I think the big problem with Wendy is being too nostalgic and placing heavy importance on past relationships and benefactors. Being a thankful and grateful person is awesome, but not so much on being a King that rules a kingdom. He always gives leniency on the officials that take advantage of his kindness and the king also does just that, given these evil greedy officials the benefit of the doubt. If it wasn't for lby always knocking some sense into the king, the king would've been made a fool even more. But, it's also this behaviour that allowed lby to be favoured for so many years by the King. So it's a double sword.

Yes, I think 5 years isn't too long either, it's also a relief. Those 5 years allow a person to reflect on themselves and to grow. However, 5 years in the battle field does sound horrible for lby, even if he's an experienced general.

Can lby forget his revenge and just live happily with css? No, I don't think he can and in some ways he shouldn't forget what those people did to his family. They killed every single member of his family and left him as sole survivor, his family sacrificed so he could live. I don't think he initially planned to slaughter Ling family, it's at the incident when he realized the king wouldn't really do anything punishable to Huo General's enemies that he realized he had to take things in to his own hands. That's also when he realized he had to choose whether to forsake css or his family. It's not like he initially knew he would come to this, he trusted the King to have better judgement since the King always preach about Huo General. But lby was disappointed in the King and didn't trust him anymore in getting revenge for Huo General. If lby knew it would come to this, I don't think he would've asked to be engaged to css. (I'm only on ep 38, been hoarding the eps, but I have seen clips of what's about to happen)

The only character i like is Zhu Zhe, and maybe Zhenzhen. I prefer s1 and s2

I am very impressed with Leo's swordsmanship and agility at such a young age. He definitely trained for this, just going to the gym and lifting weights doesn't provide the skills he shows when handling the sword or riding the horse. His spear and sword maneuverability is nothing I've ever seen in any cdrama, especially not anyone of his age. I'm very impressed to say the least.

Sometime the degree of favouritism from the King and Queen, towards LBY, is unfathomable and unrealistic. But, hey, that's drama, and I try to overlook that and just enjoy the ride.

I think one thing that wasn't logical was the soldiers not knowing LBY was exiled to the borders. I would assume an royal edict would accompany him along the way to announce it. I'm glad that even though he was exiled he basically lived a similar environment prior to his exile, meaning he's still respected by other soldiers, had a chance to earn merits and a manor. Lol, other exiled men don't have these favours or opportunities. Definitely, helps with the favour of the royal family. The King is definitely one of my fave character in this drama, he's very humourous.

The booklet of names that the mayor received was fake. So the names he gave ml was fake, but both didn't know. If ml didn't match the names listed by Gong then that means he isn't big mouse. But since he matched it, that means he is bc only big mouse would know the names of the drug lords.

I'm not sure about the novel, but irl, I saw a video done about the historic figures concerning this drama, The queen is dethroned and lives with the dethroned cp to their own city. I mean, she gets to live with her son and she gets to rule her own city/country. I think that's a good deal.

Both have pitiful family backgrounds, but zisheng is lucky enough to grow up with a loving god father, aka the king, and a queen that raises him like her own. The King, we can obviously see, dotes on zisheng thoroughly, more so than his own biological children. The king lectures him in a doting fatherly way, and jokes with him. Zisheng knows this too bc we can see Zisheng sometimes complains/whines in his own "zisheng way" to the king and he can talk back to the king without precaution. He's not afraid to say what he truly feels to the king, much different from the King's biological children. For instances, when Zisheng hurt his leg, the king wanted him to sit instead of knealing, but Zisheng was like "threatening" the king that he won't sit unless css gets to sit too. So Zisheng knows he has leverage on the king. There's a saying that a daughter has her dad wrapped around her finger, I feel like Zisheng has the king wrapped around his finger haha. Zisheng definitely abuses his power but he does so in a smart way that leaves him with leverage. Such as when he got revenge for css about the river incident, although he mistreated 7 officials but he has dirt on them to be used as an excuse for his behaviour. The king aint stupid, he knows why zisheng did this but he lets it go since zisheng can provide evidence of the officials' dirty deeds. I think that's one of the reasons why the king is reassured and trusts zisheng.

Yuan Shen helping lby to get revenge on the ladies that threw rocks at css when she fell down in the river...he redeemed himself a tiny bit. Apparently he grew up in a loveless family, his parents were forced to marry so they had no love for each other nor did they gave a damn about their own son. It's no wonder his mom doesn't care if he marries or not, and it's no wonder YuanShen doesn't know how to properly display affection to the girl he likes.
