The Fei family was incredibly annoying in this episode — especially Fei Ting. He was shading Muyang for being…
I haven’t watched episode 17 yet, but I’m about to be pissed the fuck off if that incompetent excuse of a man shaded Muyang. Imagine being so useless that your sister and brother in law had to scrimp and slave to get a fking tv in that era to get you a job, yet your ass still couldn’t do it and relied on your little sis to do it for you. Lin Mei’s parents wouldn’t have even given him the time of the day without that job and the furniture that Muyang STILL helped him to build. The only thing he knows how to do is act like a doofus. I just hope I don’t start disliking his character cos being nice is one thing, but being stupid is an entirely different scenario altogether. Let me just get to that part.
Noo she actually cares. It just that some people grow up while having to hide their feelings and show a strong…
I don’t think age or responsibility has anything to do with this. In my opinion, Fang Muyang is even more resourceful and mature than his sister, it’s just that they have polar opposite temperaments and personalities. When Fang Muyang still didn’t have his memories and they thought he would be like that forever, his sister basically wanted to send him to a mad house, and she would have done it if the FL didn’t talk her out of it. In a way, you could say that’s Mujing’s only way of taking responsibility, but do you think fang Muyang would also drop her in a mad house if she was in his shoes then?
I don’t think Mujing is a bad person at all, especially compared to that malicious Feng Lin. I just think she has a rather cold personality and she is so overly lazer focused on academics that everyone else and everything else takes a back seat, including her family. There is no balance at all. It’s not fun being related or marred to such a person. I mean, Fei Ni is also obsessed with her education and going to university, but we still see her sacrificing for her brother.
Noo she actually cares. It just that some people grow up while having to hide their feelings and show a strong…
Wishful thinking and Fang Mujing shouldn’t be used in the same sentence. Girlie is extremely smart and clear headed. She avoided Qu Hua initially because she usually keeps a low profile because of her family background. She only willingly approached him once her friend told her about his family background, then agreed to his proposal after 3 hours despite barely knowing him. I mean, her professor even warned her to investigate his past before marrying him, but she said she didn’t care, and instead asked if she could rejoin the project after she was married. The only reason why she agreed to marry him in the first place is because his impressive family background will make up for hers and further her career prospects. I actually don’t mind it, since the Qu Hua only asked her to marry him since she looked like his ex. I just don’t get why she is getting infantilized and the blame is pushed solely onto her husband.
Noo she actually cares. It just that some people grow up while having to hide their feelings and show a strong…
Fang Muyang came from the same “rather poor” background but he is so kind and selfless. Also, he never cut ties with his family even though they were blacklisted. Mu Jing agreed to marry Qu hua despite barely knowing him because of her own selfish reasons, so it’s not like it’s one sided. They both got married for the wrong reasons.
Still not sure of what to make of Fang Mujing and her husband, Qu Hua. They got married for the wrong reason, but I think the husband has come around, and is falling in love with her. But idk if she even likes him. Gotta admire her headstrong commitment to her education atp. She didn’t even tell him before agreeing to move to a completely different city for a job assignment. Idk where their love story (if I can even call it that) is headed currently.
Fei Ni’s father is hilarious. I can’t believe he ended up getting drunk himself and spilling all his guts to Fang Muyang. But their FIL-SIL bonding session was so cute!
yess but she said she did not marry him for love,She is using him aswell
If she wanted love, she wouldn’t have agreed to basically marry a stranger within 3 hours of marriage proposal. And to think her professor even warned her.
One funny thing about this drama is that almost every female character is a schemer, including the FL. Some are scheming for the right reasons, and others for the wrong reasons, but they are all scheming nonetheless. Lol
Caught up with episode 7, and I have some thoughts about the sister of the ML. I just don’t like her character right now. I understand that she was put in a complicated situation because of her family and had to make selfish decisions to continue her studies at the university, but I just find it hard to warm up to her.
She definitely has her difficulties considering the times, so I don’t think she is a bad person, but I don’t see her as a good person either. It doesn’t help that she has such a selfless brother like the ML who risked his life to save strangers and even gave up his university allocation for another person.
Even the brother of the FL happily sacrificed a stable job to go work in a hardcore place just so his sister won’t have to suffer. So, it makes her character a bit complicated seeing that she was even willing to put her brother in a mad house because she was trying to distance herself from her family. I’m pretty sure the ML would never do that if he was in her shoes, so I can’t reconcile with her decision.
Also, I don’t understand her deal with the doctor. It made sense that she avoided him initially because she has to keep a low profile to avoid being linked with her family. But I don’t understand why she immediately decided to approach the doctor when she found out that he comes from an influential family background. She knows the doctor is interested in her. Does she think his dad, who is a senior military officer, won’t do a background check on her if things got serious between them? Frankly curious to see how things play out for her.
The drama is an underrated gem. I don’t really watch modern cdrams, except L&P, so I decided to start this one for Chen Feiyu but everyone is genuinely killing their roles, and I can’t drop it now!
Ugh the Crown Prince is proving to be just as irritating as his father, if not worse. His incompetent ass needs to be humbled too, if there is ever a second season.
Damn the way she killed the villain was so satisfying!
Bai Lu’s acting is amazing. You can see her automatically become lighter after killing the villain and sounding off the Emperor, he almost convulsed with anger..lol. Li Peiyi and Huiajin playing in the snow is so cute!! I love them sm!
Episode 31: It’s kind of ironic Li Peiyi told the little boy that “Killing is not the only way to seek vengeance”. It must have been shocking to her to see the little boy so consumed by thoughts of revenge. His situation really paralleled what happened to Li Peiyi. It’s so sad. Sometimes, we think our way is the only way, seeing others in our exact situation really helps us gain clarity on what to do, or not to do.
i had to laugh in ep 29 when huaijin said peiyi isn't the type of person to kill someone and still sleep at night,…
The Right chancellor murdered the Emperor’s brother’s whole family and basically got off with a slap on the wrist. If Consort Shu, the villain’s own sister was confused with the decision, how much more the ML. The truth is that If Peiyi had murdered the Right Chancellor, the Emperor would have killed her too, using the stability of his court as an excuse. I wonder if the Emperor is not the actual villain. Almost every case in the palace that went wrong, especially regarding women, could be traced back to him.
I just watched the red wedding and I have so many thoughts. First, people blaming the ML for stopping her revenge are being obtuse. I don’t even blame the girl for going crazy and wanting to murder that evil Right chancellor, but poisoning the uninvolved nobles who came for her wedding is insane. If she had succeeded in killing the right chancellor, the narrative that her father went mad and murdered his family would never be resolved. Hell, people would have even said he transferred the mad gene to her which is why she poisoned everyone at her wedding. Even in real life, embellished lies are always more interesting than the truth and that’s what people will forever know her family for. Not to mention, she would definitely die afterwards, especially with censorship rules.
A classic example would be the drama “Blossom”. Before reincarnation, the ML killed his father to exact a just revenge for his mother and uncle. Yet, he was vilified for it by the whole country, and he ended up dead. After reincarnation, the Fl did everything she could to stop him from making the same mistake, to the point of even grabbing the sword with her bare hands to prevent him from stabbing his father. So I don’t get why some people are mad at the ML. He couldn’t even complain his engagement to her was used as a ruse to draw out the villain yet he is blamed for preventing her from eventually getting herself killed, and having her name tainted forever. Idk about y’all but after what the Fl has gone through, I want her to absolve her father of blame AND live happily ever after.
Most dramas that have this revenge plotline and eventually end happily, like legend of zang hai for instance, the main leads use complicated plots to ruin their enemies, and they still have a life after. The only exception I can think of is love like the galaxy, but the ML left NO witnesses. Besides, the revenge almost ruined his relationship and the couple suffered a lot and separated for a while before they got back together.
Peiyi has suffered a lot and her anger is completely justified, but I hope she and Huaijin stop with the stupid noble idiocy and quit keeping secrets to “protect” the other, and come up concrete plans to eliminate the bad guy. If they can even add that useless emperor for good measure, they would be doing unfortunate women and the citizens a favour.

Fantasy Cdrama - WDBTD, Moonlight mystique.
Modern Kdrama - Death’s game, WLGYT, Tempest.
Costume Kdrama - Mr Queen, Alchemy of souls.
