I recently had time to finish S1 too and was so excited to watch S2 given the chemistry between the actors in…
Yes! I agree, the Ning Que cast change was done poorly. The new actor completely fails to portray Ning Que in the calm, cool, and confident manor as season 1. Season 2 Ning Que is not confident and acts dumber.
in the mortal realm they are together happily, but both don't know each other's identity. they don't actually get together until the very end of the last episode, but they still never got married in the immortal realm
Is this drama worth getting past the baby voice used for the FL? Listening to a child's voice talk to a man's…
So I forced myself to continue watching it in spite of my revulsion with the voice used for the FL. Eventually they do allow her to speak less like a child and finally as a mature adult, so at least it did not last the whole series. The reason I really pushed myself to watch this was because the visuals of this drama are incredible and the story is interesting. I did end up enjoying this drama a lot, so I would recommend watching it muted for the first several episodes of you also find the voice extremely off-putting. This is a visually beautiful drama that tells and interesting story.
I think your review is the most accurate in describing the good and bad about this show. I had the same watching experience as you. I detested the dynamic of a strong Bai Qian when bullying the female villains, and an excessively meek girl when around men. She literally dips her head and rolls her shoulders forward, cowering when she is with Ye Hua. Since the actress does a good job of portraying a strong, wise, no-nonsense goddess, I can tell her meek behavior in other scenes was intentionally directed and not her fault.
The most disturbing scene between Bai Qian and Ye Hua is when he lies on top of her and in an instant removes both of their clothes with magic. Even if we know Ye Hua loves her deeply and Bai Qian has loved him in the past, this moment is still disgusting.
I skipped all of the Dong Hua, Feng Jiu scenes after it became clear early on that it would be a very off-putting, unhealthy and frustrating dynamic between the two. If they wanted a side couple to take up so much screen time, it really should have had some enjoyable elements to it.

Couldn't make it through episode 3. The lead actress does a terrible job. There is no chemistry between the leads. The bad acting and script make this love story unbelievable and laughable. The ML hurts the FL but she says she knows he's a good man? Based on what? She goes from despising him because of his job to saying he is a good man in 1 episode. The acting and script don't support that kind of jump. Then, during some banter with the ML, she bursts into the most fake tears ever and suddenly launches a verbal attack on him. Up until that point, the FL was portrayed as a no-nonsense, capable business woman. But now she has a tantrum out of nowhere and says all men are bad...wtf?
It doesn't make sense when you think about it. People experience similar and worse upbringings and do not turn out like Llhong. While Llong may offer an interesting look into psychology of this type of person, it doesn't mean there is room to pity him or say that what he did is because of his upbringing.
loads of children have similar and worse upbringings and do not turn into an evil person like Llhong. There is no room for pity for any human like this. We all learn right from wrong from society and schooling.
It's frustrating when it seems like a BL is getting it right by having a character that's just outright gay from…
To be fair, most female characters are portrayed exactly the same, overly loud, annoying and predatory. I think it is more to do with the cultural stereotypes of women being transferred to portrayals of feminine men.
