Am I the only one who loved the hug scene not because we finally saw a HUGE development on the love-line, but…
/armchair psychology here, but I want to have a coherent view on where it's heading/
it's not a matter of subconciousness - he has never repressed or muted his feelings - he's emotionless. He has no brain capibility for falling for anyone. Meeting a nice girl isn't gonna fix his frontal lobe out of nowhere. I'm confused with this development, because - incorrectly it seems - I expected something like Dr.Frost (or BC's Sherlock).
Am I the only one who loved the hug scene not because we finally saw a HUGE development on the love-line, but…
can I hijack on this?
so, there is a love-line? No that I expected a psychological accuracy from a tv show, but is it even possible for a sociopath? I have troubles following it.
if Seo Ri/Yeon Hee was willing to die just like that for her true love why did they fought so hard to remain alive…
I think if she died before all the other candles were lit, the curse would have fallen on the entire country and saving the country had higher priority. So they have to struggle this much to lift the curse first, and then were left with the choice who will sacrifice oneself for the last candle. And he still had this book to write.
The ring sequence in episode 1 was over the top, but kinda beautiful, topping even the fake arm incident and the sixth sense protecting from the sudden death by a poison dart. Lol.
I like it so far.
Tbh, that's not the ending I was expecting but to be fair, it's not that bad imo. It's full of emotions and even…
me neither! I was almost sure they gonna pull out the usual "that's okay, neither of you has to die, the fact you were willing to is enough" trick. I wasn't emotionally prepared for this, but now that I think of this, it's very fitting. I mean, what else have I expected. The twin-brother dies, the child in a womb dies, Baron Samedi dies, why would they just have an happy ending. It's a miracle that the monk survived.
Kind of don't understand all the people complaining about dragginess. For me, yes, episode 17 was a little slower,…
I never hit fast forward on this too. Just have a little mental drinking game with myself for every time Hong Joo has a knive on her throat or Seo Ri is set on fire.
Actually that begs for a comparison when the show ends: who was nearly dead more times - Hong Joo or Royal Gambler's Lee In Jwa? /I think it's she, but I still have two more eps of Gambler.
the teaser it's out! I'm fangirling like a maniac. https://youtu.be/PoqXEAH5Tg0
/ seriously, guys, watch it even if you don't usually click in video links (I don't). It's beyond adorable.
Episode 17 is a BIG JOKE! Can the story be more draggy than that? Oh gosh! This drama is good but please don't…
[not that I defended the extension, because it could have been easily wrapped up in 16 or maybe even 12 eps, but...]
Funny thing is the dragginess actually fits those characters, it's not completely unmotivated. Like with not killing the head taoist when he turns evil - it's weak and naive of them to expect of him to just shake it off, but there's a whole fragile structure of interconnected choices and a proper sequence of events that must be followed in order to get rid of the curse. They have their fatal flaws that make them act the way they act. One part of me screams 'security measures for the love god! don't leave important artifacts unprotected! when you inprison your enemy make sure to, idk, maybe capture her warriors too? urghhh', but the other part just enjoys the puzzle.
i'm i the only one who think that Kim Hyun Ji is still alive? maybe she is just in a coma! because she looks different…
I think it's just a part of a convention. When a ghost is a leading character, she or he rarely looks as scary as other ghosts (see: Arang and the Magistrate) - we are too accustomed to have pretty heroines. And even when it does look scary, it mostly happens at the beginning to make a strong point (clearly differentiate him or her from the living). Why?
1. heavy make-up is time-consuming, destroys the skin and obscures facial expressions. Why hire a popular actress only to never show her face?
2. CGI is expensive and time-consuming. They aren't going to bother through the entire season. Point made - not necessary anymore.
3. Mainly for supportive characters: as a story goes on, ghosts become more familiar (=less scary). They talk instead of screaming inarticulated things and look more and more like a human being. (see: Master's Sun)
At first I was like: "wooow, nice expensive effects you have here", then I was like "what the heck,…
She is, isn't she? I just finished watching Arang and the Magistrate and the difference in quality of acting between her and the vilain there is striking. When Arang's vilain tries to act vicious and out-of-the-worldly, she resembles a reptile instead.
Gotta admit, I'm pretty surprised at all the "REVERSE HAREM!!" complaints. Have we all collectively…
Well. I don't mind RH as a genre as long as it's clearly stated as such. Some of my favourite anime are RH and I still enjoy watching them. Maybe the poster should look a little differently, because now it doesn't really reflect the dynamics.
It's not the reason I'm dropping this (frankly, more like promising myself to drop it but still fast forward to YGS's scenes every week, because I'm a sucker for 2nd leads).
There are plenty of other reasons to drop any show. Prioritizing other tv series. Having seen better medical dramas and not really caring about this one. Having seen dramas in which the main theme had more impact on the plot and wasn't just for the decoration or dramas with fuller developed, more complex power struggles. Being let down with Seo Woo's character development (I really expected more from her than being petty and insecure).
I'm yet to see how Jisoo's character adds anything to the plot. He had a 30 sec scene carrying a barrel and people are freaking out. Over what? Does he serve any purpose other than being an emergency taxi? The same goes for the gangster. I honestly thought they are the same person, because I see no use for them both. I'm just overloaded with them and in all this the main guy somehow fades. That what makes a "RH" / emotional porn for me. An excessive use of plot devices, a ready-made, prefabricated and easily digestible story that generates "feels". I can have it anytime without covering my eyes on medical scenes.
/ but that doesn't make Hye Jung any less cool!
Lol @ people always asking for season 2. What kdramas in a whole history of kdrama ever got second season (variety…
Thanks! I sincerely wanted to know since I didn't watched those and the only thing google could spill was some lists with comments like "yeah, Master's Sun should totally have a season 2, they could travel the world and solve ghost-puzzles! yay!"... *facapalm*
So, how does everyone feel about it?
Essential or skippable?
for the new version of Park Shin Hye - essential.
Plot-wise - boring af. I skipped every other scene last ep. Just another reiteration of hospital power struggles on top, betting with patients lifes down on the operation table, blah blah blaah. And I'm so let down with what they made of Seo Woo's character - she had a potential to be something more than a jealous, spoiled 2nd female lead, I'm dissapointed with her.
Now I'm only watching for the 2nd lead emo-pRon and hoping they don't make a reverse harem out of it (of course they will).

RJY - 10/10, drama - 6 at best.
