MDL's best feature is BLOCK. You can silence all the spoiler and hater trolls by just simply blocking them. Try…
The idea of blocking them never really crossed my mind, I feel pretty dumb lol But after I blocked a couple, the comment section became a lot more tolerable, so the trick worked!
I’m really sorry that all the crying and the fighting has made you put this drum on hold. I think you should…
I unfortunately tend to scroll down the comments, since I can check only once per day (life happens outside of MDL sigh) and I really see a lot of that... mess. I think I'll listen to your suggestion and start blocking left and right lol
Can I say? This comment section is not-so-lowkey ruining the drama for me, so much so that I had to put it on hold most likely until it's done. Whenever I'm following an airing drama, I love to stop by the comment section (almost daily) and read takes and opinions about x episode or x character or the general plot as it unfolds. I love it, I really do love discussing the drama with other watchers, but the Journey of Legend comment section is just not it. You either find nonsensical haters or blinded fans that don't really accept the fact that this drama has many flaws and isn't perfect - watchable, but not perfect - and hidden in between, a few people that actually talk about the drama objectively and want to discuss its pros and cons. I gave it a couple of days to see if this ridiculous war would die out, but I see people are still fighting strongly and it feels 3/4 of the comments are by now either attacking or protecting their favourite actor. At this point, I really wish Cheng Yi didn't take part in this project. First of all it wouldn't receive this much hate (hating a whole drama for one actor is pure nonsense, but alas) and, secondly, one would be a lot more comfortable discussing the weaknesses of the plot, writing and characters without the fear of getting labeled as hater and shut down by the fans of the protagonist. Because let's be honest, this isn't a gem nor the best drama of 2025 and without Cheng Yi it would probably be a mid Wuxia drama not many people would care about. It's not bad, but it wouldn't explode with popularity like, say, Mysterious Lotus Casebook or The Double. It just doesn't have that Something that will make it memorable among the countless others cdramas aired this year. And I know I'm asking the impossible, but can we leave the comment section of the drama for comments and discussions solely concerning the drama? If you want to fight fan wars (and I can't believe this seems to be the priority in life of so many people), please do so somewhere else and let this be a safe place for the drama itself. That's what it's meant to be to begin with.
The reviews have more depth and are a lot more entertaining than the show itself, so do yourself a favour and go read them instead of watching this one
To this day, this page is still the most welcoming and safe place among all the drama pages I dared visit and comment on in 2024/2025. They tend to shut you down and call you a hater/not so kindly invite you to drop the show if you so much as point out flaws and weaknesses of a show, because the fandom will protect their actor/actress to the death. But with FoF? I remember there were a couple of trolls, but everyone was so open to discussion and one could really and freely talk about things without fear. Everyone's opinions mattered and when there were disagreements, they were discussed in a mature way, with no not-so-subtle accusations. I loved visiting here and not once while writing a comment have I thought twice about doing so or feared the reaction of fans of x or y actor. So, yeah, this is a cosy place I find myself visiting from time to time and it's so lovely to see it's still active after a whole year.
I think the story would have been pretty much the same even if he was Xiao Qiu Shui from the beginning and not a modern man ending up in a novel. He didn't really panic or have a strong reaction at the idea of waking up in a martial arts novel and he got used to... everything in a matter of minutes, really. If it weren't for him making those modern drinks and the gas masks (how was he even able to build them?), nothing makes him stand out as a 2025 guy taking the place of a fictional character. He doesn't even have to learn how to fight and wield swords, because "muscle memory". I know it's pretty common for the protagonists not to question and freak out at being catapulted in the past or a fantasy world, but it always feels so off and in this case it wasn't that necessary nor brought much change. Unless something happens in the future episodes, up to the beginning of episode 8 (where I currently am at), the coming from the future/real world storyline brings nothing.
There's something I'm wondering about. In dramas like this, the actors are the main characters but don't have…
I'm not an expert of the behind the scenes, but I believe you have to take into consideration whether it's filmed on location (so weather, lightning and authorisations play a big role, also how long it takes to travel there) or in studio (where you can control more things), then you need to study the scene, where and how to work the cameras, lights and microphones, costumes and make-up (that can take hours and hours) and you usually need many takes to find the right one (perhaps the actor forgets the lines or can't express a feeling well). So there are takes, retakes and the script (or part of it, at least), can be edited or rewritten. And what you see in the final product can very well be only the 10% of what was actually filmed. They film many times, from different angles the same one scene and sometimes the actors don't even work on the same day or set, but then they put the shots together. Also, the scenes that are shoot but get cut out during editing for one reason and another also take a lot of time and the actors often need to dub their lines for better intonation and sound quality during the editing. Then you need to put the music, the special effects and filters, and put the episode/movie/tv show in the order it's supposed to have, because they don't film chronologically and on day 1 of filming they could be working on a scene of the season finale or the middle of the plot. That's what I know, but perhaps someone else can explain it a lot better. Hope it helped anyway!
I haven't touched fanfictions in literal years, but lately I am tempted to write for this drama just to give it proper structure. This had great potential and it was quite original too, so it's such a shame it ended up like that.
The progression of that scene was strangely edited. We know he was injured during the fight, but up until the sudden…
The plot (or what little plot is actually there to see and analize) stopped making sense a long time ago. It's like they released by mistake the draft of the actual drama and those episodes are just marks to help the authors and directors remind the main scenes and have a better idea of how it should be built and progress. I agree with you, and I got even more confused when they said Ogwi is human? Since when? And villain where? He was basically a puppet to the priest and served the only purpose of looking for the three stones, nothing else. If he knew he was being used, he never acted on that and actually got Samin to become powerful and immortal. I already commented on Ogwi somewhere down below, so I won't repeat it, but I really feel like there was no work on the worldbuilding and character writing. It's all so disjointed and empty.
I still don't understand why did OGwi made a bad landing? did he lose his wings already? I mean how and why did…
The progression of that scene was strangely edited. We know he was injured during the fight, but up until the sudden bad landing he was flying well. I think it was a cgi problem, where they couldn't edit him struggling.
There's one thing I don't understand much, so I need a little clarification.O-gwi. Why do they consider him the…
Yes, when they said that I got all the more confused. Either we missed something during the opening exposition scene of ep.1 or the writers forgot about the nature of their own characters. The priest is technically human too, but we still have no idea how he lived that long and could do all the things he's done for the past six episodes. He gave no answers when Marok confronted him about it, just stared at him in silence. Either we get a big revelation/plot twist in the last two episodes or this is lazy writing at its finest and the creators of this drama don't know their own work and characters.
The flashbacks confuse me so much, sometimes. They feel so disconnected and randomly placed.(Putting the rest…
There's one thing I don't understand much, so I need a little clarification. O-gwi. Why do they consider him the bad, evil villain? I should probably rewatch episode one, but I understood he was basically the Eastern version of Lucifer? Defying God, bringing darkness and leading an army of evil souls? But it's the Priest that controls the "demons"? And he wasn't even the one that killed the four Zodiac Angels? So why is he even their nemesis? He literally fell in love and protects an Angel. And he doesn't seem very powerful either, sharp wings aside. Math isn't mathing and I am confused.
If I had a penny for every scene in which they either sigh or get pensive (showed for every single character in a row), at this point I would be a millionaire.
A billionaire if we count the times they just stand and wait for the opponent to do their thing before or during a fight.
Exactly this I feel like I’ve been dropped into an ongoing series without knowing anything about the characters.
My feeling exactly. It's like this series has 16 episodes and we started it at episode 12 or 13, when they are wrapping up all the different subplots and storylines.
Is it more "mature" than MDL? As in, they purely talk of dramas, no fan wars and bias involved?
But after I blocked a couple, the comment section became a lot more tolerable, so the trick worked!

To put out this absolute, formless mess thinking they'll get a season 2...

I wonder how much lower it can get

Also... zombies. Humans are turned into zombies.
(Putting the rest of the comment in spoilers because it's ep.6 related)
