The amount of flashbacks of FL and 2ML as well as the writers giving them significant interactions point to a heavy love triangle.

in contrast, you don't see ML having similar interactions with other girls, like the FL is having with the 2ML.

So, the main triangle in this story is FL, ML and the 2ML with FL and 2ML having a history of being in love. In fact FL does seem to have quite a bit of feelings for the 2ML as well at this point, since she carried the wooden flute he made for a lot of years.

Nothing wrong in not liking a drama.

Just as example, go and read my comments on 'A Business Proposal'...i practically dragged the drama on coals.

While I whole-heartedly wish she understands what she has done as wrong and make amends, I doubt the drama would go that way.

Cdramas and some Kdramas have a very skewed take on ML's getting beaten or their suffering.

Reading many of the opinions here, though a microcosm, i suspect, reflects the opinions of the broader audience of these dramas - which is an appetite for these kinds of things being shown in the drama.
the phase 'I want to him to suffer more' when referring to the ML is pretty common.

I can name 2-3 Cdramas currently running where the FL assaulted the ML & these dramas do not make the FL realize what she did was not right.

The examples you mentioned all bad & if the drama makes the viewers aware that these actions of the characters are bad, that's good enough in the context of a drama.

Imagine if the FL got slapped repeatedly by the ML & the drama then shows FL making loving eyes towards the ML and declaring her love for the ML no matter what...
That's where the drama looses it & this is pretty much what is happening in current Cdramas and Kdramas but in reversal.

The underlying theme in these dramas seems to be, assaulting, slapping and abusing the ML by the FL is socially ok. The overtone window on this has shifted since these dramas never reflect on these assaults and show growth of characters.

I have been watching Kdramas and Cdramas for over a year now, I have not seen ML slapping FL. Not sure of older dramas though.

Yes, ML do act like jackasses towards the FL but the drama always shows consequences of ML being a jackass. Also, being a jackass in these dramas is not just limited to ML.
It's a behavior ark, where the characters are made to realize the shitty things they did & grow. It is not shown as 'power'. At least to viewers it is never shown as power.
Regarding consequences, it need not be jail or person slapping back but a realization of what they did is wrong and making amends is all that is needed.

I have zero issues with how the FL is portrayed in this particular drama or even towards the ML.

but the drama that kind of put me off was 'Why her'. the FL is angry and the ML is just near her and she proceeds to repeatedly slaps him.
The second drama is 'Cafe Minamdang', which frankly has a funny tone to the violence and is not shown malicious.
there are currently 2-3 Kdramas running that has the FL physically assaulting the ML.
Now show me one drama running or may be that has been released this year that has the ML slapping the FL. I might have missed it, so, genuinely want to know.

You are contradicting yourself.

You say violence like this is always wrong

And then you belittle the person pointing to the wrong since the wrong has literally no consequences in the drama.

Point is not about the violence, as you mentioned, it is part and parcel of any drama. What is discussed is the complete lack of consequences for these actions.

While that may be, it still is a point that can and should be discussed.

you got the core of the argument wrong.

It is ok for a drama to show the FL or any female character hitting ML or other men,
it is also ok for a drama to show ML or any male character hitting FL or other women.

I am not saying it is ok for men and women to hit each other...

point being - it is ok for a drama to show it as part of the narrative to build the story. Some dramas do deal with subjects like abuse, rape, murder, torture etc. While the acts are condoned in real life, in a drama they can be part of story telling with logical consequences like punishment or karma biting them back

What the original post was pointing at is the casual attitude of the drama to slapping by the FL on the ML.
If in a drama it was the ML slapping the FL because he can, we would naturally want the ML to suffer some consequence for his actions. At the least a kick to his balls.
Similarly for the story to make any sense, the slapping by FL should have some consequences being brought on her.
What seem to be happening in recent Kdramas is that this violence by the FL is never addressed in terms of consequences for her.

Drama is different to real life. A drama needs to be logical. Characters actions need to have consequences, otherwise the drama does not have continuity as well logic.

I call them dildo ML. Their whole existence is to make the FL better.
These dildo ML's are pretty common in Cdramas.

FL or ML do not need to fit into patterns of what we 'want'.
They need to be interesting to make the story line appealing and engaging.

Add to that the ML simped for the FL for 80k years & for the FL, he was like third or fourth on the list of important people.
The ML was willing to die for the FL while she was pretty much meh about their love and chooses to forget it. The best was when she goes on a drinking bing when the ML dies, just like how she gets drunk when her first boyfriend cheats on her.

The drama is a blast.

only minor sticking point is the violence of FL towards ML. Sure they show it as funny in the drama but it is not when done repeatedly. The drama should have toned it down.
I have seen this in drama named 'Why Her' as well. the FL repeatedly slaps the ML and there are really no consequences for that in that drama as well.
This is something new I have started to notice in Kdramas, pretty common in Cdramas though.

Though there are minor hints that FL may have had a crush on ML in the past.

What makes it so funny is that lady being incredibly sincere about it.

Got to the actors props for acting that scene with a straight face.

Having said that, 2ML was a stalker and a poison.
This drama shows ML and FL having zero problems with his stalking and fondling the FL.
That person was trying to make it as if I supported stalking, hence the post about the drama showing ML and FL never having an issue with the stalker and in fact were actively encouraging him to do what ever he wants.

I get it though, in many Cdramas, the writers want multiple men in FL's life. They want multiple men groping and grabbing the FL because the viewers I guess seem to like these sort of things happening because that seem to sell in Cdramas.

Do you know why the FL comes across as a douche bag in these dramas? because you almost never see ML portrayed in these kinds of scenarios.

You seem to be conveniently forgetting the single most important point. The FL is the one shown to be encouraging the 2ML stalking and rape culture. This woman does not draw a line with the 2ML even after she has a boyfriend.

You know the worst scene in this drama? The FL suspecting ML of cheating and going through his things. She practically had the 2ML near her for most of the drama but she dares suspect ML and disrespect him by going through his stuff.

2ML was not the most toxic person. The most toxic was the FL. She kept enabling a stalker to stick a finger in her bum as and when he wanted. No drawing boundaries or cutting him off from her life.

They should have cut down few episodes to make it tighter but over all this was a cute drama.

The ML, let a stalker fondle his girl, sometimes even in front of him and was OK with it. Worse, he was a wimp who would not dare speak to FL about the other guy in her life.

Why blame the stalker when the girl and her boy friend had no problems with his stalking?
