When the drama was first released, the FL said it was a happy ending though? Also the novel had a happy ending too. Special episode or not, let’s just be glad it ended happily.

Exactly what i’m saying. So far, JL isn’t even as ruthless as she could be. The step mother for eg got off very lightly imo.

Let’s agree to disagree, but I personally don’t blame her for that. What you are doing is putting the responsibility of Wanning’s evil on JL’s head. Yea, JL laid a trap for her and she fell into it, but her actions after is all of her own doing. If Wanning chose to keep the doctor alive, JL won’t kill him either.

JL is not a saint and she is not trying to be one. This is a revenge and retribution story, so there is always going to be some unintentional collateral damage. You won’t expect the MC to carefully plan out a revenge and consider every variable under the sun, that’s
unrealistic.

JL’s plan is simple, give the princess a fake pregnancy drug so she will be forced to expose her affair with SYR. Ideally, this plan is supposed to be fool proof with no one getting hurt. If the princess chose to kill her loyal aide, that’s on her, not JL. Also, when the princess “miscarries”, she will probably be even more ruthless, are you going to also blame JL for her actions then?

This is a revenge story. It’s impossible to get revenge on someone, especially someone as powerful as princess Wanning without collateral damage. Considering what Wanning did to her unprovoked, she should be even more ruthless.

Also, not sure why JL is getting blamed here when it was Wanning who chose to kill her trusted aide. JL is not a magician to calculate every variable, she literally just gave Wanning a fake pregnancy drug, then sat and watched. Every action that took place after was planned by SYR and Wanning.

Most of the villains in the show are written to be nuanced and multidimensional as opposed to being caricature villains with no dimension to their character. It’s understandable to empathize with their suffering, like Wanning for instance, but showing their backstory is not an avenue to excuse their wrong doings, it’s rather to contrast how each character chose to handle their trauma.

Almost all of the main characters, both antagonists and protagonists, had major traumatic events in their lives, the difference is in how they handled it and treated other people. Some people chose to rise above it and strive for better, while others chose to hurt innocent people.

Why will the grandad not try to seek justice if his son was wrongly murdered? He was certainly powerful enough to do so.

I’m really curious about the backstory between XH and his granddad. I lowkey felt bad when XH was so cold to his grandad when he came to visit, maybe ah li will help reconcile them? I don’t think the grandad will intentionally cause the death of his son, so what’s all the secrecy about?

I hope the emperor and XH make up soon, I love their bromance so much..I also don’t think XH will sit still at home…I wonder if they are putting up an act for the public again.

I know Li Jin is an incompetent scum but being saddled with Princes Wanning as a wife is a cruel punishment 🤣. Seems like his brother who became a monk was the lucky one after all.

Am I the only one who thinks WXY also has chemistry with the actress playing Jiuyue? Their friendship is so cute. Also, not him emotionally blackmailing her with his death to get her to turn down the marriage proposal..lol.

I don’t think anyone is supporting Wanning, no one normal at least. I think people just feel empathy for her suffering as a hostage princess while also agreeing that she deserves whatever revenge XFF is meting out to her. I also don’t think XFF is aware that Wanning can’t bear children anymore, regardless of everything, her revenge is fully justified, after all Wanning ruined her previous life unprovoked.

SYR with his dead eyes and perpetual ”I’m so pitiful” face? The actor nailed his role so well that I only feel like slapping him when he comes on screen.

Deserved! He killed that role.

But Princess Wanning is directly responsible for the state of her father and brother currently, so JL’s revenge is fully justified.

I think XFF also had better support system after her trauma. The real JL saved her life, then she met XH who always supported her till they fell in love with each other. She also has her close friends and cousins who adore her. Wanning never really had a true friend, well… she was the architect of her own misfortune by falling for a married man so I can’t pity her in that aspect, but I wonder if she fell in love with a single, upright man, even after her past trauma, would she have turned out better? Or she would have still been a psychopath?

He is a pathetic coward and a perpetual victim.

SYR is getting more manipulative and devious. Even if he doesn’t love the princess, it’s insane how he will let his first child have another father to protect his worthless reputation.
