So if this is never going to be released, what’s the point of not leaking it?!! They’re not going to recover the money anyway. At least leak it so we can appreciate their hard work.
This isn’t really my genre and the lawyers’ conversations were going over my head 😭 Tbh I started this for Keita so I skipped and watched his scenes. He is really good in this btw.
The age gap isn’t the issue here. It’s that the female lead is 18 years old now, so she was even younger when they filmed this drama. I have no idea what the drama is about, maybe it doesn’t have any romance in it. If that’s the case, then it’s fine. If not, then what were her parents thinking?
I want a male character who is completely toxic, irrational, jealous, possessive, romantic, violent, yet also…
I've not read the synopsis as I want to watch it without any spoilers. But if his character is a massive red flag then I’m all for it. I want an unapologetically realistic ML for a change. But I’m sure they’ll dumb down the character and make him less toxic just to make it more palatable for the pearl clutching type of audience we have nowadays. It’s sad that we don’t get these types of MLs anymore.
I’m just ranting here, so don’t read if you can’t handle it lol.
This drama left me scratching my head. They built up this character as the “hero” of the story at the expense of the other main character....only for her to do absolutely nothing in the final battle. Or did I miss something? I did skip some parts so. I really thought she was going to kill everyone like she always does lol. They sacrificed the ML to uplift the FL all this time, only for her to be completely useless at the end. I’m confused.
And why the hell did the uncle and nephew start fighting each other when they were supposed to be dealing with the common enemy? They couldn’t put their issues on hold for a few minutes when there were clearly bigger problems?
Then there’s the main villain. He started off as a formidable character, but by the end....reduced to a pathetic lover boy! When it was finally time for him to act, he did nothing but simp. One second he’s standing there, and the next he just....falls to his death....by himself. But surprise surprise, he is not actually dead, because we have to get that aesthetically beautiful death scene in his lover’s arms to keep the CP alive. And ew their sex scenes, so unnecessary and revolting!
And don’t even get me started on the fearsome Marquis of Wu’an who once again fails to kill any major villain or any villain at all besides that coward eunuch smh. Sure they remembered he existed at the end and tried to make up for it by squeezing in more of his scenes, which honestly I would have lapped up earlier, but now it was too little too late.
I skipped the main CP’s romantic scenes as I wasn’t interested in them anymore. Their chemistry died a long time ago for me.
Ranting aside, this drama was a perfect 10 at the beginning, but sadly it went from so good to so bad that even when it tried to recover at the end, it still fell flat for me. The effort was there. The director knows how to make everything and everyone look beautiful. He knows how to start strong but fails to maintain momentum and finish properly. Who’s to blame for all this, the director, the writers, the editors....all of them? All the actors were great, no complaints there. Visually it was stunning, breathtaking cinematography, gorgeous costumes, designs, and hairstyling...The music was good too. It’s the first time I’ve found the voice acting in a cdrama to be on point, everyone sounded natural, even the kids.
I know it’s not fair to rate this drama just because the last 10 or so episodes were not good, I’m still conflicted about rating it properly. For now I’ll say 7/10, it may change later.
I think what people have an issue with is the lack of balance in character development and the ML being sidelined…
Yes we have 5 episodes left but honestly it’s too little too late for me. I just want to finish it because of ZLH. I’m just so angry at how they treated his character. I’m sure they cut out major portions of his scenes.
His whole goal from the beginning was to investigate and avenge his parents but now I don’t see what he’s up to.
Oh the earlier episodes were so good! They were so perfect together. Now I don't even feel their chemistry. Sad how it turned out now.

I don’t get it. What does it hurt to make BOTH ML and FL take centre stage? Why are these writers/director so stupid? They ruined a perfect drama with this bs. They boost the FL at the expense of the ML and end up making both characters suck. Seriously what a waste.
What made it bad for you , for me it was that characters such as emperor and qimin got too much screen time ,…
Ngl some of his scenes were quite repetitive. And I don’t get the obsession. He’s terrible to everyone except her and she’s not even reciprocating. Just let it go bro. I don’t like men simping, and here both the ML and the villain’s personalities revolve around simping.

Writing, editing, flow all went downhill. ML was reduced to a minor character, FL lacked authentic development, likeable characters became annoying. Yes far too much screen time was wasted on unnecessary things eg emperor. Qi Min is ok for me, he is the main villain after all.
I agree. It was perfect until around ep27.The main issue is they stopped following the original story. I know…
Yup this is what happens when you try to make a character so unrealistically perfect that they become unbearable, and you achieve the exact opposite effect. Sad they ruined an already good character.
