I can definitely see why people like it so much (based on the rating etc) and while I admit it is entertaining, the problem is that it's all there is to it. I couldn't properly cheer for the main protagonist, couldn't sympathize with him or relate to him. There's no tension, no intrigue. You can just tell from the first episodes the ml is gonna be fine no matter what, he's surrounded by all these powerful people and he just doesn't have anyone as clever and calculating as him as his opponent (meaning on the side of antagonists). He wants revenge and I'm just like "ok, do your thing", we know he's gonna get somewhere lol
Even supporting characters have more to them that the ml. I teared up a couple of times when we were introduced to their backstories (prince for example, he seems human and even though he's not so righteous and is selfish, I liked his character) And I can say the same thing about many characters. There were so many that are just much more interesting and worth telling about than the protagonist. I would even rather see the story of Old Huang than his lol
The FL is fine, nothing worth mentioning tbh. I'm not some Chinese drama fan, I watched maybe 3 of them excluding this one and I noticed they really like making the girls with no particularly interesting traits into the FLs. Thankfully the romance is not prevailing here so it's watchable.
The visuals are good, fights have a good quality, the costumes etc aren't bad too. So if you have nothing to do I would recommend it because why not. But it's not a must-watch, definitely not the same as Joy of Life (I initially started watching it because of the lead actor and the hope that it might be something close to JoL, so I'm at fault here for having these thoughts in the first place xD)
I remember that he was the only one I liked in the Tale of Nokdu and I felt sad that he was at best a 2nd ML in most of his dramas...So I'm very happy he is ML in EAW. And of course he's gorgeous there.
I watched UWMA and Why RU and yet I noticed him only when I've watched Triage recently. I guess he had really minor roles there because after Triage I just can't stop thinking about him, he is really good there! Especially in ep 12 where he has the most screen time. He has such a pleasant aura and soft looks, I want dramas with him as a main character so I hope we'll see it soon. He deserves it.
I don't know, I'm not impressed with this one, dropped it halfway and watched the ending just to know if I was right about some things. They made some questionable decisions just to drag out the show and make it more mysterious so that people would be confused like...every second. But if it was quite enjoyable for me at the beginning, after the 7th ep it became just silly and I was laughing every episode. "Beyond evil" is better imo tho I don't know if I can really compare them.
Here's a different take. I'm almost hoping this doesn't have a happy ending, and here's why:Lovely Writer (along…
I highly doubt this will be the case but I wouldn't mind this ending tbh...A realistic take on the problem so to say. In this case I would only regret my wasted 12 hours lol, since I'm not their target audience and don't need the entire series to know this type of fan culture is mainly crazy and disturbing...
Did u read novel in English is there translation available?????
Yeah, some mtl version I guess, but readable. It's on wattpad, it has a bit different name tho and I don't remember which one. Maybe someone has shared it already somewhere down below in comments...If I'm not wrong it was something along the lines "Mafiosi and the bodyguard"
I got the feeling from the trailer that the drama won't follow the novel very closely or maybe it's gonna be more mild...and I hope so cuz damn that was hideous...I've never read any fanfic or bl novel cuz I don't like reading this kind of works at all but here I got curious and I wish I didn't lol
its kind of obvious that the chef and the 2nd sister's husband are a thing... if not then that will be a surprise...…
Honestly, same, everything leads us to believe that's the case. But it's so weird. Like, when she asked how they met (or became friends lol, I forgot already), he was so confused...Why? If you're cheating with a man whose wife knows you're "friends", you should at least come up with a story lol. Amateurs...And I don't understand what he wants to gain from getting closer to her...They have a kid, the husband won't divorce her. Why is he doing that? These little things make me leave 1% for a doubt, at first when there were 3-4 eps I thought maybe he's cheating with someone else and using the chef as an excuse, but that doesn't seem to be the case after ep 8. Weird.
