Am I really supposed to care about Mirr and Ogwi when the writers have put the minimum effort to flesh out their…
We really have no background of their love story. How and when they met? How and why did they even fall in love? Circumstances? A tiny build up to their romance and its consequences? Never heard of those. Were they lovers before or after the war? Who knows, the writers are probably as clueless as us. Given the characters themselves aren't even remotely outlined, their starcrossed lovers romance gives me nothing. Absolutely nothing. It's an empty subplot within and emptier plot.
it's the directing for me. first time kdrama director. the lack of experience/familiarity with kdrama shows.βΉοΈ
I'm not quite familiar with him and I have seen him in, like, three movies, two of which he had only a supporting role, but from what I have heard his "signature character" is a strong guy that knocks his opponents off with a single punch. Much like we are seeing in this show,
There's hope for a HE, but given GJM worked on this, it could very well be a vision/dream of the character that survived or them meeting in the afterlife. I wouldn't put it past him, really. He did something similar in an episode of FoF.
I know this isn't going to have redeeming qualities in the episodes to come just by the fact they randomly found one of the Soul Stones literally in the dirt. Literally just there in a junkyard floor. They didn't even have to dig for it, it was just like someone threw it there a couple of moments before. A thousands years old powerful relic. Found just like that. The screenwriters and directors don't care about the story in the first place, so why should I. Only reason I'm not dropping this is my incurable condition of not being able to drop shows.
Why do they include all of these eating scenes, what is their obsession with having them eat and indulge in pointless…
Sponsor deals, most likely They feel more "in your face" than usual (and that's saying a lot, given they always feel off in dramas), they're not well integrated with the scene at play, with the result of looking like an actual ad of the product instead of part of the episode Even the line delivery is so forced when they are praising it
I believe the main problem of this drama is its editing (I'll wait to comment on the writing itself, which is pretty weak at the moment, because we are only two episodes in and I want to give the show the benefit of the doubt). I was expecting pure trash, given the comments and one of the lowest ratings I have ever seen for a kdrama, but I think it's passable and it had (or still has, hopefully) potential. One of the biggest problems I have found in these first two episodes really resides in the editing. When they move from one character to the next, the scenes cut in a way so abrupt that all story flow is lost, it's like there is no connection between them. It really jumps from character A, to character B, then back to A (now repeat this for about ten different characters) in a very short span of time. The result is that I can't connect with any of the characters, because I'm not given the time to know them and for them to have depth. Another thing, also connected to the editing, but also with the writing, it's how they misuse the time of each scene (yet another reason why the characters feel so plain and one-dimensional). With eight episodes of 40-something minutes each, you really need to use that time the best you can, but everything is so slow and unecessary. The action scenes are not dynamic and the thugs they beat up nearly wait in line to get punched, there's no thrill and flavour to those sequences, most of the time they are eating and their shared moments feel rather forced and still, and they really focus too much time on those shots where one character stands and looks at the camera/in the distance with little to no expression. I know they might be silly details, but if you start using that second, that minute, for a shot, an action, a dialogue that gives some substance to the plot and to the characters, it can make a huge difference.
If it keeps this quality to the end, it might very well be the best drama I have watched this year. I never start a show with any particular expectations and it's too early to say for sure, but these first two episodes were amazing and got me hooked. I'm really looking forward for the next ones!
Are they going to call Mei Zhu Yu handsome and good looking every five minutes in every single episode or is it going to die down as the story moves forward? It feels every single character encountered in the first two episodes has said it at least once, at this point, and it's getting a little repetitive and annoying
I don't think it can be considered as a plot hole, but can someone clarify this part for me?Putting it on spoilers…
You know the earlier episodes, when the teachers had to vote for or against Ga-ram getting fired? And then they realised they would have to take the rugby team members in their own classes once they disbanded, so they voted to let him stay? Did they all forget about that detail? Why are said teachers yet again trying to erase the rugby team from the face of the Earth?
"The gunshot sound effects have more depth and substance than the characters and overall story itself." So I'm not the only one who's had this exact same thought, at some point. This drama had such a promising start, and then it just became the usual * gun gun, oh, look, Americans, violence violence * and I honestly don't know why I bother with this genre of kdrama produced by Netflix anymore
πππEdit: Me coming here every few days and seeing nothing π€‘
I check this page once every two weeks, to give them more time for a surprise or at least some news (double π€‘) I'm fine with a winter release, at this point, so long as it sees the light
maybe August (but melons say that since platforms can't do much marketing for idol dramas in Sep-Oct, they're…
It feels like so many dramas are getting delayed these days... or maybe I'm just waiting for the very small ones with low priority lol Thank you for the explanation!
