She's not really my fave actress, I can't get into her acting, but I'm giving this a try for Chengyi since he's a very hardworking and talented actor.

YT keeps saying JJ belongs to the dazzling world, while he belongs to another world. That's just his skewed way of thinking bc he doesn't think he's on equal stances with JJ. But, I think it was already fated that they belonged together. JJ does belong to the dazzling world, she shines bright like a star in the entertainment world. While, in YT's world, as an aero engineer, he's concerned with building aircraft and spacecrafts, where one of their main responsibilities is to go to space and search for new planets and stars. I'm sure he's also pretty familiar with astronomies, searching for the brightest stars in the sky. Their career paths, metaphorically, symbolized they are connected in some ways.

Hahaha, ty! I'm glad there are others that agree or see a different perspective of certain scenes and of the character from my posts. I enjoy dramas that have more depth and allows viewers to have a deeper thinking than just blindly watch. This is the second drama since last year that gave me a hint of this, the only one that made me think a lot was Go Ahead. Go Ahead raised my standards of dramas, I was so surprised at all the hints and symbolisms in the drama.

Yea he's pretty relatable to most mellanials in terms of that aspect. Im still lost as to what i want to be. I hope you're in a better place now. Fortunately, for yt, he knows his aspirations and dreams. It's just his guilt of not making enough to take care of his parents. He has a great support system, his bff, his colleagues, his parents and his teacher. He jist needs to get out of this mentality stump.

Guys, for those that understand Mandarin, theres an ongoing live audio book of You are my glory on Youtube. I ususlly refer to them as radio dramas. They are high quality since there are both gender voices

Ok, I was skeptical with this drama at first. I wasn't going to watch it bc it seemed like a repeat of all the rest. Plus, it seemed like both Raba and YY are just repeating their previous roles in previous dramas: Raba being a celeb and YY relating to e-sports. I finally gave it a chance bc it's all over Youtube and IG and ik they have good chemistry. I'm surprised by the maturity of the characters and the storyline so far. Sure, on the surface it's still the same stereotypical ml (handsome, smart, walk everywhere and have females starring, cold and distant), and fl (cute, naive, sha ba tian). but there are some flaws that makes these characters stand out from previous ones.

When I see YT I fee slightly heartbroken for him. He seems like he has it all but he doesn't. Finally, a drama without a perfect ml! YT doesn't have financial stability, even if he has a respectful career. He feels remorseful that he can't even take care of his parents. But, I think he carries himself well, he still holds his head high. There was this particular scene, maybe ep 14?, after the LOL tournament JJ and YT were backstage with her manager and assistant. JJ casually passed her phone to YT, and YT just had this moment. I had a lot of questions as to what that moment or what she did (passing the phone to him before she left) meant. At first I thought it meant JJ trusted YT a lot by handing her phone to him. Maybe he thought "wow, she's so trusting of me, I could do a lot with a celeb's phone but she just handed it to me", just like how he babysat her apt. But, then his solemn and perplexed expressions didn't seem like it. Then I realized, it's to symbolize that they aren't compatible or from different statures in life. She handed her phone to him like he was her assistant. Perhaps, that action made him feel inferior to her. It solidified my assumptions when YT, manager, and assistant were in the resting room and the LOL director/boss came in the room and YT felt out of place. He looked like a lost puppy and he was ignored and put in the background. I really felt 2nd hand embarrassment for him. I didn't like it. A man with such intelligence, and hold himself up so well shouldn't feel so insignificant in front of others. When JJ brought him his suit jacket, it was an action of her making their status equal and bringing it closer. Celebs don't usually carry or bring stuff for their assistances, so what JJ did probably alleviate some of YT's thoughts.

I like these types of dramas where a simple gesture or expression shows a whole lot behind it. There's meaning and symbolisms with each sentence or smile. I like characters and plots with more depth. I realized GU MAN is the author and screen writer for this drama. I've liked both her other works, so hopefully I'll enjoy this.

I forgot to mention New Generation:Because have home! It's a short 8 ep drama. It's a light comedy type of drama. But casting and cp are good and natural. The leads, seven and Bai, are known to be good longtime friends so their chemeistry and compatibility are very smooth. They are very comfortable to watch. Im amazed ehat an 8 ep drama can convey such msg and character growth. Bc it's only 8 eps so theres no fillers, which is good. But the pace is well done, not hasty or slow. Honestly, i strongly believe it could go for a 20+ ep drama snd be one of the top dramas. As you can see 4 of the dramas I mentioned starred Seven Tan haha. I love her acting, it's so comfortable and natural to watch. She msy not be the prettiest actor like raba or yangmi, but i prefer her. She's one of the few actresses that has natural cp with her costars. She has more works but these are the only ones I think are of quality. If it's shit I'll still drop, no matter how much I like her.

I believe you mustve watched Nirvana in Fire s1 and Joy of life. It's like THE drama with great casting, solid acting and plot. My ultimate favorite has been Go Ahead, available on Youtube. There are very very few dramas that I msnsged to finish and Go Ahead is the only one where I rewarched multiple times and finding new hints. The cast was chosen so well, even the soundtrack was written and chosen so well as each song applies toveach character and their circunstances. Minglan is another great choice, im sure you prob watched. Startling by each step is good too starring Liu shishi and her husband. It's 2011 time travelling drama but it's a high quality one. Not the typucal romcom idol timetraveling ones. This one follows more of historic events and takes on a more seriòus note. Everytime inrewatch certain scenes i would cry all oveŕ again. It's the OG of time travelling dramas before china had a ban on it. My love enlighten me is not bad either. I finished it and thr acting is natural enough. Not cringey. Under the power has very very strong cp. It aired in dec 2019 to jan 2020 and it was the dark horse. The plot might be so so but wow the lead's acting and chemistry really pulled off and saved the drama. It's the drama that saved Allen's career and helped him gain recognition and popularity again. Also, I got sucked into The Lost Tomb world. It started with Ultimate Note, the best trio bromance in the the trilogy. But it's the third installment so some stuff didnt make as much sense. I had to go back and watch s1 and s2 first. I like the mystry and thrill. Mystic nine is a goodie too with zly and william chan. Their chemistry is good. I recommended it to another and she finished it in 2 days. Serenade in peaceful joy is good but long. I basically skipped most and only watched the scened that pertained to the princess, especially her and the eunuch. Im not sure what genre you like so feel free to let me know and I'll think of some more.

I get where you are coming from. But, I don't think it pertains to my comment of having an unbiased opinion of the CP in this drama. Most prefer and like Xukai with Bailu so they have a more bias opinion towards them. Some think only Xubai brings the best onscreen chemistry, so no other male costars fit with Bailu. By saying I'm coming from an unbiased opinion meant I don't feel the chemistry between the leads, not bc I favour XuBai or that I'm influenced by XuBai cp. But bc I really just don't see chemistry between the leads. They don't seem compatible on screen for me.

I've completely dropped Song of Youth. Even the side characters couldn't hold my interest. I might give YAMG since i keep seeing it on ig. I'll give Summer again a try. But my fave youth drama is With You and I can't find a drama of sme genre that has surpassed the natural chemistry and acting as With You. I heard Pearl Eclipse will air in Aug

Dream of Chang'An with Chengyi? Eh I don't really like thr CP choice. Plus its the type of drama that I will drop 1/3 way. I'll just wait for Pearl Eclipse. I don't particularly like political dramas. The only exceptions were JOL and Nirvana in Fire 1. But thx, I'll just watch Netflix until a drama catches me eye

What originally caught my eye was the comedic tone and the unconventional characters, like you said. Not so much of the love line to begin with. I'm more into her taking charge and defending herself once she marries into his family, since her status and his status are vastly different.

I've watched my fair share of love at first sight/one true love themes in period dramas, I don't hate it and some I even like. It's still a pretty common theme in period dramas, and I don't see it going away any time soon. I think it's really just how the character was written or how this actor portrayed it. Anyways, let's just agree to disagree. I see you like this drama, so I won't be raining down own your parade.

Yep. I believe you are correct. But, I feel like if Xukai played this character, he would've done a much better job. I'm not saying Kailu cp, but just Xukai himself taking on this role. This role reminds me a bit of Xukai's character in Court Lady. Unfortunately, there's 0 dramas out there that has caught my eye. This is the only current one with decent production and acting. So I'll stick to this until any new ones come out. Plus, the side characters are pretty good, the 3rd master seems pretty funny.

it's loosely based on a manhua, but poorly done. I do agree it's lazy bc there's nothing new with this plot. I've decided to drop this drama, not worth my time. May I suggest something better like Joy of Life, Nirvana in Fire, The Story of Minglan, and Go Ahead. Even Skate into Love is pretty good. Or My Love, Enlighten Me.

Eh, not great. Another sha bai tian fl. Typical romcom idol romance, nothing special. Loosely based on a manhua. The fl is a child psychologist but she acts more like a child. Pretty loosey goosey. There's not much going about this drama.

Exactly, there's no character development on his part. I rather have slow burn love where we see the gradual growth between the two's relationship and feelings towards each other. This one is right off the bat loving her so deeply he would sacrifice his life to save her type. I just can't get into that. At least with bailu's character we can see slight character growth where she wanted to do nothing with him but then gradually see a new light in him and slowly like him. Although it's not done perfectly, at least it's something. Sigh, I was anticipating this drama a lot since the trailers came out. Now I'm stuck for another month before any good period drama comes out. Hopefully Bailu and Allen's drama comes out. I see more CP between them.

I, or most people, aren't comparing it to Kailu or any of Bailu's previous costars. I'm comparing it to all great chemistry costars in all dramas that existed or that I've watched. I like Kailu, but I'm not bias towards them. In the most unbiased opinion, I see and feel no chemistry between them. I want the chemistry like Allen and Seven in Under the Power or at least Xukai and Yitong in Court Lady. Unfortunately, I feel 0 between them. For some reason, I just can't get in to the ml's character or acting. Perhaps, the role just isn't for him?
