I already have a headcanon that she gets a grip of herself and instead of serving tea this time she joins the astronomer, so they can make flying machines together and all the bloodshed and killing perfectly fine horses to make a point happens somewhere else.
As to why are they choosing to throw the best and most unique parts out the window, I'm still confused. She isn't even that good with history, she's confused who among the princes will rule next. It takes all the irony of knowing others fate and lavirating around it masterfully but not knowing hers away.
Maybe they just like generic characters and their six packs better.

I'm disappointed with the 13th as for now, he was my favourite. I'm also curious will we see the head eunuch (or is the astronomer his replacement?)?
4th is just not the 4th and it changes the entire power distribution with him being an outcast. If he's just driven by resentment and rejection and not by the desire to protect his team, the story loses its tragic core for me.

is she compared with Liu Cecilia or just bashed on her own? I have a soft spot for IU, but need more time to adjust to this version of the portrayal.
Not that others were much better when we look at the acting and not the fanservice.

I still have great expectations from this version. In the original the love plotlines was messy for me, the changes in her heart wasn't motivated enough - she struggled for eps and then suddenly everything was fine. It could be more condensed and cleared up.
The characters are not what they were tho. From now on I'm making a clear cut from the Chinese version, because the story already plays differently.
The girl is fluffier and brattier. What I loved about the original was how smart and uncannily adaptive she was, like an empty vessel. She was cheerful at the beginning, but the true difference lied in her very modern attachment to the right of self-determination. (I also think internal monologue wasn't used that heavily, but I can be wrong.)
The 4th was waay subtler. He wasn't walking around with a big, black neon hovering above his head *beware, future king, lots of bloodshed*. A shiny, noisy neon, like the outfit Iljimae, the master thief was wearing. He wasn't angsty and brutal at the very beginning. He got paranoid, but the whole fun was about how he got there.
Their entire interactions were different.
If I were to guess from this 2 eps, it'll only get messier this time.

Ohh, is the OST modern? That's a huge turn off. Is there a lot of singing and random in-your-face mood-setting themes?

And you'd think that a drama that's a one huge PPL of a tv station could at least try to impress with filming skills. Or aim for a steady, undistracting level of decency. Nope.
Ep 2 gets slightly better and they abandoned that filter. Still confused how they're going to make 24 eps from a 16 (optimistacally speaking) episodes story.

maybe she could have a tea party with the stepsister. She and her mother also don't add much right now. Why are they even still getting airtime? Such a filler.

After ep 5 I'm so done with this show. It's getting too much Diabolik Lovers. The way the heroine lost all her initital strenght and became passive, nosy Candy is too much for me to handle. I'm having serious anxiety issues after the shower scene. Is this his method of stealing her? Creeping her out? But I guess invading personal space is their common theme.
Now I can only hope that people will get massive, like street riots huge 2nd lead syndrome on AHJ and he will get a lead role worthy of his charm next time. With an actual material written to work with (sorry, Blood).

There will be a wife, we haven't seen her yet. His sister is played by Jeong Hye Seong, not Chae Soo Bin. (It would be easier to follow if she wasn't wearing a fatsuit and was referred by her name instead of a title.)
