Who else was disappointed not to see Amy get a Bonui-knockoff haircut and realizing it looks so bad on her she has to return to Canada at once and take Gary with her? Such a wasted opportunity.
I'm kinda glad Suho's mum didn't make a total makeover for the heroine. The way they're handling makeovers doesn't even annoys me anymore, but when I think about it, it's ludicrous. Are we supposed to believe Bonui walks bare faced? Lol, she clearly doesn't. She wears the exact same shade of lip product she applies later in the boutique, just less of it. And the main shareholder's comment about braces was really dense. Dalnim doesn't wear it for her own pleasure, does she? She wears it precisely to look better in the future, she wouldn't just take it off one day because she's told it looks ugly...
wait, were there haters on the drama? Am I missing something? True, some characters were sometimes hard to root for, but the drama? What can one possibly hate it for?
Two quick thoughts on fashion, because it seems to bring a LOT of comments here, on streaming sites and DB:
1. they are trying to purposely de-sexualize her by hiding her silhoutte under tons of layers, to counter-balance the initial theme of "catching the tiger" (well done, 100% success here - and I'm not necessarily against it, not every female lead has to be super pretty or attractive or whatever. Plus, it contrasts nicely with Amy's clothes / th usual sexy-style of female leads, or more often supportive characters and ex gfs).
2. Slip dress + t-shirt / sheer longsleeve combo (or layers in general) is huge now [exhibit A: https://66.media.tumblr.com/95a3b32a5ae2d0459f3b2d2850bde3b4/tumblr_o9flphdw491r1obk0o1_500.jpg]. Actually, I've seen it for a while in kdramas (think Gong Hyo Jin in The Producers). The problem with kdramas stylists is they often overdo it and/or chose the visuals (prettiness/novelty) over veritability (a certain wanna-be screenwritter owning an Isabel Marant coat among her humphteen other coats and only wearing it once, anyone?). Clothes are so on point, they seem too much anchored in time and quickly become outdated (so 2016). Remember Blood or Hyde, Jekyll, me? The clothes there were ridiculous, because in some sense they were too fashionable. It's similar here. A current trend escalates on the entire wardrobe of Bonui. It's not what happens in real life.
But hey! Kudos for limiting it only to her! I hate when stylists don't differentiate characters' style and the entire crew seems to have one closet.
is it just me or has anyone been paying attention to the sounds that are put in? the ones that are part of do…
Yes, the sound is overdone, especially at the beginning. But I think it's brilliant, because people generally doesn't notice sound engineering in the movies! I've never even thought about it before watching this British horror (Berberian Sound Studio) and it was like a personal revelation :) So this how it's done. Celery.
It's like a tiny hommage to those people we don't see.
I love those meta bits in kdramas. When they show us how the setting is done or how actors tremble in their thin clothes and are wrapped in blankets and extra coats. Or how writters are treated. All the mockeries of product placement. How shots are taken in this bizzare way when a pair stands not exactly facing in each other (think The King of Dramas, when Siwon was making faces! edit: or how a kiss can be faked by clever positioning).
On plus side: Bonui finally looked decent in this white combo (but why does she sleep in it? Just in case someone came by in 4am?). If she makes all those clothes herself, it at least explains few things...
Tbh, that kiss was romantic and all, but I always feel uncomfortable when in dramas male lead kisses the girl…
Yeah... All that happens in last few eps makes me cringe. Only RJY keeps me watching, because the story itself is boring and cliche and I can't bring myself to care about anyone but Suho and his assistant. The initial nonsense with superstitions was nothing compared to this. Bonui is my most disliked type of female character, with her noble idiocy, unnecessary self sacrifice and making everyone around her waiting for her reply (and worse, when given, assume it's not valid, because she doesn't think straight - enter kiss). I really hate watching this push and pull game. It gives a great disfavour to the whole "no means no" thing.
(And really, cleaning the corridors in hospital? How exactly does it help her sister to wake up? I never once heard her discussing therapy, looking for medical solutions, anything. She just checks up with nurses. And talking to people in coma is a thing. If I were her sister, I'd wake up really pissed up.)
Plus, I'm kinda dissapointed LSH's character is such a lousy second lead. I honestly liked him better even when he was a manipulative jerk with no morals in High School King of Savvy. As someone has already said before, he's such a cockblocker in this story. Whimpy little thing with pretenses and high expectations.
Maybe next time.
Yay, I'm so hyped right now. Park Shin Hye is different then usual. Lee Sung Kyung is different then usual. Kim Young Ae is different then usual. I'm going to take a leap of faith and assume if someone is able to cast actors outside their little labels, it's going to be worth watching.
on viki people are complaining that the male lead is unattractive. I get that he might not be everyone's cup of…
not to mention his past love experience makes him extremely cautious and him throwing a fit about being treated instrumentally hits home. I find him a very well thought out character. The way his past shapes his vulnerabilities is logical. I mean, he's clearly not a machine and I think RYJ plays it well.
I got bored with usual chebol nonsense and 2nd lead who smiles too much. After watching Reply 1988 this love triangle seems so silly. I guess it's as far as NGM being cute can get me.
I may dislike the actress (or the persona she usually plays), but I'll give her this: her dramas are good, one…
Give it a try! She still plays a quirky person, but seems much calmer compared to KMHM or that last one about beauty magazine.
Now I'm really biased for Ryu Joon Yeol (but still not enough to remember what comes frst - Y or J...) and LSH, so I would recommend it even if it was only for them.
Lol @ people always asking for season 2. What kdramas in a whole history of kdrama ever got second season (variety shows and franchise like Reply series, I Need Romance or Dream High doesn't count - we're talking about continuation of the same storyline and characters, not reusing the concept)? Maybe a few if any.
I may dislike the actress (or the persona she usually plays), but I'll give her this: her dramas are good, one of a few rewatchable I found so far. Even if I'm irritated with her initially, I almost never skip her parts, which says a lot, because I have dramas I love, but if I was to rewatch them, I would skip almost every scene with female lead.
