i've never been in love nor a relationship so i don't know what love is but this drama corrected my image of relationships…
Just make sure you get in a good relationship. Because if there's one single drama that reminds me most of my ex of 12 years who I still can't get over.... it's 'I Love My President Although He Is A Psycho'. That is love too, but just not the healthy kind. Sure was hot tho.

I’m not even surprised anymore. this started so so good only to end in disappointment. It had everything to…
He's super hot with that red-eyed death-stare. So of course you only see it happen like two or three times in the entire drama, for about 3 seconds each time. But the old lady? You are forced to stare at her nasty grill while she monologues. Repeatedly.

Also there's something so wrong about a man in aggressive shoulder pads.

Every element of this I thought was good.... was something ripped off from another show. Except Justin on the Left and Austin on the Right... they were actually funny. And I thought the entire evil family was really putting out first class acting, way better than the caliber of the show itself.

I still just can't get over that they screwed up the most basic stuff, like.... how he's preying on grieving parents in the cancer ward. He could have been making deals with gangsters in sexy clubs, loan sharks at the docks at night, or in smoky gambling dens. Or making deals with CEO's in sharp suits in penthouse apartments. Just purely on a visuals level, that would have matched the tone of the show better and been way more fun. We could have empathized with the ML more. But no, he's in the cancer ward to take mommy to hell in exchange for dying at 15 instead of dying at 5. It makes ZERO sense. Much like the man-scarf and the brooch, which also make zero sense. They could have saved so much on the budget by just dressing him in black shitkicker boots, black jeans, and a sexy black leather biker or aviator jacket.

Wow, you are really full of yourself.

Throwing personal insults at other users because their opinions don't line up with yours, is what's really trashy.

When a man kisses a passed out drunk woman, that's assault. But when a woman does it to a man, that's fine. Yay feminism!
On Itaewon Class Apr 1, 2024
I thought this drama felt contrived.

From the outset, they refer to the FL as a sociopath or possible sociopath. Ahh no. The most pronounced traits of sociopathy are no capacity for empathy and erratic, impulsive binges of self-destructive behavior, substance abuse, and/or meaningless sex. I'm fairly sure what they really meant to refer to are either antisocial tendencies or antisocial personality disorder.

So they start off by being careless about portraying mental health issues, but then expect you to take them seriously when they start talking about racism and trannies. All these woke issues are treated with a kind of superficiality. They're trying to show you that Itaewon is a bustling, modern international city and that when you live there, these are the kinds of people you meet and the kinds of issues you are confronted with. In that sense, the trannies and racism and mental health issues are topics just exploited to portray the show as modern and woke, but with virtually no depth or realism to the issues it covers.

It's tagged as a romance, but there is virtually no romance in it, save for the last 2 episodes when the ML realizes his feelings for the FL... and even this is wiped of much of it's romantic elements by the fact that as ML realizes he cares for FL, he then has to save her from horrible kidnappers and gangsters and it's really more of an action/suspense drama. There is ONE kiss in the entire show, and it is in the last 10 minutes of the last episode. It's a nice kiss. I didn't know I was signing up to watch 16 episodes of revenge p0rn and woke liberal virtue signalling, just for one fluttery kiss.

Not to mention that to get that kiss, the FL has to abandon her self respect in order to shamelessly throw herself at him for YEARS, and sacrifice quite a lot, including her college education, her health, and her safety, just to get his acknowledgement. So much for the so-called feminism. This show wants you to see the FL as a strong emblem of feminism, but I'm just reminded of Patsy Cline's "Stand By Your Man".

The bad guy scenes have a lot of circular and repetitive monologuing , and his character is one dimensional despite their efforts to flesh out for him a realistic personality. Many characters have unrealistic motives behind why they behave the way they do.

The show is loaded with crude emotional manipulation, like scenes with the dead father to make you feel like crying, or scenes with the tranny to make you feel the triumph of liberalism over mean bastard conservatives, or the black guy not being able to get into a club to fill you with a sense of injustice.

Then there's the pub. They supposedly create this amazing pub with amazing food, but we don't get to see anything about what makes it unique or special. They film the pub scenes in pubs that look like any other upscale pub, with nothing distinguishing or special about them, and don't go into any details or adventures about the tranny learning how to cook, or what he makes that's so special.... except the curry mussels, which he took credit for but which was actually created - albeit accidentally - by the black guy. Since the show creators couldn't portray the characters actually learning how to run a successful chain of pubs, they simply time skip from [owning one pub} to {owning a successful chain of pubs) and leave you to try to fill in the blanks by yourself. So.... they glossed over what would have imo been the most interesting parts of the story.

All in all, I disliked it and found it unsophisticated, and don't think it should be tagged as a "romance". I would have given it a 5, but the ML's performance was really good, so I bumped it up to a 6.5 just for that.

Bullies hate being called out more than anything. And as soon as you do the first thing they can think to say is "nuh uh, you're the bully!" Immediate and complete projection.

> lets not sit and act like this kdrama is bad. lolllllllllllShould I break it down how presumptuous that sentence…
>I love that you stood on your opinion. It's always those, "I've watched this much dramas" that think their opinions on some dramas are important.

This has nothing to do with their opinion on the drama. It has to do with them asserting those opinions as fact and being arrogant about it. Nobody who's seen 30 dramas has any qualification to say " you'll know whether ot not you like something after the first 4-5 episodes. thans when most people drop something they dislike".

That statement was used as an argument to counter someone else's opinion. But the statement is an untrue fact, so it can't be used as an argument. I would like to see someone who has seen lots of dramas say that. They won't because it isn't true enough to make a factual generalized statement.

Show me where I said or implied that my opinion on this drama is more important. I have done no such thing because my values are consistent and my brain is screwed on straight. I do not belittle the opinions of others when it comes to how they feel about dramas. What I WILL belittle, are arrogance and condescension.

You're congratulating this person for holding what is on this page, the percieved "popular" opinion, and being rude about it. While trying to throw shade at me for pointing out ignorance and bullies spitting fallacies as facts on this page in the face of the resistance of a mini-army of teenaged song kang fans using sock accounts to try to falsely portray the image that this is a well-loved and enjoyable drama when that is HIGHLY debatable. Way to go.

This page is like being in the movie Idiocracy where intelligence is punished and ignorance is rewarded. Someone farther down accused people who didn't like My Demon of holding it to the standards of a Dostoevsky novel, but couldn't even spell Dostoevsky.

This is the level of 'higher reasoning' you can expect from My Demon fans I guess, idk.

About half a dozen independent and organic accounts have called you out already, stacy. But you just keep on pretending your behavior is normal.

Everything he's saying makes perfect sense, but nice try at gaslighting.

I mix it in my mouth. Its not tasteless if you put the right bites together. I do break up the egg, though. I don't pre-mix it. Like ok if you're eating a chef salad, you could toss it yourself in the bowl and then eat it, or you can kind of mix it as you go and take strategic bites that mix it in your mouth. Same concept. I don't like... eat all the carrots first or whatever.

How many KDramas have you watched? I can pickup words during the ML’s thoughts, but…. I guess I just might…
I was gonna say.... I've been teaching myself korean for a year now, and can't do more than A) read it and pronounce it properly.... and B) pick out words or phrases here and there. I still can't even make a proper sentence. Verbs have over 40 different possible conjugations, and even verbs sometimes have conjugations. Linguists say the bar of entry for speaking Korean is exceptionally high compared to other languages. So I wondered how the hell you did that, but 5 years of semi-immersion sounds about right from my POV as someone who's been watching k-dramas for about 2 or 3 years now, and actively studying it for a year. I can sometimes tell what they're talking about in only the most vague sense. Korean is incredibly difficult, so good for you!

On Secrets of the Shadow Sect Mar 30, 2024
I thought it was boring. ML is a bit of a cardboard actor with not a lot of nuance to his acting abilities, plus he seems like he has a strabismus or a pseudo-strabismus. I hated the FL's character and couldn't get behind the things she does and says. The chemistry between the leads was so-so. This drama is also mighty plot-heavy for a short-length series, to the point that it drags down any spice or fire that they could have created between the leads.

I'm used to short-length series being more fiery and spicy than this one was. I thought it was a snoozer and was relieved when it was finally over. I gave it a 5.
On I Need Romance Season 3 Mar 30, 2024
The only redeeming aspect of this drama is the kiss scenes between ML and FL. That's it. Everything else sucked. The OST is awful. The styling is a little off, even with allowances for the drama's age. 3FL is distractingly ugly. The relationships portrayed are shallow and dysfunctional. But the worst part of all of it, is the FL's character. The actress is fine. She's pretty enough, she's a good actress. But the character she portrays, is the problem. She's a complete fucking bitch with a ROCK BOTTOM EQ. There's nothing lovable about her, and very little about her to even like.

Other reviewers saying this drama is full of sex, are total pearl clutchers, there is very little about this drama that's racy or kilig or spicy. Just those ML/FL kisses. Which are quite fiery, but hardly scandalous or explicit. It was less explicit than WWWSK, Nevertheless, or Kakafukaka.

It just seems like a trashy show because the relationships portrayed in it are so low-EQ and messed up and shallow. Lots of game-playing going on in it.
