skin on those characters Smoothing filters are just a big no for me, personally
I thought so too but I’ve come to see it as a bit of worldbuilding. That maybe in such a dark environment, assassins…
My problem is that I am still stuck with the way Dark River was presented in Dashing Youth and The Blood of Youth, so I'm struggling a bit to see them as the same organisation and characters from those two works (they had much plainer and practical outfits), but I also have to keep in mind that now they are the protagonists (pretty filter must be brought to the max) and it's just a trend of the latest dramas to have very rich in details costumes
There can be multiple reasons for that-1. It could be from the technical point of view. They already have a dark…
I didn't think about the technicalities of it, but now that you mentioned them, visually it makes a lot more sense, although it's only in recent years that costumes have become so detailed and enriched with all these beads, pearls, sequins and dangling bits and plainer clothes worked pretty well too (but the new styles are pretty gorgeous to look at, I admit, although they don't quite feel the same, I don't know how to explain it) I focused only on the worldbuilding and the coherence and practicality within that setting and I perhaps looked at it in a too much realistic way They'll still distract me a bit and I'll still think some of those costumes have a lot going on, but I can sleep in peace now that I know there's probably a technical reason behind it lol Thank you for your rich input
I have mixed feelings about the costumes. On one hand, they are very pretty and I love the dark palette and everyone looks great in them, on the other hand, I would expect something a lot more sober and practical from an elite of assassins and all those pearls and sequin and translucent layers take me a bit out of the story.
I believe they are the spy and enforcement arm of the organization. All the assassination jobs seem to come through…
I'm curious to see if we are ever going to find out their identities. They seem to have white hair, but sound young, although that's not much of an hint, when in that universe there are masks that make you look like a completely different person. Dark wigs shouldn't be too hard to come by, I suppose.
Who are the 3 with the hood and mask who are always in cave issuing orders. what is their purpose in Dark River…
From what I have understood, they are the ones that actually move strings in Dark River, issue the orders and just control people, so on and so on. So if this were a kingdom, they'd be the monarchs or, more specifically, the slimy and cunning advisor that controls the monarch. They kind of remind me of the mysterious figures that ruled the Wufeng in My Journey to You.
But I honestly can't take them seriously, because I keep wondering how they spend their day whenever I see them just sitting in that dark room all by themselves.
Just realised the actor who played SMY's father was the SMY in Blood of Youth...!! This casting must be done on…
I love that they are keeping this little tradition of casting the original actors from TBOY to play the parents and ancestors of the prequels protagonists More of this, please

At this point he should just retire the umbrella and serve his enemies a dinner.

The make-up is just bad.
