They weren't taking it srsly from the beginning(as they should) and said he'll join the shop anyway, like its a done deal. The father wanted to take a break as soon as possible and even said that, multiple times. In Jet's eyes that's subtle manipulation, something asian parents love to do, to make you do what they want, and not what you want. It kind of creates a pressure on you to follow along with them coz they would be happier if you did. That's why he had a crash out and said what he said to LJ at the time of the argument. I've faced this multiple times so ik all the signs that indicate this situation. Ofc Jet wasn't that talented to pass the audition but he could've been more realistic and actually set an aim that would be easier to achieve, so it is his fault but that's not what I'm highlighting here.

The parents are annoying too, always seemed clueless and never gave a reality check to the kids, like after knowing what Jet did just screaming for 2s at him is not going to do anything. It felt like they were living in their own world disconnected from reality..and LJ is the only parent in that family.

Regarding that ending scene, I actually remembered how they handled that scene in Friends, when Monica and Chandler had a fight and their trip was ruined, and Chandler came back thinking they'd break up but Monica said they did have the option of talking it out..which was something he had never done before. 'Welcome to an adult relationship'. I still remember that line and this just reminded me of how they can literally solve this thing by having a proper conversation but LJ kept being vague and just left..BJ is sad and teary..oh wait this is the SAME thing we've seen before. Tbh I wanted to see more complexity in his character, he was shown as this super powerful guy everyone's afraid of, but in reality turned out to be kind of reasonable. So many of us were hoping to see this master manipulator who changes his ways slowly after he meets L'Jane but that's not what we get..
Look..everyone saying what LJ did was right..yeah we understand that already but that doesn't mean we have to like it. He just proved that he hasn't changed much in the past 5 years, turned away the same way he had done before. Yes maybe this one is more personal and the reason is different, but that doesn't mean he has to completely step away? The way they ended the episode made it feel like they're breaking it off again. Instead of talking more about it or figuring out stuff he still went off without a reply. BJ asked do you promise to come back to me? He just said nothing and left. If someone did that to me I'd be super hurt and confused. Maybe communicate more? Since the moment they reunited it always felt like the relationship was unstable, coz they didn't talk about it properly and pretended as if nothing had happened before. That's such a stupid in our face indication that this fragile reunion isn't going to last long. I was hoping that won't happen again in the exact same way but it did.

OMG YESS I AGREE! Like atp why does he need to go away again?!! After saying all that before, he still did the opposite anyway and now P'Jane is sad boi. Again. Like did these two learn nothing?? Where's the growth and maturity that comes with age? Jet is so annoying I was thinking along the same lines as you..if he were in my family he'd be disowned so fast won't even have time to blink. And still so ungrateful after it all. One thing I did love was how they touched upon the topic of getting something too easily..you don't value it enough which makes it easier to lose coz you weren't worthy of it in the first place. How much of this lesson Jet has learnt is still a mystery tho.
