Death by a thousand paper cuts.

Hello once again, sexy.

I suppose you're excited to watch another Deng Kai short-length. Well don't be. Here is a Kleenex to dab your tears away. Because listen, you know and I know and the whole world knows that Deng Kai can act his ass off and burst your monitor into flames. And sometimes it do be like that. But -- and I hate to say it -- this time it do NOT be like that.

You want the particulars, I know, because you're prolly gonna watch it anyways and you just want to know what you're getting into. So here goes:

Once again, a bad stylist who covered him in BB cream and face powder, and smeared purple eyeshadow under his eyes and gave him a dark berry shade of lip color. Don't get me wrong, I like the vampy vibes it gives, but it ages Deng Kai by 10 years when you cover him in powder, and I'm not a fan.

The kisses are... well... not Snow Kong tier let's just say. They kissin eachother's chins n' sheeit.

The spice is there somewhat at the beginning, but at the end it turns into just this domesticated cringefest complete with fireworks right after The Confession and holding hands on the beach while running and laughing barefoot in the sand. Mkay. Nosedives.

The FL is easy on the eyes and a decent actress. The story has some twists, and good pacing. But the actual dialoge is crappy and uninspired, and won't really *move* you. Just keep you mildly entertained temporarily.

The cliches and mid-tier acting are abundant. The OST/BGM are preposterously out of step with the emotions happening in the scenes, I muted big chunks of the show because of that. Dubbing is pretty bad also, but at least it's the actors doing their own dubbing so there's that. It pains me to tell you that this is one you can give a miss, since it won't give you the Deng Kai fix you need. I mean I hardly need to tell you, that a spiceless Deng Kai drama is nothing but a travesty.

So there was no ONE thing that did this show in. It was just a whole bunch of little things that come together to create this pile of Blah Blah Whatever.

But honestly props to the evil father's mistress who still showed up to the set every day despite that nasty case of conjunctivitis.

6.5/10
