It was fine, not the most amazing drama I've ever seen but worth a watch. The upside of dramas wher the romance is a subplot is that there are usually very few or no unreasonable fights or misunderstandings. 7/10

I don't think it needs an entire next season, but it could benefit from a few bonus episodes to explain some plot holes. Personally I enjoy kdramas because of their single seasons. It's easy to ruin the plot the longer the story becomes

Was good, could've been 10/10 with 16 episodes. 8/10

Really enjoyed it after letting it stew on my watchlist for a while. The pandemic years were a good time in Chinese dramaland

Happy, open ended or bad ending?

Good OST though, I liked that so.

After much fast forwarding and skipping I finally finished the damn thing. It was exhausting, and full of misunderstandings and miscommunication. ML was a dick, FL was spineless and always crying, too many flashbacks, too much back stabbing and way too long. I only stayed for the chemistry they displayed but even it felt a bit assault-y at times.

What's wrong with those episodes? Spoilers welcome

I'm on episode 7 and the male lead is so obnoxious. I'm having a hard time finding the character charming

FL mom is the absolute worst

don't watch if you're expecting to see a real couple not some weird arrangement. 3 kissing scenes, she was possessed for one and acting possessed for the other. We only got an actual proper consensual one episode 17 in the last 30 minutes. This is also when the two leads finally stop running around and get on the same page after tiptoeing around the line the whole time. Was an okay watch, but the romance was not quite as solid as I prefer. Typical of its era I guess, but not a complete waste of time.

Oh! It was the first time I actually saw a decent underwater scene in a cdrama, made me very happy

He seemed to get worse for me in the second half

His uncle, the emperor was evil. ML knew he was evil, he was complicit and even helped him undertake his evil. The best he could do was sulk about it and just sit there and take it. He acted like the dog everyone called him, I don't even know why FL character could get back together with him when she was the only one with a clear will to fight against her circumstances. He was so stern with his birth father but the best he could do was "ignore" the emperor? Nevertheless, I do recommend watching it, it was a good story. The male lead's choices are more prominent in the last 10 episodes or so but the ending kind of makes up for him being a nuisance.
