It was okay, I think it'll get better, but love the couples. But the scenes at the end...beating up your own kid, even as a grown-up, so unpleasant. I'll never get used to it...
A good bingeable drama, ngl i skipped some scenes bc the drama is pretty slow and some characters were not that interesting. Most of the time I was just admiring pretty actors)) Not a must watch imo, but it's a solid 7,5/10 for me, I know I will forget about it eventually though.
am i the only one who doesnt agree with the ending???i am a little upset over the ending tbh; even though it was…
Only if it was so easy to forget everything that happened to him. For people irl it takes years to process pain with the help of specialists and here you think a couple of months would change someone so much. It also depends on the person. There are people who are stronger mentally and there are those who aren't. And considering how broken he was to commit suicide he was in a really bad place. So I can understand it. There are people who can't be saved no matter how much people around them try to, so it's actually better to respect his decision here.
I really wanted to like it and I did until ep. 10 or so. Then it became so tiresome to watch and I can't even explain why, it's not like the cast is doing a poor job or the script is messy. I guess I just had different expectations for this show, but it slowly became so heavy with drama that I've lost all the interest.
I actually really liked his father's portrayal in the webtoon. It seemed he didn't care at all first but later…
Maybe they wanted to avoid introducing a lot of characters by making his dad a bad guy and creating this stepmother...But yeah, there was an interesting dynamic between him and his father, I'm upset they changed it.
Basically his father cared for him in his own way, he wasn't a good father or husband, but he was doing his own investigation regarding the incident and when he found out who was behind it, he immediately sent ML abroad to protect him. He made sure his son wasn't alone there by sending Do Yoon with him (it's complicated). He wasn't against SH's idea to manage his mother's hotel. There's no stepmother in the webtoon, he never remarries. He isn't violent, he just doesn't express his emotions and can't hold a normal conversation with his son. Later their relationship improves, he approves of Ji Eum too.
As a webtoon reader I can't help but compare it with the drama and although I understand that you can't make it the same, I'm already disappointed from the start lol I watched only episode 1 so far and straight away I was taken aback by their decision to make his dad this stereotypical violent and cruel father who throws things at him and tells him to get lost. Then they add some new character aka his father's mistress or whatever.
I don't want to spoil anything so I won't go into details but in the webtoon his father seems more like someone who doesn't really care about his son at first, we as an audience and the ML himself can't really tell what's on his mind so that leaves some room for doubt whether he's as bad as it seems. Later in the story it plays an important role and it makes his character far more interesting. I'm honestly contemplating watching the next episodes.
6/10 for me, so generic. I feel like it became so popular just because the actors are pretty (like most of the time lol) and there're sex scenes. Story-wise it's nothing interesting, the acting is bad. The first part is like some cringe festival, I liked the second part more visually but the plot is nothing special either.
And I don't know how to explain these technical issues but they did such a poor job with the editing of audio track...When they speak with each other via phone for example. Or while doing these intimate scenes you can hear every sound and that's just painful to hear, at least for me.
can you recommend me some good underrated dramas. I've got nothing good to watch on my list.
Sorry, I just saw your comment.
I looked through my watchlist to see if I have something good but not that mainstream to share and I found some. Mind that they aren't in the same genre as Gaus because I mainly watch romance and detectives lol
Not all of these are 9/10 tbh but they're enjoyable. A Poem a Day (2018) - this one is pretty slow and mainly just romance, not for everyone as I see from the comments there, but I liked that it had this realistic take on the relationship. The ml got what he deserved. Into the Ring (2020) - I'm gonna be honest, last episode or so was not so great but the ones before were good and funny. So I liked it overall. Revolves around political stuff so not for everyone. Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist (2022) - this year's drama. Pretty slow, healing, historical. I watched it on my pace and I enjoyed it, not really a bing-watching drama. Not a lot of romance...I would say no romance at all, I heard they're making season 2. May I Help You (2022) - this one's still ongoing, I am at ep. 6 at the moment and till now I like everything, though the first couple of episodes had me in doubt. Nothing much to say now, as k-drama writers have a tendency to ruin things, so I will make a final say after 16 eps. But it seems promising.
I loved it so much, 9/10 for me. And considering the fact that most of the dramas I liked I rated 7,5-8 (for me 7,5/10 is a pretty good rating), it shows how much I enjoyed watching this one! But I think this is one of those dramas that you either love or hate, with no in-betweens. The humour is such a personal preference after all.
I genuinely want to know why they keep doing this! Can anyone who has some knowledge of the industry tell me why this exists?
The first season holds a special place in my heart just because I have a personal attachment to it- it was one of my first thai bls. If I would watch it now after seeing ITSAY or recent GMMTV bls like BB or VV or even KP, I would drop it without a doubt. But back then it was one of the world-changing experiences for me that introduced me to this beautiful world of bls lol But let's forget the recent ones - even Sotus was better than 2 moons 1 in terms of acting and plot. 2 moons 2 was something I couldn't keep watching- it was already bad enough. But now they're making 2 moons 3??? Why? Is this series that popular? I have so many questions...
I'm about half through the drama, and it's entertaining and all, I actually quite enjoy it.
My only complaint is that they changed his hairstyle all of a sudden! I really hate it lol The ml had such a soft look with his hair down and the side part...Now with his hair up he looks kind of average. It seems like something that would be popular in 2017, so that explains this poor choice a bit.
Yes, commenting on a very important matter, I know, I know...
I can definitely see why people like it so much (based on the rating etc) and while I admit it is entertaining, the problem is that it's all there is to it. I couldn't properly cheer for the main protagonist, couldn't sympathize with him or relate to him. There's no tension, no intrigue. You can just tell from the first episodes the ml is gonna be fine no matter what, he's surrounded by all these powerful people and he just doesn't have anyone as clever and calculating as him as his opponent (meaning on the side of antagonists). He wants revenge and I'm just like "ok, do your thing", we know he's gonna get somewhere lol
Even supporting characters have more to them that the ml. I teared up a couple of times when we were introduced to their backstories (prince for example, he seems human and even though he's not so righteous and is selfish, I liked his character) And I can say the same thing about many characters. There were so many that are just much more interesting and worth telling about than the protagonist. I would even rather see the story of Old Huang than his lol
The FL is fine, nothing worth mentioning tbh. I'm not some Chinese drama fan, I watched maybe 3 of them excluding this one and I noticed they really like making the girls with no particularly interesting traits into the FLs. Thankfully the romance is not prevailing here so it's watchable.
The visuals are good, fights have a good quality, the costumes etc aren't bad too. So if you have nothing to do I would recommend it because why not. But it's not a must-watch, definitely not the same as Joy of Life (I initially started watching it because of the lead actor and the hope that it might be something close to JoL, so I'm at fault here for having these thoughts in the first place xD)
I remember that he was the only one I liked in the Tale of Nokdu and I felt sad that he was at best a 2nd ML in most of his dramas...So I'm very happy he is ML in EAW. And of course he's gorgeous there.
I watched UWMA and Why RU and yet I noticed him only when I've watched Triage recently. I guess he had really minor roles there because after Triage I just can't stop thinking about him, he is really good there! Especially in ep 12 where he has the most screen time. He has such a pleasant aura and soft looks, I want dramas with him as a main character so I hope we'll see it soon. He deserves it.
I don't know, I'm not impressed with this one, dropped it halfway and watched the ending just to know if I was right about some things. They made some questionable decisions just to drag out the show and make it more mysterious so that people would be confused like...every second. But if it was quite enjoyable for me at the beginning, after the 7th ep it became just silly and I was laughing every episode. "Beyond evil" is better imo tho I don't know if I can really compare them.
