I thought everyone read and knew this. There are tons of articles that describe the plot and every character.…
I usually don't read articles unless it is a drama that makes me very interested. So I wanted to share since I have read comments precisely wondering if there was gonna be a love triangle and some seemed to dismissed the possibility because JW's character appeared as support role
After some research, it seems pretty clear this is gonna be a love triangle: FL-CH-JW. “The Scandal of Chunhwa” is a historical romance drama that tells the story of Princess Hwa Ri (Go Ara)......Her groundbreaking decision throws the royal palace into turmoil and entangles her with two men: Choi Hwan (Chang Ryul), the city’s most notorious playboy, and Jang Won (SF9’s Chani), the city’s most eligible bachelor. (FROM SOOMPI)
In namu wiki there is some minor info from characters and basically confirms JW will fall for FL since it says sth like this (machine translated, the original is in korean): "Despite the ardent courtship of the women of the capital, he (JW) has no intention of marrying, but when the princess suddenly declares that he will be directly selected as the husband-in-law, the Eastern Kingdom is turned upside down, and a huge aftermath begins to hit his future" --> it seems there's mistake in translation because it makes no sense she will choose him as a husband candidate (her sis has feelings for him), I guess it goes more on the line that after FL informs the world she is gonna choose her husband and he starts having feelings for her, he is gonna name himself a suitor and...chaos will ensue (poor Hwajin).
BTW, it seems there is a mistake in MDL's cast for this drama. Jang Won is casted here as a supporting character, but in all the other pages I have consulted (Wikipedia, Namu wiki, soompi...) he appears as a main character. So we have 3 main characters, not two.
What the heck Choi Hwan, you were doing so well scoring points left and right, and then you had to put your foot…
The other Princess (Hwajin) is not her cousin, she is her half sister. About that, it is pretty clear it's gonna be a love triangle CH-FL-JW from poster and characters information, but no idea if FL will crush on him or it will be an unrequited love... I am so frustrated this drama has no relationship chart
Granted this might make more sense with accurate subs but I don't get the concubine drama? Why even bring in a…
Because they aren't after heirs for the royal family in general, they are looking for the Crown Prince's heir. It all has to do with power: the Crown Princess belongs to the same family Clan that the concubine who was urging her to conceive. If the Crown Princess has a son with her husband, her family will solidify and increase their power in court (which right now is very precarious since Crown Princess hasn't given her husband a child so "she is failing her duty" aka this is a serious reason to divorce a woman at that time). Her Clan is putting a lot of pressure on her because they fear the opposite faction (PM Lee) sends a concubine to CP and she becomes with child, which would give more power to their rival faction and damage their own. After all, if the emperor's firstborn is a legitimate son (Empress' son)it is almost guaranteed he will be the heir to the throne. But if the Queen is childless, she doesn't have a secure position and her power will weakened. So they don't care about Jiwon and her husband and want to push as CP's concubine a distant relative precisely because they know sooner of later, someone is gonna make a move and force a concubine on CP.
I don’t know what some of you are talking about. ML is so dang hot in his ruthlessness, confidence and protecting…
I can't talk in name of the rest of the viewers who like 2ML, but in my case I like the idea of 2ML/FL because I love the idea of a very restrained "prudish" person turning out to be very passionate and wild in love, like the dynamic of Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian from the Untamed/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. So although I doubt it, I would be pleasantly surprised if 2ML of this drama turned out to be that way. That being said, yeah, ML is hot
The rating 7.7 make me laugh. We see that there are people who have made vows of chastity more than a neutral…
That is something that I will never understand. I can totally get that there are people that doesn't want to watch sexual/+18 content. I totally get it and respect it. But why must they attack these type of dramas? When a drama is not my cup of tea, I don't watch it. It's crazy that some people pretend to force the rest of the world into watching what they want. So if I want to watch a mature drama every once in a while I can't? It's upsetting that adult people can be so intolerant. In my country there's a saying: "live and let live" (if someone knows the english equivalent saying, let me know) so unless a show doesn't rate properly, I hope people stop hating blindly.
I thought the same but then I looked and the 2ML is listed as a supporting cast. So now I’m just eager to see…
I though it was very surprising how they casted him in MDL as only supporting character so I went to wikipedia and there 2ML is catalogued as one of the 3 main characters... so I don't completely trust MDL on this, no matter if 2ML ends up with FL or not, he doesn't seem just a supporting character based on photos, trailer, etc, he will likely have an important role on the drama.
I am very pleasantly surprised by this drama. I liked this 2 eps a lot, specially the first one. I think the plot seems refreshing compared to other Joseon period drama which tend to be so so similar, like a copy paste. As a period lover drama, I have always wondered why they focused so much on Joseon era instead of Goryeo or Silla that seem very interesting (though lately they have produced some of these yeah!) but I disagress... I really think it is very refreshing seeing a Joseon era drama delve in sex and intimacy, and specially in women exploring their sexuality. The first scene with the girls reading the erotic pictures had me giggling and it has been a long time since a drama got me so hooked in just about 10-15 mins of watching FL peeping into her brother was very icky to me though lol I think FL has potential, I just hope her character develops more in the "strong-willed, curious girl who breaks conventions" and not the "typical spoiled dumb princess". I like the dynamics between the girls. I like her sister though she has some petty rivalry with FL, she seems a good person. I loved also Crown Prince-Crown Princess issues, which shows a very realistic take on a political marriage
Super unpopular opinion: I would love to see a romantic relationship between FL and Jang Won (Jiwon's brother) because he seems so proper and upright, the typical strict scholar while FL is so mischievous and liberal, that I think the chemistry would be on fire... I imagine the possibilty of a dynamic like Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan's, where the super restrained person becomes super passionate in love. That being said, I like ML and that kiss was amazing
What? i didn't know anything! who was the love interest? I really don't like this type of things because in China…
Thank you for the reply. So they have done the same that with another recent drama about a ganster reborn in a student's body. I hope Korea start to not censore lgtbi relationships in dramas. I remember Revenge of others (i don't know if it was only streaming but I think not) had a secondary gay character and SPOILER from this show: they kind of teased (imo it was very heavily implied) the villain was in love with his friend who was a main character but then it was revealed that no (though at least it seems I am not delusional cause quite abit og people commented on it)
They should add tag Censored Adaptation of Same-sex Original Work
What? i didn't know anything! who was the love interest? I really don't like this type of things because in China I understand it's because it's forbidden, but to do that in a korean drama...
She will be with Lin Mao, whom she loves, not Han Zhao, no matter how cute he is (I think he is cute too)
I didn't read the novel, but from spoilers I have read, Yixiu storyline is completely different in the novel (even her character). In theory, in the novel there is no 6th Uncle neither Mr.Han. She marries some random guy
I kinda wish she would get with him and live a spoiled pampered life, but to be realistic, I don’t trust him…
Well he seems to have a kind and calm nature at least from what we have seen til now (that is almost nothing, that's true). So I don't think he would mistreat Yixiu even if after being married he lost romantic interest in her. I agree we should see more about him and not in such a shallow way to form a good opinion of him. The princess seems satisfied with Yixiu because it's obvious how she pampers her son and she has seen how happy he is with her, but I think she also likes her blunt innocent personality, because as a princess she has seen all types of schemes in the palace so I guess since her family's status is already very high, she prefers a straightforward kind woman that takes care of her son, instead of a scheming girl from a more powerful family. I like more Mr Han as a potential love interest, but Uncle is also kind so I won't be too disappointed by who is her love interest. Unpopular opinion: I see a lot of people comments in this type of dramas about x character that should marry the one they like/is in love with them but I think in Ancient china's arranged marriages one should first try to see the moral character of the groom and if there is love of couse much better. What I am trying to say it's that even if Mr. Han was crazily in love with Yixiu, what matters a lot is his personality, because if he were not kind hearted, if love disappears she would suffer. Ancient emperors/princes treating a concubine as their most precious pearl was very common but later once the love is gone, they usually abandoned and neglected them in the cruelest ways. That's the only disavantage I see between a marriage with a much more powerful family, that they can abuse their power and make her life way harder, though I don't think it's the case with Mr. Han who I see as a cutie lol
Sixth Lady's mother: I knew you would never do anything innapropiate, that's why I didn't ask you about Mr. Han (Real meaning: I didn't tell you anything because I didn't care no I WISH you would make innapropiate things with her Highness' son! He is the Emperor's nephew damn it!! lol)
The reviews here look good, but Avenue X said that the drama is a waste of time, so is it worth watching??
Honestly, although in the past I mostly agreed with her, since she said Joy of Life 2 was very average and a disappointment I stopped taking her reviews very seriously, because since a time ago she dislikes a lot of dramas that imo are quite good. So I recommend you to watch it and see if it's your cup of tea
About the princess' son who is crushing on Yixiu, I think he is the son of a Duke with a princess. In one of the first eps, Concubine Qiao discovers that FL' future mother in law broke the engagement because she had gotten recently close to a princess who was married to a Duke and wanted her son to marry the princess' daughter and not FL since the other girl came from a way more powerful background...I think Mr Han is that girl's brother. Though I don't know if they mentioned the Duke's house surname.
Am I the only one that does not ship Yixiu and that guy that may be a prince? His behaviour is actually mildly…
Though I totally get your point, I think it is more innocent and harmless than it seems firsthand. I think he just saw how happy and beautiful Yixiu looked doing one of the things she most enjoys, so because of his little crush, his mood elevates a lot and he can finally eat happily. Perhaps I am wrong but I don't think he only goes around looking for her just to get himself to eat. Though I agree ofc he shouldn't encourage her to overeat, I like that he seems to like her just as she is and doesn't make her feel guilty because "you are fat and won't find a husband blablabla" One thing that proves he just doesn't use her to force himself to eat is that he sends delicious food to her house, just to make her happy. I agree Lin Mao is good at telling her when to stop but I don't like his comments about how her own worth is linked to her weight.
I don't if I am more excited to watch the scenes between our main leads or the scenes between 6th uncle, 6th sister…
I don't think he is a prince- we know his mother is a princess (they didn't use the word for princess consort so she is a princess by her own right).Do you remember this family the FL had an engagement with? Concubine Qiao discovered FL's future mother in law broke the engagement because she had gotten recently close to a princess who was married in a Duke's family, so she hoped to marry her son to the daughter of the princess. So I guess this nice guy who has interactions with Yixiu is the son of the Duke and the princess, the brother of the girl who was seen as a better match than FL. Also I love their interactions but sadly it seems the reason why 6th uncle is there blocking them is because he is 6th lady's love interest (there is a chart relationship), I like 6th uncle but this guy looks so kind and I thought Yixiu's outgoing and energetic character complemented his more shy and calm character.
