She was responding to him saying that he owed her so much, that he needed another lifetime to repay her. Her response…
yes, this is what she meant, it's crazy how many people misinterpret the scene for it to fit their own narrative "she didn't love him back". I'm not gonna guess how much she loved him in percent or if it was as deep as his love for her, but to say that there was no romantic love is so untrue. Not everything needs to be said out loud, you can see it in her eyes and actions, not dramatic confessions...
Honestly I haven't watched a lot of great older c-dramas yet, so I can't compare, but from the newer ones this one is definitely one of the best...I ugly cried the whole last episode, 10/10 just for enjoyment. I'm not gonna lie, it's not perfect, there's a lot of criticism and I can agree with the most of it, but it still didn't take away the joy of watching the drama. I'm glad I started it one day after seeing Liu Xue Yi in the poster, he didn't disappoint, such a great actor, now I want a new drama with him asap (I guess I need to watch some of his older stuff to heal my broken heart now lol). Tan Song Yun is undoubtedly great too, first time seeing her play and I'm amazed.
I already miss everyone dearly, I actually wouldn't mind more episodes so that some storylines could've been more fleshed out, the latter half was rushed and kinda dumbed down.
Сan someone spoil me, in the last 5 episodes, did someone die a violent death? from the protagonists' side, like Nanke or Jiugao? I love everyone so much, I wanna be prepared...
OMG, lx was going to confess and tell ljq of her identity, and then her child cried and her adopted other sang…
I actually loved that they have this quiet understanding later. He knows, she knows that he knows and most importantly accepts it and moves on. It parallels the scene with her burning the evidence of his treason. I loved it and I don't understand why some people are upset with her...
In episode 42 end, when she said, I live for my parents, my kid, then she started explaining the blossoms, the…
I don't know what it says about their relationship, at this point I need the whole drama to be out to draw conclusions, but for me personally and for many women now not living for a man/husband does not mean not loving them, you can't compare them to parents who we are grateful to for raising us,and children who are our flesh and blood...She then says I live for myself, and I think that also includes all meaningful relationships, whether it's love or friendship... Yes, she highlights little things that also bring joy, but it doesn't mean it's only that. People we meet on the way are also a part of everyday life. I actually love the way she views relationships, it's not your typical story about destiny, one and only etc. Very practical and real))
Some said at the beginning that 47 eps were too many, but I guess now we're realizing that 47 eps actually aren't…
I agree, I feel like 60-70 episodes would've been so much better. I enjoy the recent episodes nonetheless but I can see the quality of story-telling dropping quite a bit.
and it was not even a kip of 2 or 3 months :'''(((( it was almost 5 years in total i guess
if I'm right it was 3 years, almost a year after the play and then 2 years again...but honestly even 3 years are a lot, I understand that people back then viewed the time differently but still, I just don't understand the purpose.
Much as I love this drama, I do have one small complaint: the time skips are getting a bit much. A lot of the…
I agree, a year passed after the play and the ML was doing what exactly during that time, trying to accept her views? then I assume they separate for 2 years, he resignes from his court duties to go to Jinling...What was that random flashback of them, when did it happen, how etc...I'm lost.
Such a good episode, I'm in tears...People have been posting that they can't imagine her falling in love with him but I could see the gradual changes these past episodes, and ep. 38 is the one where she knows in her heart she is ready to love him...honestly beautifully written and no one can tell me they suspend their disbelief lol I'm not accepting it
ep. 36 made me tear up, honestly such a well done drama, probably one of my all-time favourites...I don't remember the last time I was so eager to watch a new episode...
after reading your comment i think i'll hold off on watching for now because i hate this kind of plot formular…
I completely understand, it's honestly frustrating to watch this kind of plot but I do recommend it if you'll ever be in the mood, the characters themselves are lovely and their bond is strong.
Thanks, I'm glad there are still people who don't portray this whole thing as a happy occasion/ the right thing…
I think everyone understands that what he's done isn't right; it's just interesting to see the drama unfold...would the most people have liked to see her with Scholar Han living the most boring life? I doubt it. Just because people find it entertaining doesn't mean they approve of it...even by that time's standards, he's being disrespectful, and it's been mentioned a lot through, like, 3 episodes...But I completely agree that he doesn't regret it, and I'm sure he will when he realises how much pain this situation inflicted on her.
I like Liu Xue Yi as an actor but everything that he's been in lately I dropped midway or it just wasn't to my taste initially, but this one is promising!!! I like it so far and what I like the most is that his character (and the fl too) isn't suddenly in love, it's very slow burn but you can see the interest finally sparking in his eyes in the recent episodes! I also like that we get to see the lives of servants and their struggles, the romance is not the focus and this is exactly what I wanted. The supporting cast is lovely too. I hope I don't jinx it lol
but at least in the manga there were no weird kisses, here the intimacy between them is nonexistent, it was embarrassing to watch ngl
