She is recogonized, just not the traffic way that many expected. She is mentally strong, she has her own ways and plan. She wants to go far and not just be a traffic star. She wants stability and to show others her acting skills. Each role she takes reflects what touches her heart. She may not have high marketing value or exposure like others (Bailu, Esther, Lusi etc), but that's her nature. She could've easily taken a fantasy/xianxa drama after UTP or GA to get more popular but she didn't. There's directors/producers that care about noise/popularity that can bring to their project so they will go with traffic stars, but there are also diretors/producers that care about the integrity and acting skills so they won't choose traffic stars such as the director of MD who chose ss instead. She is being recognized as a clean. pure actress that's not been tainted by the industry. She sticks with her belief and is never swayed. She earned respect from others for that. Each project she takes improves her acting little by little.

She's her own boss, so she has power to take how many projects a year and whether to join vs. She can take breaks as long as she want to enjoy life. She's a shy girl and doesn't enjoy joining vs, unless it's to promote her dramas. She's secure in her career that she doesn't need that kind of exposure. Once her drama airs there will be people to watch.

Bo plot may not be as exciting as Blossom, but it's something that ss saw in value. It's also to market and spread awareness of Shichuan brocade (her home city). She may have also taken that drama as a favour. This drama was targeted for tv, but things happened and it wasn't able to. BO is not a fail, it's just that compared to her other dramas, more marketing and noise was done.

I wouldn't say 2024 was not a recognizable year for her. I quite liked abay, and i loved the cp from abay. She got annual champion from hunan, 3x in a row. Not all dramas can be success, each drama is like a gamble.

I do agree she is getting there with age, so I'm glad she took XY, I'm sure it will be a good one since the director is well known.

So I'm reading Against the Current-there's an english translated novel of it. I've read about 50% of the book, mainly skipped the begining (since I heard from may readers the beginning is slow but it picks up really good after 100+ chps).

My thoughts on this novel:

-ml LJL if fken lecherous and violent. He's basically having sex every other day (including with fl).
-this novel is rated R, there's too many sex scenes, kissing, groping
-How will ss take this role, she and ml will be intimate almost every other scene once she becomes his Concubine. I mean like sitting on his lap, kissing, him biting her ear lobe etc
-the tool of rebirth is uselss in this novel. fl rebirths, but so what, it's not like she's using her knowledge for revenge on her family or to help herself.
-it's not a rebirth time travel drama where fl rebirth few years back in her life or few years back in another person's body (lan xiang). Instead, she rebirth in the same time line but in a different body of a maid.
-as a maid, she holds no power and is at the mercy of ml every stinking time. No money, no power, no wits, no resources.
-what fl (the maid's body) has is beauty, and omg every single chp mentions about her beauty and how every guy sees her is enamored or lusting after her. So that ml is possessive and hides her from male gaze.
-fl is too much of a damsel in distress and too meak, there's not much of a plot.
-there's a lot of maids like a lot. instead of inner court Concubine/mistress schemes it's maids scheming. A commenter once said it reminded her of Dream of the Red Chaimber and I can somewhat see that.

I spent 7hours reading this novel, not yet finished. I find this novel to be tricky to be adapted in to drama. Many audience don't like weak frail fl, they like fl that can fight back, and fill with action. Even if this is a good production, I'm not quite sure if I would like ss to take this drama. this character is not a character that would help ss. I can already see audience bashing that this drama advocates for Stockhlom Syndrom, and domestic abuse. I'm aware that the script writer will change things, but at this point I feel like 80% of the novel needs to be changed in order for this drama to work and be accepted for audience to view.

I know Lusi's case won't apply to ss since she's her own boss. It's just quite unfortunate, we see Lusi's career explode the last couple of years so wouldn't have thought her mental health would deterioriate to this extent.

I am aware traffic actors take project after project. Like Zhao Jin Mai and Zhang Ling He were just filming their second collab drama, and in a blink of an eye they are fillming other dramas with their respective costars (SWL and Tian). It was so quick, I don't even think they had a proper break.

I think C entertainment is too condense, too many new artists so there's always a new artist that will explode or the ones that has been acting as 2nd ml and then one day exploded with popularity. Traffic artists are scared their opportunity will be taken away and the being forgotten. I get that.

I did, I started a couple days after Blossom first aired. The first couple chapters were captivating, it hit all the right spots. It was fast pace and entertaining yet also pull audience's heart. The director does short dramas, which is a hit these days, so he knows to pack a lot of things in an ep or two instead of doing fillers. He does do similar scenes in his short film with Blossom though. Though I did lose some interest after they got married, I still have about 6-7 eps to finish.

Although I would love ss to take another period drama after MD is finished filming, but I find it a bit too soon to take another project without breaks. After Lusi's incident, taking vacation and going under the radar is much needed for celebrities. Everyone need to recuperate. i use to complain (i prob still will unfortunately) when ss takes too long a break (3-4months), but if that's what helps her mental well-being, then take the break.

ml in Blosson was also abusive to fl, but he later turned a different leaf soon after, so I think abusive ml is ok as long as the plot does him justice. like providing him a valid excuse or "out". ML in Blossom was always portrayed as a righteous man, that only revenged for his uncle, so even though he was abusive in the beginning to fl, he had his reasons so audience never found it distasteful. However, I feel like in this novel it may be hard to justify ml's lecherous behaviour and abusive behaviour. Someone said also rebirthed (not entirely sure about that), but he and fl found out that both rebirth when fl spoke out a poem they created together in the past. So that was the arch where things changed between them. If that's the case, script writer would really need to find a better way to justify his wrongdoings and how fl will fall in love with him.
I'm going to continue watching videos of what people say about the novel to get more of an idea what this novel entails.

I get you. I'm kinda getting sick of her entrepreneur type of roles. Like we get it sis, you've made your point and we know you are great at this role, something diff would be awesome. I would love a revenge period type of drama, I prefer not to be in a household of concubine where she is a concubine herself. Like, fl shouldn't just revolve her life around a guy, though it makes sense that females in period time does since they are basically helpless without males in their lives, be it their fathers or husbands.

It's a very long novel, I'm not even going to attempt it. If there is an audio then maybe. Either way, I hope she takes another period after MD.

So the ruored melon :Orchid fragrance Remains is a rebirth drama. I'm not entirely sure if ml rebirths as well, but fl rebirth as a servant/maid after her family dies. She and her ex husband (from previous life) meets again and he forces her to marry him as a concubine. Things happen and after experiencing the challenges together ml changes and starts chasing fl. In the beginning ml is a jerk, he basically abuses fl and has many concubines, but once he changes he releases all the concubines and stays faithful to fl (idk if I like a man like this where he's psycho abusive and then falls in love with fl). Fl for some reason accepts ml, and suppose to be HE. I keep hearing that the novel is written very well, slow in the first 100 chapters and then things pick up and it gets good. The novel is so well written that readers over look what an ass the ml is. Sooo, if this novel becomes a drama, I hope the essence of the novel is not lost.

Rebirth is a hit these days, so I would love ss to take a rebirth drama.
