I felt terrible watching Wanning’s sufferings. I can’t imagine the pain she felt. Imagine being a hostage princess in a foreign country, being raped repeatedly causing multiple miscarriage to the extent that she can’t get pregnant anymore, being beaten so many times, forced to live with animals…who wouldn’t become crazy with that sort of inhumane treatment.

It’s definitely not an excuse for her to be so cruel but I feel so bad for her. She needed intense therapy but since it didn’t exist in those days, she used cruelty as an outlet for her past suffering. Now I understand why she keeps saying Great Yan country owes her a lot, and why the emperor overlooks her excesses, they actually do owe her.

I’m so happy for WXY, he really killed his role especially when you consider that he had significantly less screen time compared to the fl.

I also think no one expected XH’s character to blow up so much, although this is a largely female centric drama, a lot of fans are watching for the ML too, though he doesn’t appear nearly as much. If they had known his character would be popular, he would have had more scenes. A good way to solve this is to release express episodes dedicated to their lovey dovey married life. I think that will placate viewers a lot more.

Episode 36 trailer, why is the emperor fighting with XH again?

I agree that they could have done so much more with their CP, even with international viewers, having decent romantic scenes is such a huge bonus to a drama. But it’s not hampering my enjoyment of the drama though, their CP pairing is just too good regardless of the extreme slow burn romance.

The maid was the one who poisoned consort Xian, so she is not innocent. As for consort Li, she may receive retribution later in the drama.

lol..tbf LYF is a huge star so I’m not surprised that her comeback drama is doing well. The Double in comparison is the dark horse drama of 2024, no one expected it to do this well, and the fact that it blocked tale of rose from no1 for so long is a huge achievement already.

That fake play between XH and the emperor is probably the most adorable thing I’ve seen in a drama..I really love heir bromance..lol

He is more disgusting. At least Wanning owns her Villainy, however SYR is a perpetual victim, it’s always everyone’s fault except his, he lacks self awareness, accountability and never takes responsibility for his evil actions. These type of people are the worst irl! They will do evil and never take accountability but rather blame everyone and everything except themselves.

We have some characters in this drama who were blackmailed, but they chose to die than do the wrong thing, yet at the first sign of the trouble, that weakling tried to murder his wife and he had the gall to ask for her hand in marriage a second time, then accuse her of being a gold digger when he discovered that she moved on with a much better man. Wanning is much better than him atp.

Men like SYR who are weak cowards with a perpetual victim complex are the worst! How dare he suggest that JL is with XH for his social standing? He was even gloating about XH’s potential capital punishment after the emperor discovered he exchanged the longwu army for her. He is so disgusting and he lacks self awareness.

JL’s dad with the flower on his head at the beginning of episode 34 was hilarious. 😂

The way Ah Li ran to XH, and then they held hands in the carriage..XH was clutching onto her hand for dear life, he didn’t want to let go. They are too cute!!

Huh? The candle is the real villain but there is no way the sexual tension between XH and JL can be seen as a sibling relationship. That’s actually a worrisome statement lol. Even if they didn’t have any kiss scene in the whole drama, their chemistry is still a lot stronger than a lot of dramas with heavy tongue action.

It’s really frustrating but WXY was like 20/21 when they filmed this drama, if they had intense kissing scenes, i guess Cnetz would have been in an uproar cos of the age gap. It’s a good thing their chemistry is so good that their non kiss romantic scenes are still so impactful.

She is only human but she was reckless so it’s okay for people to point that out.

Her actions are pretty consistent to her character and the way she is written, so it’s not a case of poor writing, just that people are frustrated at her poor calculation and reckless moves. I mean Duke su got mad too.

XH should invade the eldest princess chambers to save XFF’s brother? On what grounds? Lol. The capital security office that he took over in episode 30, was because an assassin tried to assassinate the princess of greater Zhao, and he used the Longwu army to do that. That was what it took for just an office controlled by the princess.

Now to invade the chambers of the eldest princess, who sacrificed herself as a hostage to a rival kingdom to ensure peace in the country and whose brother is faithfully guarding the border of the country (at least in the eyes of the people), what do you think it will take? If XH tries to invade her chambers without sufficient justification, king cheng won’t even have to plan a rebellion, the people will rebel themselves and kick the emperor out. That is the reason why the emperor and XH have been tiptoeing around Wanning and cutting off her and king Cheng’s support before they can deal the final blow. It’s also the reason why XH kept telling JL to not use herself as bait.

Tbh, JL’s recklessness is part of her character cos she is only human, but it’s also her major flaw. Without XH, she would have been long dead. I just wish she would be a little bit more careful now the stakes are rising and they have a threat of rebellion right at their doorstep.

Jiang li Jiang li…now you are trapped. This was why Duke Su was so pissed and honestly he is right. He has been dealing with schemers and corrupt people for long which was why he told her never to use herself as bait or put herself at risk in her schemes. Now she recklessly used her reputation and trapped SYR to trigger Wanning, unfortunately she completely underestimated how unhinged Wanning is. Did she think it would be that easy to deal with Wanning when even the Emperor has to thread lightly with her? I wonder how she will get herself out of this…she didn’t think it through at all. This is so annoying.
