I love this drama. Omg, at the end I was like forget your royal dignity and run faster!!! I am shipping Lee Yeong and Ra On so hard, no second male lead is getting in the way!!!! Also, I can't wait til Lee Yeong discovers Ra On's a girl. I hope there's some kind of turning a blind eye to it phase, so we can watch him stare at her, with her thinking "what?!" (clearly my gender bender - historical drama imagination is going cray).
I'm thinking maybe the point is to make everyone as confused as the other. The webtoon characters are confused,…
Yeah, we're all really going through it together! My theory is Chul has to go to Yeon Joo's world. If the webcomic ending will lead to a suspended state of being, like when Chul was in the water, then that's the only way. Moreover, we know Chul can survive as a person in the real world, because when he realised he was just a protagonist in a story, and the webtoon stopped, he was able to keep going.
I'm thinking maybe the point is to make everyone as confused as the other. The webtoon characters are confused, the drama characters are confused, the real life audience is confused. I appreciate the layers, and the fact that there is no dramatic irony here (when the audience knows what will happen, but the characters don't). It's all situational irony (when the exact opposite of what is meant to happen, occurs).
Only 5 episodes to go, I know there have been some reactions to the romance in this drama, but there's a conflict there that must be resolved. I hope we don't spend all 5 episodes on bringing the webtoon to its resolution, because we need time to sort out how Yeon Joo and Chul will make their relationship work despite belonging to 2 separate words. Will Chul's story end along with the webtoon? Hoping for the best!
I absolutely loved this episode but there's something I don't understand quite well yet... How is it possible…
I didn't understand it as he's just being threatened by the killer and complying. It's almost as if they switched. The killer became a full being and Sung Moo was the incomplete one. Back in Ep 9, I was already thinking maybe the reason why the killer had to take his face is because the two worlds are really becoming intertwined and overlapping. There can't be 2 of the same person.
Yeon Joo needs to give herself a background and an identity in W. I was thinking why she didn't do that when she brought Chul back to life. If she wants to help Chul in his world, she needs to commit to being one of the characters. No one, aside from Chul, will believe her or trust her otherwise.
Is anyone else wondering about what will happen when they do resolve the conflict? As we all know, after the resolution of the plot it's happily ever after time. For characters peace is also the equivalent of having no purpose. Will the characters in W be suspended in time like when Chul was in the water? Will they disintegrate and disappear like So Hee when she was becoming irrelevant to the story? Just another thing W has me mulling over.
I guess it's about that half-way point in the drama where hearts start bleeding. It'll be really interesting and exciting to see how intertwined their fate is. Based on the preview, they have multiple encounters and can't avoid each other. Time for YJ and KC to realise that they are part of each other's fate and there's no writing it off. I pity So Hee though, and I thought it would be so funny and great if somehow she ends up with Soo Bong. Haha
Can't wait for tonight's episode (tomorrow morning for me, because I need subs)!
Just to get it off my chest, the cut scenes in the beginning were a little confusing. I get they were all visions/day dreams/fears, but I think the transition and the way it panned out could've been portrayed and edited more clearly.
The developments in Ep 6 were very difficult for me. I don't enjoy the use of "Deus ex Machina" in stories, it's really a cop out for authors. However, given the material of Ep 5, I knew they'd resort to it, because there's just no other way. I don't know how she was just suddenly dragged in. They showed the villain, and maybe he has a will to do evil as strong as Chul's will that allowed him to survive the standstill in the webtoon. Maybe he kept the story going? However, the story didn't change from "the end" to "to be cont." til after Yeon Joo was pulled in. I saw some comments about Yeon Joo drawing to continue the story because she may have been the one who first conceived the idea of W, but still that was after she was pulled in and knew the story could go on.
The change in emotions were also too sudden for me. The dad had so much anger, fear, and hate in Ep 5, he seems so calm and cool in Ep 6. Maybe being shot was eye opening, maybe now that it's all over he can think more rationally. Yeon Joo tried to explain herself towards the end when she was convincing Soo Bong to draw, but it wasn't convincing enough for me. I'm all for love without reason, I need to believe that feelings are THAT strong. I just feel like her bond with her dad is greater than her love for Chul. So I wish they showed more of her reconciling the two.
Anyway, however it happened, I'm glad we can move on. I'm just going to put my concerns on the back burner and look forward to getting back on track! The previews for next week's episode look very fun and exciting.
If I were Kang Chul... I really want to kill her father... When Kang Chul decided not to shoot... Her father always…
Yeah, I found all the provocation really annoying. He was really asking for it, it's obvious Chul is rebelling against the insignificance of his existence as a mere character controlled by an author.
This drama requires a flexible mind. You really need to bend to understand the characters' POV. I think even the…
I was thinking of that, because she's been very compassionate and forgiving of Chul so far. Yeon Joo's anger towards him when he shot her in the bathroom was very short lived. Also, she already has (in my opinion) strong feelings for Chul and vice versa (given all the "if it wasn't for your daughter" dialogue in Ep 5). She never makes the distinction her father and Soo Bong made (i.e. human vs. fictional character). Once she saw him as a breathing person he's always been a human to her, even branding her father's attempts to kill Chul in the webtoon as murder.
Maybe she'll understand him because her father killed his family, and he still found it in him to love her. So she too will love Chul in spite of him shooting her dad. However, I think all that takes time.
Chul sinned against Yeon Joo so it will be easier for him to move forward because of the guilt, like you said. The flip side is, that guilt may also keep him from moving forward with her. The whole "I shot the father, now I have the gall to fall for his daughter" dilemma.
Meanwhile, Yeon Joo has done no wrong to anyone, so she has no reason to move forward. She only really has her feelings for Chul to fall back on. While I think they're strong, when reason comes in and paradigm shifting events like this happen, I don't know if her feelings are strong enough at this point to overcome the weight of her father being shot. She might even feel she's betraying her father and everyone else if she chooses to pursue her feelings for Chul after all that.
Clearly, I'm so torn and confused. I could really see it both ways. Let's see how she reconciles the events with her feelings. I'm shipping them so whatever gets them to the happy ending! :))
This drama requires a flexible mind. You really need to bend to understand the characters' POV. I think even the characters are extending themselves to accommodate and comprehend the reality before them. After Chul shot her father, whether or not he survives, I genuinely can't imagine how Yeon Joo and Chul's romance will come to fruition. It isn't like when he shot her and knew she'd be unharmed. It's really a big "Where do were go from here? How do we keep things rolling?" for me.
I am curious though. Yeon Joo is seen drawing a character which looks like a prototype of Chul in the flashbacks of Episode 5. Wonder if there's more to it.
I have a question! Since W is written by her father, it's a product of her father's mind. Since both( the female…
Definition of incest according to Oxford Dictionary: "The crime of having sexual intercourse with a parent, child, sibling, or grandchild."
Depending on the jurisdiction you live in, sexual relations with a family member beyond the 2nd civil degree can be criminalised (i.e. in the jurisdiction I live in, it is criminalised up to the 4th civil degree, a first cousin). These sexual partners are related to each other by affinity (in-laws) or consanguinity (blood).
It is impossible for Chul and Yeon Joo's relationship to be incest. Don't put malice in the story. Hope this helps you understand! :)
