You are not wrong that the Li Changge in the manhua is tiny. But in a drama, it would not be possible to find…
My friend, other people and stats don't change a thing when my comment voiced my personal frustration and honest opinion lol. Great film have been made staying more authentic and still being realistic as you say, so I disagree, some things were poor choices. You must be a big fan of this drama :)
Yeah, same here. I /loved/ the manhua and was excited when they announced this adaptation (esp cause the manhua…
Exactly. The manhua holds a special place in my heart haha. Imagine how cool it would be if they had been more sensitive and faithful to the original work. It's ok to not like it, you don't have to force anything :)

Ahh thank you for explaining. I'd like to clarify that it's not about her being the exact age, the actress can even be in her 30s or whatever as long as she feels like the character. Not just visuals but the feel of characters you know? E.g. both leads in the manhua have a certain fierceness in their eyes, like it's a part of their personality. Their dynamic there was adorable so they could certainly expand their romance from where the manhua left off. Other than that the the vibe would be grim, philosophical and reflective I guess, to put into words. Certain reasons I liked the manhua for was lost on this adaptation.
Also Dilraba is a fantastic actress, however I don't buy that the directors had no other candidates. Because I'm sure there are many many talented, petite, maybe less famous actresses and actors in China who don't get as many opportunities because producers/directors sometimes cast popular celebs for the following they bring to the drama. This is why I feel the characters could have been more suitably matched.
I'm a huge fan of the manhua. I tried to watch this but I couldn't get past how the vibe is kinda different, and the main cast don't suit the characters. Chang ge is supposed to be like 14 and tiny and Sun is also different. I wish they cast more suitably without going for whoever is popular. I could be wrong since I didn't watch a lot, not wanting to be disappointed.
Ngl, I started this drama purely for the potential wlw, so I'm really glad it wasn't just queer bait. Wish they got their own scene in the final episode, like other couples.
That was a quick jump in Nabi's artistry in the end lol. Too many convenient things happened. NB and JE like each other but they'll have to work super hard to grow together instead of returning to their toxic habits.
I worry for people who think s1/s2 were any better. The genre of this show is #ridiculous y'all. My first reaction to this show was WTF but now I tune in for the laughs. The whole point of this show is the extreme behavior of humans and illogical plot twists lol.
When watching it I instantly felt that JE might have called 119 despite having already seen Nabi leaving her house- he was in the vicinity that time- as his ploy to get her guard down for him again. By showing her he cares about her, right when she was in a vulnerable moment. Remember Bitna told Nabi everything is calculated by him, I agree. He might have even approached her from the beginning knowing she'd be easy prey as he could've seen her ex's sculpture of her and heard about her since they're all in the arts circle/field. I hope I'm wrong though.
IMO what he subconsciously wants from her is the power he has over her in their dynamic. All the other girls are upfront with their attraction for him, and NB also desires him but isn't assertive about it. He knows that. So it's like a game for him to get her to react. She falls to a submissive role as she fishes for proof of him liking her. Sadly as irl, when women become submissive, men only build their man-ego. I hate to see it.
NB is confused about what love is, the attraction she feels for JE is lust. If she accepted that it's ok to get attracted to an attractive guy and maybe even sleep with him to satisfy her needs, without aggressively wanting it to be fairytale romance, then she wouldn't be giving JE a chance to manipulate her in the first place. Or she could accept her lust and choose not to satisfy it because of the issues JE brings, and go on with her life, but that's obviously not this story lol ^^''
So no she doesn't love him. If she did, there'd be affection, caring and happiness, not constant worry. Sol and Jiwan have affection for e/o. Bitna's friend does for her but she doesn't for him, at least so far she hasn't shown it. NB isn't curious about JE's struggles, wellbeing, perspectives, background etc. Nothing beyond her curiosity of how he sees her and how he makes her feel.
The way the professor commented on JE, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a fling in the future. As an artist myself I disagree with the her sentiment that you have to date to make good art, it's up to each person. Compared to the other students, JE and Sol are clearly more confident .
I hope Jiwan comes around and she and Sol start dating. It's understandable to react emotionally and say things you don't mean when you haven't realized your feelings towards your bff. Decoding feelings can be a confusing process especially in a conservative culture and upbringing. Fingers crossed for their growth. They'd be a fluffy couple if everything works out TT.
This drama is really, really good. It portrays reality well.

Who was the actor initially cast as Sun?

Congrats soljiwan :D
