So Im a straight female, and majority of my friends (3 to be precise) who watch and discuss are as well. I dont know if its persay the actual "act of two men getting it" that we like but more so the stories that are usually produced/portrayed. Yes sometimes the visuals can help, two attractive guys? Surely itll get noticed, but thats more of a bonus or an afterthought for me. My friends and I dont watch it soley because its two men, but more so the story that comes with it and it just happens to be two males as the leads. Many of the straight couple stories are becoming too repetitive and too cliche a lot of times impo. Its tiring, and sometimes the portrayal of the girls are terrible, they are either super naive, clingy or beyond annoying...(Not saying all but many that I have watched portray the woman as such) Its honestly a challenge these days to actually find dramas that I enjoy the couple and their chemistry. However for these BLs or Censored BLs they are like a breathe of fresh air for me. The chemistries are usually really good, I feel the tension whether its physical or not. And if there is intimate scenes ie kissing, its actually believable, like I truly feel I am watching two lovers meanwhile I cant say the same always for a girl x guy couple. And especially for the censored BL's the stories are so engaging! Not only do we have the beautiful chemistry between the leads but the plots are usually pretty strong, where you aren't solely focusing on their gender but the actual multilayered story itself evolving around them. Its nice to see both leads have strong personalities/qualities where individually as characters they are interesting. But when they are together they become even better version of themselves which sometimes gets lost in girl x guy couple stories.
Due to the censorship, the director/producer/screenwriter really have to be creative in displaying love between two males but not outwardly show it, and that in itself is really interesting to watch to see how creative and clever they can get! Because even without the physical actions, or the blatant I love yous, you can still see the love and endearment towards one another just by looking at their gazes, their smiles, the way they act, their words and there is something so charming about it while watching. Im not sure how to explain it but truly i guess the reoccuring term "Soulmates" just sums it up. Even though Im straight, I enjoy watching these and even find myself learning new things & perspectives here and there whenever I finish one.

She really was and I dont know if the fault should be on the actress herself or the director on this..Either her portrayal and understanding of the character was off or the director told her to act this way...to try to "seem cute and adorable" but all in all I dont think this character was done justice... =/ all the other female characters were fine! i liked them.

yea I def see where youre coming from! i havent read either of the novels, but ive seen a lot of people hesitant because Immortalitys novel is larger and contains more that they dont know how theyll condense it in 50 episodes. Ive also heard that TU & WOH worked because the BL story was more like an additive bonus to the story. Like it wasnt the main focus of it but it still played a large part. While Immortality is more heavily focused on their relationship, the story is about their relationship. At least from what Ive read/understood from some comments correct me if Im wrong LOL. I think SPL will do well, I hope I didnt sound like I was belittling it in my first comment, I was just comparing the expectations and budget, and its always the ones we are least anticipated for that surprise us more =) Im sure itll be great!! Im excited to see them both, Immortality with all the buzz that Tencent has put on it I hope its executed really well too!!

Yes its true. AvenueX on youtube i remember explaining this. Out of the two, Sha Po Lang seems the likely one aired first if they really wanted to air it quickly because its lower budget and I dont think it expects much popularity. So I think they may be more willing to sacrifice the spot while Immortality is super anticipated and higer budget! Actors are pretty well known and Tencent was labeling it asTHE NEXT IT (in terms of bl censored dramas) so they will not give up that spot on the recommended.
im on ep 14 right now and my only complaint is the love triangle/romance....really was not needed. I got bored with those parts....didnt feel the chemistry. Like why couldnt they just leave the romance out and just have it strictly ceo manager relationship....
Sorry u didnt enjoy it! But i just wanted to chime in and say that i dont think its high ratings have to do with the actors popularity at least in my opinion because before this drama they were not popular at all. Honestly the whole cast were majority no names and rookies. I only knew yibo when I started this and none of the others.

Havent watched this show but I watched WOH. I dont think it has to do with it being historical but more so the character he has to portray. Woh his character i personally felt had more dimension, he was flirtatious, poetic kinda outspoken, with a thirst for revenge! Here at least from the synopsis plus the trailer hes suppose to be this perfect angelic like guy. So with this there might not be as much depth to his character?? Hes simply just a nice guy. But im just guessing
So apparently, future cdramas should be 40 eps or less. This makes me wonder if that's why SPL is now 40 eps+…
i remember reading this last year, its hard to say because some stay the length they are even if they are over 40 episodes while some get shortened. We'll have to wait and see but I feel like theyll stick with 50, its so highly anticipated i cant imagine them changing it?? But like you said they could just label them at S1 & S2 and just show it all together if they run into problems.
i havent watched all the episodes, only the first two and the recent two (ep 9& 10) i really enjoyed this story!! was it perfect?? ofc not but with only 2 episodes it did well enough to get the story across. Acting was great, natural and believable! Could really feel the emotions. I do agree with what others have said and wished there was a few more episodes for this story specifically because I felt like I was mostly thrown into their story?? maybe its cause i didnt watch the other episodes?? but I wish I got to see more background story of both of them since apparently their "friends with benefits" relationship has been happening for so many months; i think it wouldve been interesting to see how they met/started vs now, how they changed and all that, feelings changing etc. Because we really only saw Kaeng actively pursuing Puth....and Puth kinda being pretty cold towards him throughout in this two episodes. But with 2 episodes you gotta just execute the bulk of the story and not care too much of other details.
To me...watching episode 10, i gotta say Puth & Kaeng were both annoying me equally LOL. Kaeng shouldnt have done half the stuff he did especially when he knows Puth likes that guy...I felt so bad for the tutor during that dinner scene, he seemed so nice and understanding and then Kaeng over there ruining things...idc how much you like a person you dont do that...also him trying to seduce Puth multiple times didnt sit well with me either....like dont sell your body like that for a guy you like because if you keep offering your body youre not gonna have a relationship thats beyond "sex" i know that they were both playboys who sleep around previously but uh...thats not gonna help a lasting relationship. and Puth being really rude to Kaeng not caring about his feelings when they were friends prior?? He couldve been nicer; and just communicated better. But the last 20ish minutes were really nice, my favorite part because I felt like they actually communicated with one another and had a civil conversation!! I still enjoyed this story regardless and Kaengs fashion in this LIKE WOW!!!
