Ep. 23 is pretty horrendous. Mad Monster Mom gets Ming killed when her target was DouZhao. Ming's hubby is crushed by her demise, but was drunk and incompetent so the bandits went on a killing spree.
I got creeped out by her crying over the body of Fengze and all the mourning over Fengze and time spent on his funeral rites. Also that last picture of her in the snow standing by herself with that weird lipstick.
Mud and blood sport amuses Prince Bai but he can't get his birthday wish fulfilled. Our power couple's devotion does not get watered down. Four episodes to go in this getter more and more ridiculous drama. Should I stick it out?
It's the end of ep. 34 and things are not looking good. Yingying called the wicked Prince a psychopath and she's not wrong but the General must be a close second. I still think Jinglan is the best thing about this drama so please screenwriters do not mess with his happiness.
So we're up to 30 ep. and on a perilous journey. So far this brocade business has been somewhat ponderous. Seven Tan has always been a competent actor here she fills a hale and hearty female role. The only negative for me is her large hair updo which makes her look top-heavy and stiff. The ML is new to me but I'm quite enjoying his rebellious, but dedicated to her character. Her other admirers are a sad lot, with a nefariously underhanded ex and a cypher of a new suitor who wants in on the action. Other than her loyal female friend hardly anyone else is worth mentioning and that includes her brother. Where are we off to next?
It's CGI, no animals were hurt in making those scenes.
I know that intellectually, but I'm watching it emotionally and it affects me more than watching our hero getting hurt while mowing his way through hords of enemies out to kill him.
The bridegroom is dead on his feet. So not much of a wedding night. Not a hair was mussed out of place. Meanwhile, her other two suitors are at the whorehouse plotting to get her back.
Stop with the horse killing and maiming. This ruins the show for me. Men I can take as the fodder of violence as the have free will about who and what they are serving, but animals don't.
Looks like tht wet noodle of a brother has grown a spine. As fir the knight on the white horse he gets past t the gate but hords are waiting for him on his way to the wedding. Will he be able to toast the bride?
Yingying has too many people messing with her life, deperate women who are trying to bury her and powerful men who are trying to own her. She has good instincts about who is friend or foe.
Even wearing iron ankle bracelets does not deter NWN from making her insideous plans using her drunken, distraught 'hubby' and his scheming mother. Yingying's mom is pretty immature if she thinks she can pressure Jinglan to be a matchmaker to have her marry some other far-flung suitor.
Ep 19 She's all tied up with her young 'husband' who managed to get her into a wedding get-up all by himself. Then the 'groom' gets beaten to a pulp for his efforts but undaunted he sucks up to his father-in-law leaving his wifey in the dust.
On Ep 9 and finding it slow...Is it worth sticking around for the romance?
It doesn't get much faster than that. A story of self empowerment and creativity which fizzles out and suffers from a lack of full dimensional supporting characters except for Cui Shi Jiu. By the end the pearl as a talisman gets ignored and is supplanted by some other shiney object. The romance is doomed.
Finished the first four and I like what I see. As usual in these timewarp/rebirth dramas I get confused. Maybe the subtitles aren't as forthcoming as the dialogue would be if I could understand Mandarin. Compared to the FL who seems to have things firmly in hand, the ML cuts a sad figure. The new itiration of the monk is amusing.
Surely there is no need to label anyone who has anything critical to say about the drama, casting or the storyline an 'anti'. I'm liking this drama. have alway appreciated Tan Son Yun's acting chops, Zheng Ye Cheng is an actor I haven't see too much of and can't really recall from My Sassy Princess. He is doing a good job in this role following his revenge and incidentally siding with Yingying. I find both both Yingying and her brother here represented by actor who looke too mature for the characters. Not enjoying the constant haranguing of and physical abuse of the 'children' by their mother. Where does she get the energy, isn't she supposed to be sick? The general and his daughter are proper evil foes
