You know what's funny is that in real life there are people like this, but I just, for the life of me, can't find out how or why they are the way that they are especially when they have everything within the palm of their hands. A good, comfortable life, a respectable career, loving family - like what more is there?

Okay, I was a bit harsh with my view of Irang. I just realised in this new episode, she is bitchy because she needs to be and that's how she knows how to survive in that family. She loves her mother but because she feels that she has no control and that the father is a dictator, the only way she can actually get to where she wants to go in order to live her life is to put extreme pressure on the mother who is soft-hearted, and when her mum can't always be there, she sees this as rejection of the only person who really cares about her.

I agree with you! I also think Jung Seok knows deep down that there's something fishy going on, but to act on it is to disrupt the family's peace and if she acted on it now, she would just lose given that she doesn't know that she's the rightful owner of the house and that she has got her independence back and she has very little money. If she acted before the time was right to confront him directly and not just insinuate that maybe he was cheating but not even using those exact words, would mean that she would lose.

She's not yet ready either to face her own thoughts about her marriage and family life that seems to have been boiling quite a while, given that she acted so differently, or was her real self straight after the surgery but then she shifted right back to who she was before the surgery, albeit with a little more of a backbone.

Plus he's rich and it's hard to fight the rich.

can't the father or the mother in law help her with the admissions? they're capable adults too, does it necessarily…
To be fair, it's probably the dad's genes coming through hahaha. And well, there's no example to copy especially when both grandma and dad treat the mum like a maid so fully understand her being like that. I do hope she redeems herself although it's going to be heartbreaking when she finds out that her close friend is her sister and her dad has been unfaithful.

Well, how the script writer depicts Dr. Seung Hee and Dr. Seo for having no shame, that's the truth and it happens…
That's why they had to make it a comedy, otherwise your blood pressure would always be up.

Yeah fair point and it probably came across as harsh. What I was trying to get at was that even the tone of asking for help was off. She's not wrong to ask for help re college admissions but the tone in which she uses to ask her mother is as if her mother is a maid with an on switch that is always on and ready to go.

At some point though, harsh as it is, children, even at 18 do have to grow up. Disregarding the cultural importance of college admissions in SK and even how early children become or should be independent in SK, just the mere fact that she is always relying on the mother, speaking to her as if she's a maid whose only life was her and to be fair that was true, she is no longer a child. She's an adult so in part she is responsible for her life and she has no respect or even an ounce of trying to understand her parents as people not as caregivers.

The mistress prayed for Dr Cha's death. That alone makes her a bad person.
You're right, there is no excuse for cheating. My point goes to the intent of committing the act, rather than the act itself which is morally condemnable. For Cha's case, yeah it was still wrong but it's not like she planned from the get go to steal him or cheat with him. For SH, there was an underlying feeling of being "wronged" so there was an active and greater intent to do the cheating.

The "not hers" point is actually spot on which explains SH's view of herself as a victim - from a non supportive family (not that families should support cheating but it looks like there were already issues earlier on, which probably led her to strive for success) to the love of her life being stolen away by a lesser known individual.

Hahahaha your last comment!!! Exactly, if he didn't impregnate her, she wouldn't be pregnant. He also didn't need to offer to marry her, and two, if he really didn't like her, why did they have another child? Why did he start cheating knowing that he has made all his choices to choose the wife, at least publicly. It must be because the wife is charismatic and good-natured and respectable, characteristics that the mistress does not have.

Not necessarily - there was no intent from the get go, plus when it happened they were very very young. It also was scorching hot.

Oh yeah, the housewife role is certainly not for me too. I actually think it's a skill and they are some people…
I don't think it takes that much to organise a home skillswise, it's more emotional preparation for everything and balancing multiple things. The only fact that's hard to swallow is the loss of identity. I'm not sure how you can do the same old thing, cooking, cleaning, mothering without it feeling like you're isolated from the world. Of course these days there are online jobs but to have a limited sphere of interaction has to be suffocating.

same thoughts. i thought i was seeing specs of him actually loving her but just being an asshole and not appreciating her enough but with this latest episode, he is actually fully trash! he's emotionally bound to her because she created his home and in turn his reputation at work being a family man with great kids etc but other than that, all the words that he says are downright offensive, even if they're pretending not to know each other at work.
