Duke Su is an Imperial duke. His father was a very high ranking general too.

Duke (公 gōng): Typically family members of the emperor from changes of lines within an imperial house or between dynasties. One may also gain the title of duke upon marriage i.e. a princess’ husband may be awarded the title of Duke.

It will definitely come in due time but you have to remember the romance is slow burn, although they are clearly attracted to each other.

In episode 22, when JL told XH that she wasn’t leaving Dingzhou because Magistrate Xue didn’t want to leave, and XH replied “Why listen to someone who is not in his right mind”. She chided him then, and he didn’t mind at all, but I think he said that intentionally….because later on he reminded her to remain calm, because she was too emotional when it came to her father and she wouldn’t want to give people more cause to question her identity. This advice really helped her in court because she used reverse psychology by calling her father a criminal to prove his innocence.

His aura, presence, charisma, smouldering gaze, voice, micro expressions, mannerisms, loooksss are completely top notch. He actually doesn’t have a lot of screen time generally speaking in this drama, because it’s female centric but whenever he appears on screen, he makes such a lasting impression and that’s all you will think about.

Episode 24 trailer is quite interesting..XFF has mastered the art of getting XH to do what she wants and he can’t even question her..I wonder who is the”pawn” actually at this point lol.

Also that “go get her for me” is so intruiging..this drama is really addicting.

From the trailer, it seems like the prime minister knows or at least suspects she is not Jiang li. It also seems like King cheng has started making his moves..is the step mother with him too? I’m having a headache...

How is episode 24 and 25 trailer even more intense than the last. I don’t know who advised me to start this drama while it is still airing..my BP is rising with each trailer.

You need to watch the scene with the stepmom and grandmother.

It’s not that her father doesn’t give a shit about her but the case was affecting the whole family, and they knew the Li family wanted to use that opportunity to get rid of Jiang li’s father.
Also, If JL spent the night at the prison, it would harm the reputation of the young girls in the family, particularly her daughter Ruoyao, so she had to go fetch her from the prison.

On a lighter note, I love how XFF scolded XH in front of other people, everyone was in shock while he was slightly smiling, he really loves being scolded by her. He got his revenge by affectionately tapping her forehead with his fan..they are too cute!

I wonder which piece of his personal clothing item he will give her next..

He has already given her his cloak, his undergarment, his handkerchief (which she embroidered and returned to him), and his winter cloak (I screamed when she wore it to meet her step mother, it looked so regal on her).

Maybe he will give her his fan next? Lol

We don’t have details of the princess’s back story yet, but we know she has strong ties to King Cheng, who poses a threat to the kingdom, and she was also a political hostage at some point, so she does have some power but we don’t know how much.

It’s possible the emperor and XH are playing the longer game of “keep your enemies closer” by ignoring her antics so they won’t give King cheng a reason to strike before they are ready, while trying to uproot king’s cheng’s roots in the kingdom - hence why XH was investigating the illegal salt trading case, the assassin training centre in Luyang and the illegal gold mining case, All these were avenues to raise money by the corrupt Li Family and the slimy princess for King Cheng’s plans to overthrow the emperor.

Also, since the princess was a political hostage and “sacrificed” for the kingdom, she is given a bit more leeway. Although, I think her antics are a tad bit exaggerated.

I feel like king cheng may even have a hand in Duke su’s father’s death. I hope we get more details as the show continues.

The way I rolled my eyes..it’s now impossible to sympathize with him now that we know he was privy to the princess’s evil plans all along.

Her identity getting exposed has always been what I was most worried about. In the novel, the transmigration trope eliminated this threat but in the drama, it could potentially unravel everything she has achieved and maybe even earn her capital punishment. At first, I was thinking if the illegal gold mining case got exposed, she would earn a merit that could offset her identity theft. But I’m not so sure now, the villains esp the princess is too powerful. Also, the emperor and XH seem to be playing the long game because of potential rebellion from King cheng.

I just hope XH anticipated this occurrence and prepared a back up plan for her. And that scum SYR had better play along and sheath his rabid dog princess so that my girl doesn’t get caught in the crossfire. As it stands now, it benefits her more to remain the daughter of the prime minister. Where are the previews ffs?! 😩😭

The cliffhanger?! Wtf. Are the previews out? Can someone shut that slimy psychopath princess up once and for all? XH please take one for the team and do it..I’m so tired of her! I hope her affair with that scum SYR gets exposed.

This whole trial kept me on my toes and I’m not even done yet.. Not sure how much more my heart can take..this arc is so engaging!

I can really understand why XFF got attracted to XH. Although he is powerful and dangerous, he always helped her to achieve what she wanted even if he had his own motives for doing so. From the beginning, he helped her get back to the Jiang family, even provided his entourage to escort her back, then he helped her win the school competition, helped her with the ye family case and now with her father’s case.

In contrast, she was always the one sacrificing for her ex husband, from pawning off her mother’s locket to selling her guqin to help him prepare for the imperial exams. Even his acclaimed book was because of her idea, plus she had to pander to his overbearing mother and bratty sister. This drama had better have a good ending because my girl deserves a break.

Rewatching the shirtless waterfall scene again..and I’m so in love. She keeps insisting on “giving him her life”..smart girl. She knows he will never hurt her cos her life is his to protect.

The piggy back scene is so cute..the way they both held their noses after they were “caught” by her father’s subordinates..too cute.

No love triangle so far. And only the main male lead is prominent among the 2 MLs. I didn’t even know the drama had 2 MLs because the focus is mostly on WXY.
