nah it was great all the way through the end
What do you think about Ms Gamri suddenly dying, and don't you feel Dushik was unfairly blamed for the accidents?
Replying to sun Oct 17, 2021
totally agree i just left a whole review about it
You brought up good points, like the imbalance of flaws and how incidents could've been handled better, which I totally agree with ^^

Title Alice in Borderland Spoiler
I laughed so hard at "the goals she worked so hard on". As a girl myself, I cannot understand how you think she…
She's not a good person and winners aren't necessary good people lol. Arisu didn't want to win and suffered from his friends' loss. She can win because she had the desire, but that doesn't mean victory will give a rosy path for her. If you think winning is success and happiness then sure lol the kinder person should "deserve" it. But if I were Arisu, I wouldn't give two shits about deserving to live, I'd be happier to die with my bffs and let the person so crazy about winning go ahead with it.

This started out strong, but after the best friends died things went south for me. First off the friends could've died together for friendship's sake and let that girl achieve the goals she worked so hard for. How do they expect Arisu to be okay after they both die on him like that? Which brings me to the next weird thing, Arisu was grieving for a day or two but then bounced back without his grief showing through in his choices from there on. It's unrealistic, unless his bond wasn't that deep. And we were made to think his smarts as special which I found more annoying as the show went on.

Usagi started out badass and amazing but that's it. They did her dirty with the sexual harassments, it was uncalled for and contributed nothing to her character development or the story. What a random insert. The visuals and games were cool but sadly fell short on the character arcs. Anyway Usagi and Arisu were cute together, plus there's a trans character which is great.

Even when the FL was on the verge of getting rap*d (thanks to the interruption she didn't)the camera movement…
Agree the almost r*pe situation was in bad taste. And you're right about the swimsuits although it's typical lol. The show's target audience is mainly guys, after all it's centered around the male protagonist being special and always saving the day.

yessss, lots of people here are saying the show was predictable and I roll my eyes at those comments because they…
Yeah . And I think it's normal to compare shows but it's sorta unfair to not give credit where it's due. I mean it's not easy making something like this lol.

As a writer I admire the depth of storytelling in this show and it's what makes it stand out from all the other shows, not the genre, idea, concept or anything. It flows chronologically so it keeps you hooked. It's simple but everything's interconnected. The writer dug deep into the story he crafted, allowed its meaning and themes to speak through the characters and objects and polished it for years. Every character is there to explore the theme, they're layered and there's conflict of the heart. Lots of foreshadowing and attention to detail. Even if I'm not into gore I was impressed by it's brilliance and the writers' insight.

For a scenario that encourages everyone's dark sides, it's actually Gihun's friendly and kind actions that lead him to get through most of the games, if you think about it. For the first and second games it's luck and observation. Then the murder-spree night, he survived because he came up with a team and they helped him. Third game, 001 was on their team because of him and 001's strategy saved them. Fourth, he was kind to 001 so 001 let him win. Fifth, he allowed 096 to go first like he wished and that saved him. Sixth, he cared about 067 and her death fired him up to properly compete with 218.

I was rewatching it and noticed something- in episode 5 when the police officer finds the list of 2020 players , it starts with 002, not 001. That was a hint! Lol

Title Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha Spoiler
Dushik was so happy after Hyejin looked after him and got him tangerines. Sure Hyejin's kinda special but maybe it didn't happen often for him that someone cared like that.

And at the end too, the way he was shocked when she hugged him and then slowly hugged her back, seems like he had needed a hug too.

He empathized most with Hyejin about her losing her mom. We don't know anything about his parents, if they died together from an accident and if he was there when they died, which could've been traumatic.

Either way he became an orphan early. His grandpa passed not long after and then Ms Gamri fed him meals. He didn't have enough caring guardian figures. The void of his family's absence definitely would have made him very lonely growing up.

And likely, a feeling that they all left him. He wouldn't be very familiar with intimacy and people looking after him. He probably taught himself to do stuff on his own without relying on others. Hence why he can do everything now. Hence why the wide range of skills. He still reads a lot, which could be why he's more sophisticated than Hyejin expected from him.

What happened in the 5 year gap might either be solely responsible for the nightmares and trauma or just re-triggered childhood stuff. He could've been a part of the accident Hyejin was in, if they really unknowingly met every 7 years.

In ep.6 he takes out that mysterious photo after he listened to Chunjae worrying about his kid. Maybe it reminded him that he almost never had his parents to worry like that about him. The colors and style of the photo did seem a bit vintage and the book he kept the photo in seems like one he admired and re-read occasionally. The kind of place you'd keep a nostalgic old family photo.

He could've had one failed relationship or more, where he ended up being left alone again. But considering his behaviour up till now, he doesn't look like he's grieving from losing a wife and kid. Just lonely with a nightmare, fearing abandoment. If Dushik had ever lost his kid, wouldn't he be way more empathizing and connected to Namsook because of the shared grief. But he's most connected to Gamri because he's grateful she took care of him. Both his parents and grandad died on him pretty fast. His fears would be inevitably linked to him growing up alone and the struggles he would have faced with it. And Hyejin will support him when she finds out and gets to know him more.

Did anyone notice the look that DS gave HJ , when the older police blamed Namsook for being so gullible and Hyejin…
I thought he was being appreciative of Hyejin for standing up for Namsook even though she had her own complaints against her

Am I the only one who got closet lesbian hints from Hwajeong this episode? If it's true then ex-husband being interested in the teacher is a perfect throwoff lmao, we think she's jealous of the teacher when in fact she's annoyed at her ex. Or maybe it's both. I hope she and the teacher resolve whatever is going on and be friends, or more.

Fav scene today is Sunghyun trying to surf with Dushik and failing hard lmao. 😂 They make failing look fun lol.

As much as I don't like gossipers Namsook's story was so sad. If I think of the pain they must be covering up with gossip, it makes it easier to forgive them.

Gamri reminds me of my grandma every time lol she's adorable 😭

Just to throw another theory out there. Since first love was discussed many times in this show, maybe the woman in the photo is Dushik's first love and she married another man

I think the woman and man beside Dushik at the Olympiad aren't his parents but awarding figures- his parents died at 6 or something. And the woman in the photo, his mom.
