13 episodes in and the only thing I'm comfortable guessing with any degree of accuracy are Han Yeo Jin's outerwear choices.

WHY TF DID THEY KILL SEO NOH HE WAS MY FAV
Right? I wasn't prepared for that, I just naively assumed since all the important deaths are fixed to come in a due time and we start already knowing the outcome, side characters are relatively safe. I sort of hoped for him ending up with redeemed Myung Hee one day. Think again.

I think the drama is seriously problematic. I operated on the belief that Ji-hoon simply cannot be Hyun-jae son,…
It's not implied, it's straight out spelled out, as straight as saying 'that's how I met my father' in ep 1-2, having a watch as a memento of him or BH carrying memorial services all those years. Haven't you watched that episode showing how the original HJ goes his way, mixed with scenes of our HJ in 2017? It's all there and it's not some ass-pulled last minute solution [admittedly, I was afraid they will try pulling a Queen In Hyun's Man with the sticker to bring him back to 2017, but they didn't]. HJ splitted in two because of the twin typhoon, that's how the original HJ kept existing. Past isn't to be changed, it's already happened. He just got a second chance.
Don't be annoyed, think it through.

Ha, so there were two HJs afterall and the other man from the lake was himself (how HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban like). And he stole his-not his son's crush.
Nice wrap up. Thumbs up.

What a tearjerker these episodes are....OMG Daboong was so fine and the President's scenes made me cry to…
I never said anything about shipping. The romantic plotline certainly was thrilling and for quite a long time I wasn't 100% sure who the lead is (despite triple accidental kiss, duh) and even whether there is an endgame at all, but when it settled, it felt right too, because a 2nd lead was clearly a 2nd lead all along, he had his chances and blew it. I value this. After skimming through comments I approached it more as a RH than anything else, so I wasn't personally disappointed, but reading comments on dramabeans I can see many people were, because initially it was marketed more as a variety music/coming-of-age/family drama, but typical romcom overempowered the rest (and about some choices in the story I am disappointed, because after HJ joined you-know-what and became you-know-who it was like a checklist of cringiest romcom cliches, which stood in a jarring contrast to the freshness of the first half or so). As for the music plotline, I don't mind how little screentime it took compared to other similar dramas, because once you've seen one, you've seen them all. The main perk of that genre for me is that music throughout drama is actually listenable. As for the rest, it's a matter of ratio - most of side characters were underused, I'd love to see more of them and less of the main love triangle and pining. The main girl somehow doesn't work for me either and as the time goes I like her less and less. But I can imagine this drama as a 10 (and I'm not easy with my 10s). I love so many things about it: 90s vibes, pilot, passive time traveller playing with modern gadgets, beeper codes, the way they handled Goblin reference and actually used it within the story instead of just baiting the fans, grandpa-Malsook interactions, grandpa everything!, MJ's lame word-plays practised in private... And how they didn't go into conflict between two companies, but I said it already. How they disarmed conflicts in general, not going strongly into other love triangles (but at the expense of less screentime for MJ, BH and not-suicidal trainee).
I don't have problems with HJ neither and I'm very glad with his development too. It may be my favourite drama of YSY. (But I wouldn't mind seeing him playing someone his age for a change).

How are the first episodes guys ? Is it worth watching .I'm really hesitating to watch it...
Time slip part is intriguing, but MC lands in a middle of usual nonsense with love triangle between an incompent girl hunted by a loan sharks and a handsome boss of a restaurant she works in. So depends how is your tolerance for that.

8.5 isn't bad considering how many people were dissapointed with how the show turned vs. how it was initially marketed or couldn't get invested into romance part due to a father-son(?) ickiness. I wasn't finishing a kdrama with such a pleasure for a long time, it was a 10 for me at some point, but I admit it's not consistently good throughout 20 episodes and maybe if I was watching it weekly and not riding on the initial hype, I'd be more annoyed with some things.

After a second look at the synopsis I can see where the confusion is coming from. It's not all fluff. Here's…
Hm, maybe you're right. I only remember scenes with his brother now. It could be useful for them to have an inside man, but for now Rin doesn't side with his family.

Lol at SP. But apparently they reached amnesia part eventually, I just didn't stick for that long.

so many things unsolved and they throw a symptomless illness incurable in the 90s at us.
I party like it, because it renders all the guessing who's the culprit of the disappearance pretty useless (in a scenario with a culprit and not HJ faking the whole thing). It just seems out of the blue. And agree he has to come back anyway.
But who's the father? Will someone finally ask BH? I can't believe the possibility of changing the past wasn't addressed up to episode 29-30. And who was the other man on the lake?

On a positve note, I just love how this show disarms possible drama with that other music company.

Oh, you're right. I meant when public stations stick to one fixed format, other channels will have one reason fewer to manipulate with the length so drastically.

Review Romance Blue
That's a comment, not a review. There is not even a full page of comments below, so you don't risk your warning being buried anytime soon.

"“Romance Blue” is a web drama that focuses its storyline around people who are afraid of love. The title is derived from the saying ‘marriage blues,’ which describes a feeling of depression that a person may feel before getting married. In the context of this web drama, ‘romance blues’ describes the depressed feelings a person may feel before starting a new love."
Which part of this sounds cute and fluffy?

what I really hate about the split episodes is 1. when they simply make a cut, but there is no actual conclusion…
I haven't seen a recap in evenly-numbered episode yet, only in odd ones. Meaning after the break. Dear lord, I hope they won't go that way and have enough trust in viewers to remember what was happening 5 minutes ago.
MOLS had some structural problem, they were trying to do something Durarara-style and it blew up in their hands (rewind and show events from a different perspective). Or maybe I'm giving them too much credit and they were just trying to water down what they had to meet the time limit. That recaps were vile.

It's also annoying when the next scene in the second part of the episode doesn't follow the last scene from the first one. Geez, even trying to phrase it when talking about it is a hassle.

(if you insist on inserting loosely related gifs, can you please put enough text in between them so the article would be readable? It's really hard to focus this way.)

Thinking that an episode split will decrease the amount of PPL is naive, as recently proved by The Best Hit. No company focused on profit will willingly stop doing something profitable for them for the sake of artistic value or viewers' benefit. Splitting episodes in half is just following was aready practised with longer movies in Korean public TV. As for the consequences for the shows, it's too early to speak about actual format change, because changes are superficial. The total runtime stays the same. We're only getting more forced pre-commercial break cliffhangers, which cheapens the trick.
I fail to see how it improves work conditions either - it's the same amount of footage produced every week, just with a commercial break. A way to improve showmakers comfort is a shift towards preproduced dramas, not cutting their work in smaller pieces and stuffing commercial in between.

And since when people are forced to finish a video? You can even watch it in 5 minutes bits if that's all the attention span you got.

/but I'm not against the standardisation. The ratings war leading to make a show 1 minute longer and longer in order to grab some extra ratings points is detrimental for the quality of the shows too. It has to stop. *looking at you and your 1 hour and 15 minutes shows, tvN*
