Very satisfying drama with captivating leads. The story of the Rong family is one not often seen. A matriarchal household made up of strong women who struggled for a place in the family and came to know one anothers strenghts. Add to that a love match between two outstandingly intelligent characters. In contrast we were also exposed to the world of the disolute Duke where the women were damaged and isolated. LJL chose wisely.
Ep 16 really hurt! 💔 Seeing them on opposite sides of the 'trauma wall' is brutal. Zhiyu thinks his silence…
Agreed. Do you think she will find out that his father caused the accident (which is false) that injured her father? How would she react? Might she ontinue her support of him and help him get to the bottom of what really happened.

I tend to agree with you. Waiting with tenderhooks for a thawing out in their relationship. Maybe a trip to the murder mystery game where they might need to cooperate would help? I don't mind if there is slow progress as they are delightful to watch.
I'm glad this drama is getting some love in the ratings. Just finished ep 16 and there's trouble in paradise. She's very courageous and risks a lot. He's unable to open up to her having held his trauma in for so long. Unsure of just how evil second lead is?
Love it. Episodes can't come fast enough. The leads hit the drama out of the park. She's a worthy opponent who doesn't let him run away with the score. Saw him opposite Dilraba in Legend of the Turquoise Land. Don't miss it. Hope this script will also find a reason for him to bare his manly chest.
Finally a new historical drama. Looks like it will be fun watching these attractive people interact. Just finished the first episode and it has all the elements needed. Strong, resilient heroine, good looking princes, intriguing backstory. Other than the son of the family she's intended to marry into haven't seen any of the usual evil antagonist.
OMG he's found himself. I guess he'll stay undercover at the Rong's but how will he be able to solve the crime from there? I couldn't believe when another creepy look-a-like showed up. Turns out he's also got evil plans up his sleeve, but not the mysterious bracelet.
Lu has a way of getting under everybody's skin. Bao is testing grandma's patience. All the sisters are venomous, except the youngest who seems to suffer from birth defects. What the secret there, and how does the bracelet imply danger. The monk is a fine-looking man, seems virtuous, but must realize he's not the favorite so why stay in the race? The cousin is a sweet dolt, the scholar has no oomph, the husband-in-waiting is pure evil, his sidekick has been reduced to limping along, if there are any other still in the running they have become faceless. Only a quarter of the way in, where can it all lead?
Six episodes in and the plethora of suitors have become faceless except for a few bad characters at the top of the food chain. The scholar and the cousin should have their own BL drama. Lu Fu Sheng serves up a tantilizingly comedic courtship of The Tea Lady. Everybody's acting chops are mincemeat but the production qualities and the storyline take us into swooning territory. Keep serving up this refreshing to the palate brew.
This drama is a beauty pageant. After episode 2 countless suitors, Rong sisters and maids have been introduced and everyong is peerless in the looks department. Many are lacking in the morals department though. I'll keep watching to see if this drama is 'my cup of tea'.
just finished the drama. I liked the two sweet leads who got a second chance at love. The evil one was motivated by a love denied and revenge to repay a ruler who took that love and then threw it away. He was to warped and relentlessly cruel for my taste. Appreciated that the second prince was such a good guy and got his rewards at the end: found his mother and got the girl. The rest of the crew were good sidekicks adding a lot of color to the story.
I think I'm going to quit now (ep 9). This drama has not lived up to expectations. It meanders along at a snail's pace. The constant conflict between departments gets tiresome as does the bellowing of the chief. As much as I would like, neither leads are holding my attention and the case investigations are going nowhere. The side characters are not making much of an impression either.
I'm only a short way in and am watching it for Wang Xing Yue. He's doing a good job in his conflicted character but the police procedures, like the need to stop tainting evidence at the crimes scenes has me baffled. The coroner is always there first and has copious details to relate. No one wears protective clothing, tapes off the area, takes fingerprints and puts evidence in protective, sterile bags. What gives?
Just watched one ep and a bit before bed last night and was confused at whats what and whos who. I think I'll have to start over as I usually like Chen Yi dramas.
