Okay, upon self-reflection, I tend to not be a quitter for multiple reasons: everyone in the world loved the show and I'm the only one that hated it (I, of course, think that I'm wrong in my thinking and must trudge on and finish it) - that's a lot of pressure! I also suffer from, "surely it will get better" syndrome. Then when it doesn't, I'm bummed because that's time I'll never get back. Then, there's "how can I write a review if I didn't complete it?" - It's not that I think that my reviews are make-or-break for anyone but myself - my memory is so bad that I write reviews to remember what I watched and what I liked or disliked about the show. Thankfully, I have enough shows that I've loved that I can re-visit them between shows that I didn't enjoy, kind of a K-drama way of palate cleansing.

There are some dramas that I have dropped simply because it wasn't the right time for me to watch them. I just…
You are so right about timing. When I first tried to watch Chicago Typewriter, I hated it with the heat of a thousand suns and only got through a couple of episodes. Fast forward a year, I don't know what made me try it again, but I absolutely loved it! SWDBS will always be one of my favorites! I think people might get put off by the "campiness" at the beginning of it.

Review Run On
So many reviews praised ML's acting. It seems like the character had asperger's; he never looked at the person…
I totally thought that too, but perhaps the issue could have been addressed? I guess my biggest problem was that I didn't feel real relationship development. Some of these dramas use up so much time with bickering and misunderstandings, that they bypass actual conversations between the characters that show why they like each other.

Great article! I agree with you for the most part. For a couple of those reasons, I tend to stay away from historical. Though the costumes are beautiful, I find them distracting. The men all tend to look alike to me. I like that the 2FL is not at mean as current dramas, I like them being more straightforward with their confessions, but I don't like tragic endings at all! I love Lee Joon-Ki, but I think it would kill me if I watched Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo! I just can't do sad endings, especially after investing in a couple throughout a whole series for them not to be together (I don't know if that's what happens in that drama, just an assumption). Another thing that historical dramas have is how beautifully they are filmed, the costuming, the sets, etc.

The only one I've seen on this list is Hinnari Girori no Yoriko-san and I found it to be a quiet and peaceful show to watch, with leisurely conversations between the two main people. Thank you for this list, I'm adding them to my ever-growing list of shows to watch!

Oh, thank you! Sometimes I feel like I am watching something completely different from everyone else and I start to question myself - "Am I the only one that just doesn't get it?!" If I can't like/root for the main characters early on, I really don't like it. I need to become more like you. There is something that makes me want to finish shows, even if I'm not liking them, thinking "it's got to get better", yet it never does! Then I'm mad at all the time I wasted.

So, you like Woo Do Hwan? I'm with you on that. He could stand on an empty stage and read the phone book and I'd pay to see it!

Terrific article. I love the main couple (I first saw her in Love Me If You Dare, and I loved her there). I SOOO appreciate their voices not being dubbed! Dubbing, to me, is very distracting. I'm finding some of the medical stuff difficult to get through because it's not altogether realistic, but I'm working to overlook that. If you like more action than romance, this is the show for you. 40 episodes is entirely too many and it feels like there is a lot of wasted time in the show, it could be better edited to give a "tighter" show. The scenes with the main leads are so cute and they have good chemistry, but since I'm all about the romance, I'm finding myself disappointed with this show.

She is excellent. I've not heard of the show you mentioned, I'll need to look for that. I'm sure you've seen Shopping…
I really didn't like Melting Me Softly.

I'll give it a try! I didn't actually care that much for her character in Suspicious Partner, I thought she was too "stalker"-ish. But ji chang wook? Oh my! I think my favorite work of his is Healer.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I'll be the first to admit I'm not about Wuthering Heights. I need me a happy ending, so even though I'm going to miss watching Lee Joon Gi, thanks to you I can look for something happier to watch. Your review was very intentional and specific, without giving much away, which I really appreciate.

as long as nam ji hyun is the female lead, the chemistry is guaranteed to be off the charts... i have seen 5 dramas…
She is excellent. I've not heard of the show you mentioned, I'll need to look for that. I'm sure you've seen Shopping King Louis? Her and Seo In Guk together? Doesn't get much better than that.

I gave up after the second episode and watched 5 minutes of the last episode. No amount of love for LJS and PHJ…
I'm so glad to hear I wasn't alone in this!!

Your words are true!! But i didn't like part where you told you didn't like the character of seo ye ji.well its…
Your point is well taken. I just didn't feel like they addressed her issues well. There are some (as she was portrayed), that have larger issues that either need counseling and/or medication. I felt that aspect was missing from her character. We're all "not okay" in certain respects, but when that behavior is a danger to others, I don't feel that the excuse can be given only that "we've all got problems". With that being said, I'm aware that this was just a show and everything couldn't be addressed, and the things that I said were only my opinions in reaction to watching the show.
