She was 18 when she lost her husband now she is in her late 30's
I just watched the ep and realized so. Oopsies, I was watching clips of it on wb On my way to work so only half my brain working. Curious how old fl and ml are
I think I finally have an idea of how ml's role plays in the politics. ml's official title is small, but he grew up with the king and is bff with the king, so many curry favour to ml in order to have a positive impression with the king or even just have their name mentioned. Even if ml's official title is small, in order to grow up and be childhood friends with the king, his family background shouldn't be small.
The Duke (ex husband's father in law now) has military power and basically almost a tyrant. The king is still young and probably doesn't have enough powerfule influence to take this Duke down. So the king entrusted ml to help, and in order to do this ml has to go against his teacher and become this aloof, promiscious, greedy man so that the Duke can let his guard down around him. He and the teacher pretend to be enemies, when they in fact are still very close. This is all from watching ep 12 and seeing a spoilage video on wb.
I don’t see anyone posting about it on wb And I checked the iqiyi App which doesn’t really show it but I think it’s because it’s the international version. But typically once reservations meet a milestone promotional materials does release so since there’s no new materials, I just means that hasn’t reached the milestone stone
Why the rating is only 8.1? I have a lot of expectation to the drama? I haven't started to watch it yet. I would…
Yea, I never knew people on mdl does that. It happened to a drama I was watching, people would rate 1 star on eps that hasn't aired yet. It was quite frusterating because newcomers would ask why a drama is so low rating.
I did finish the novel, and yes, it was really long. The first half was slow, but the second half was more interesting. …
So it's only royal harem schemes type of plot that's banned? bc there's so many other royal dramas like xk/wjy's Royal Feast and Ming Dynasty are all royal dramas.
I'm currently rewatching Dreaming back to the Qing and I haven't watched half bald men with braids for so long that it's taking a bit to get used to. I'm so used to guys with a full head of hair now. I agree, I like Qing costumes, it's colourful and elegant. I also like their hair styles too.

oh, I didn't know palace harem dramas are banned! i don't think so since a lot of short dramas have palace harem themes now. I think it's just that a decade ago Qing dynastry themed dramas were over saturated and over done that there's no new material to film. It'll just be repeats so period dramas has now veered towards Song/Tang dynasty and a lot of fantasy/xianxa.

You described the novel excellently. All these inner court schemes (from maides, concubines to first wives) is not new and a lot of drama show case this, especially Yu Zheng's drama. So there's really no novelty in this novel. I really didn't like how Lanxiang always had her head down (I know it's to show her subdue nature), and she's crying more than happy in the novel. If it weren't for the tencent production and screen writer/author I would rather ss never take this script (if it's really offered to her). However, if she does take it then I will support and anticipate how she will play the fl and how the script writer will change the story to fit audience's acceptance.
ml will be tricky to find. It has to be someone that has a fierce and violent look when provoked but can be gentle as well. Ml is suppose to be handsome too. Unfortunately, I find most C actors to be pretty boys. The ml character will have to be changed so that he's not depicted as an asshole. Funny thing is, with his status, power, money he's still insecure about fl's feelings and love for him. and within reason since he forced her to stay with him, and was abusive with her in the beginning. At least ml is aware of this.
I hate her husband's family. Selfish horrible people, I hope fl find ways to ruin the family and prevent her husband from getting a offical position, or at least ruin his reputation. REVENGE REVENGE REVENGE!
