this was light and fluffy much like the Japanese version. I appreciated several changes made to the Thai version that suited the story better. the acting here was a step-down but that was expected. sometimes, New's acting struggled to show romantic love instead of close friendship. but overall, the dialogue in this one brought the "awww" a lot more and it's definitely enjoyable.

Thai bls often role model how good parents should react. while showing realistic responses has its own place, showing ideal responses is a helpful guide for parents who feel clueless in how to handle the situation.

yeah your usual comfort is definitely based on the culture you grew up in. many americans find it creepy and cold when strangers never smile to each other whereas other cultures view easy smiles as fake and threatening, like they are about to get scammed or recruited into a cult 😂

watch and see for yourself if you can handle it and still find the romance between them cute. everyone has their own history with watching dramas and their own mood. the first episode should let you know.

I think Joong's acting makes Dunk's look worse. when both leads are average actors it becomes less noticeable (like many thai bls).

right, the "steamier" jbls tend to be focused on toxic relationships, whereas healthy relationships are depicted with simple kisses. I think I read somewhere that it's the preferred style of Japanese dramas. "gritty, dirty, steamy, toxic" are one "style" and "healthy, light, and fluffy" are another. mixing these styles isn't common, although that could change if they want to cater to international audiences.

I didn't notice anything weird about the dialogue. expression-masking is a hallmark of Japanese dramas. extreme emotional expressions and outbursts are usually reserved for dramas mimicking anime-style characters.

for me, this was one of the more enjoyable JBls. it's a typical Japanese BL with a low-key love story between two world-weary souls. it also highlights toxic work culture and how the younger generation should address it.

jdramas are definitely their own beast and can be harder to get used to for a lot of westerners. as someone struggling with the pointlessness of life, I personally find jdramas the most difficult to watch but occasionally I find them comforting.

it did put too much focus on the toxic work culture without making it meaningful and was a bit short on the romance at the end

I also enjoyed the lack of "ehhhh?!" reactions 😆😂
