Just watched the first episode and it's all a bit confusing getting all those daughters straight. The 'bad' husband being disciplined by Chai An is mildly amusing but the entrance of the other two 'maids' suffers from histrionics.
I don't buy Angelababy as a male from day one and that will surely put a crimp on my enjoyment of this drama. I liked Song Wei Long in A League for Nobleman so I'll try and stilck with it for now.
Ep 2 starts encouraging for the ladies are able to leave the brothel but why would there be such a filthy room in the Yamen. So she`s going to become an investigator. Looks like it will take a while right now she`s just getting the sh*t jobs.
Just started this and wasn`t sure I wanted to keep going given the `rape`scenes at the start. But the FL lead turned out to be interesting although much more mature than her virginal age of 18. Not sure who is going to be the ML here.
Ep. 11 is so dramatic. Full of misunderstandings and secrets. We all care about these characters. The confession at the end just barely results in a little hug. I need more.
Heavy! It demonstrates pretty well the disadvantages women face in society, historically and also present day. When is our very capable FL going to get a break. To this point, the ML seems something of a gad-about. Since he`s one of my favourite actors, I`m hoping there is more to his character.
Ok, I'm done. Fraught with life and death issues this drama's only steadfast character was Chen Maidong. For his sake I'm happy he found love for however long it might last.
Ep. 15, I'm sticking with this because of Li Xian but it's tough going. That mother and daughter are totally toxic which spills over in everyone else's life. Granny has it touch with her companion terminally ill and her grandson permenantly unlucky in the women he picks. Another thing that is driving me nuts is how constantly when people are sitting beside each other they get filmed to the left of the other person and the in next shot they are to the right of that same person. Is this a problem with continuety? or are the filming some scened in the mirror? Anyone else noticed this or am I going crazy?
Just started watching this because of Li Xian. Turns out the other characters (actors) are great as well. The only one getting on my nerves is her mother's fast talking and annoying voice. I'm just on ep. 2 and don't know if I missed where this is supposed to be filmed (city)?
Just finished this. It was quite a journey. Not all the characters come out likable but they had to live through troubled times. It was very sad to see how flawed Solomon turned out to be. What a disappointment for his courageous grandmother. I admired Ko Hansu's devotion to Sunja but it seems Noa was the one who paid the price for their impossible relationship. Many excellent performances from supporting roles.
The other motley crew are forgetable.
