I just saw reuter of lxy's photo where he's wearing a soldier uniform. imo, the uniform looks cheap and doesn't give him that aura he usually has in period dramas. I hope this is just a test run with the costume and isn't the real deal. It is S+, so production and costume attire better not cheapen for both ss and lxy. This is old news, but during inital filming of XY they used some new filming camera and specs are supposedly higher quality. I think I posed a photo of that news on this page, but would most likely have to scroll way back. The budget was high for this drama, but idk how after what you mentioned.

I haven't read kill me love me, I just listened to the radio drama (around the few chps near the end) years ago so I know ml treated fl like shit and then when she faked her death he was carryiing her corpse and she later became his queen. Which the drama changed a lot. You can give Against the Current novel a try, it was an easy read for me. I skipped like 100 chps in the beginning bc I was more interested when fl and ml met, I basically started when she was forced to be his concubine (not even Concubine, her station/status was even less than).
Most chinese netizens that are fans of the novel said the beginning was slow but the later half was very good that they couldn't stop. I read the English version so ofc I don't know how beautifully eloquent the novel is written. I read comments that ml is an asshole and if it weren't for the author's beautiful writing he would've been a red flag. I generally like reading ml being obsessed with fls haha, how he's so protective of her and doesn't let anyone scorn or riducule her (which is how ml is ot fl). I only thing that was a bit hard to swallow was how he basically forced himself on her bc she wasn't willing to marry him, she only did it for the sake of saving her dad. He also slapped her, so he was physically and verbally assaulted her. He's also a horny dog all the time, and has many concubines or maids and goes to brothels. He's no innocent man, but he's just and fair. The aurhor depicts ml as very clear minded, he knows the maids or concubines strategize to gain his favour and doesn't really love him. He uses them when he fancies for entertainment, stress relieve so he didn't know what love was until he met fl. Granted he liked her for her looks and it was all sexual on his side, but he slowly admired her qualities and eventually tried his hardest to pave the way so that his family and society would accept her as his main wife. He basically became a love puppy to her, and she seldom expresses her feelings to him. The plot isn't too exciting, so I am very intriqued how the screen writer will change this and spice it up. I know there will have to be major changes to ml in order for viewers to accept him.

I’m sure they will. Or else I don’t think any actor would take that role. The The picture of the mail in the novel can be acceptable because of how the novel is written I’ve read many comments from readers that the author uses really beautiful words and phrases. But sometimes to put it on live action may not be as socially acceptable as what it is in the book. So definitely there will be some major changes, I have confidence in the scriptwriter because it’s Tonghua

From the novel I read, he doesn’t go to war. There’s one battle/ fight scene where he was kind of ambushed. It shows more of him going to the brothel and his courtyard so perhaps writers will change it up to make it more interesting

Guys, we are all disappointed with no trailer, but think of the big picture! It's this director's first time directing fantasy, and ss's first time doing fantasy, and an original script.
