Only 11 episodes in but am already convinced this drama will hold up until the end. The female lead is carrying the heavy load of ink making and the fraught history of her family. The male lead seems a gadabout but of course deeper meanings enrich his character. The ink-making process is laborious and repetitive but there is enough comedy relief in Li Zhen's sooty-faced antics. Looking forward to seeing the price the evildoers will have to pay eventually.

It looks like all the remaining episodes are available now but I haven't had time to watch. Last thing I saw they were going through a rough patch due to his insane jealousy. Let's hope for better days ahead.

I totally agree. This has been a sore spot with me. Once in a while we get '5 years later' and there are a couple of kids running around. That doesn't do it for me. I like the way these two people are in love, in passion as well as challenging each other intellectually and are on the same page politically.

Haven't seen this much happy canoodling of a couple in a historical drama ever. Who can resist them and especially when he let's his hair down.

Ten episodes to go and it looks like there are plenty of envious people ready to make trouble for our favorite couple. I'm sure they'll combine their wits to put those nasties in their place.

Episode 1 What a downer. The Eighth Branch of the Li family has basically been chopped off. What this means for out spunky little heroine we wait to find out.

Just started this drama. It's definitely up my alley with a spunky little know-it-all. Many characters in these ink families to keep track off. One has already wormed herself into my brain is the greedy Jiang Yue whose turdy hairstyle stands out.

Why do evil, ugly people always have ears to match?

I was going to spend some time reviewing this drama then the Subway product placement happened and I was totally turned off.

They are both must watch. Just started rewatching this after many years and the politics of the harem are brutal. What makes it all worth while is the enduring love and understanding between Ruyi and the Emperor. In Xanxi Palace I remember the FL going into the palace to revenge her sister's death, falls in love with a young man and the relationship with the Emperor is more fraught and takes time to develop.

What a tragic love story. The tragic part could have been avoided if her 'brother', who knew everything, could have come clean from the beginning. He is totally responsible and was thoroughly unlikable.

Finally, hot smooching that was a long time coming. Can't stop there, have to show the couple's smarts in fighting off the frame-up and how she can handle complicated intrigue by various evil methods. She can tell the rice from the bran to nourish their survival.

I probably didn't pay enough attention to when this drama actually took place so pardon my ignorance. I watch many historical Cdramas and inevitably there are people putting their fingerprints on contracts/divorce papers so there must have been a way they were identifying an individual's fingerprint to authenticate such contract.

Episode 14. I do not buy the writer's turn of events at all. There is no way this timid, sick woman would string herself up from the rafters. She doesn't seem capable of hurting her children's future reputation. I guess if you haven't shown your 'mother' any affection, you need to overcompensate your mourning.

The evil doesr are going from bad to worse. When poison didn't work, get out the incindiaries. The Prime Minister is in cahoots with them all. Mommy Dearest finds out her little spawn knows all about how she fried his dad and now the heat is on his favorite uncle. All the good guys can manage is to look surprised. Two episodes to go and they better be worth my time.

Well, just watched episode 9 which was left them in limbo. I spent the whole time giving the Prime Minister 'the finger'. One can expect such deviousness from the Queen Mother, but for the Prime Minister not to divulge that he knows about the plot to poison the Grand Prince and 'who dunnit' is inexcusable. Eaten up by jealousy which results in showing his total lack of morality and corruption.

Just finished episode 9 and think Yan Yun should let his hair down more often.

Haven't seen these leads in anything before and I find body swap dramas tedious.

I like a spunky FL so I'm liking the drama so far. I'm waiting for the spark between Yan Yun and her. They already seem to be intellectual equals, all the other guys in the running are stradlers.

Phew, that was traumatic. She's a little trooper and he's totally smitten to the point of tears. I'm happy to see that he is able to raise her heart rate. What is that Queen up to?
