It would be cool to see what a Secretary Kim level staff could do with the Kdrama. I think the actors were all highly qualified, the other side of the camera was the issue. IMHO 🫣

I wish it could be redone with a more successful script & direction to how good it could have been!

It could have been a really good show.
I don’t think it knows what genre it is either.
Maybe “Missed Opportunity” could be a real category!?!

I love the characters but there is little to no growth in the leads & their relationship.

That is a great question!
I’d love to see a successful Kdrama writer/writing team could do with this show….
I was really looking forward to some positive movement with the leads if nothing else.

This show is called a weekender. A family values drama. More traditional K values.
(And compared to 16 episodes for most KDramas these are 30, 50 or more.)

I think this might be a Korean values thing.
I just wrote today why is an adult child getting a divorce a stab in the back to a parent.

I want my son to be happy not be in a marriage to make me happy.

This is my second “Weekender” so maybe this is a theme of this kind of drama, but in Korea (Korean dramas) why do the adult parents of the divorcing couple get angry.
In a perfect world they should be supportive but not punitive.
I guess it’s a cultural thing ?

As @ivy said… I think you have the benefit of being less disappointed because others have watched it already…

It definitely a writing / direction deficit. It could be so much better. The actors leads and second leads are mostly solid (tried & true) professionals. They have done well in other series such as Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Penthouse even one the “junior” actors was a regular in Alchemy of Souls.

Perhaps they needed to write in more romance or romantic opportunities for the leads. And with two episodes left, they have not told us their (leads) back story( even 50%) yet - at least to me.

I know they (Th & HS) have a good relationship, but hiding a present for your spouse is one thing… but donating a body part - TH / spouse / significant other needs to be informed / considered.

I’m not saying she can’t make the decision but hiding cr*p like that doesn’t build trust…

Only in respect to the Kdrama, if Seon Soon (HS’s) mother was the way she has been… the father may have saved her life!
She is the pits, not as bad as TH’s aunt, but in her own way she’s abusive & the pits.

No the kids didn’t deserve Dad disappearing & I’m only saving it’s okay in the context of a fictional drama but if I could vote a character off a Kdrama Seon Soon would be my choice weekly.

I think those 4 kids would all be better adjust than they are because of her.

Augh, rant over only 2 weeks to go. I really want a happy ending for most of the characters, but that mother ruins my weekend (for 23 + weeks) but I guess that means I’ll miss it soon!
