I'm waiting in line as well. Ma Xiao Yu's last drama "The Love of a Fool" was stellar. I know production value and a good script are important, but there's something to be said about an actor's ability to carry a drama. Ma Xiao Yu definitely has the chops. He's not just a handsome face with a charismatic stage presence; he can definitely emote and act!
Iโve watched several dramas of ZLH before but I never like him in any of them, but him in this drama is EVERYTHINGGGGG.Like…
I feel EXACTLY the same way. I am probably one of the few that wasn't completely dazzled by ZLH's performance in Kunning Palace. Overall, it was an enjoyable watch, but I just wasn't blown away my first time seeing him in a drama. However, in this modern role, I'm totally digging his character. Maybe it's the script and/or how his character is written, but he plays the greenest green flag ML so well. He has a little bit of green tea in him too with the "tricks" he uses to win the FL over, but he's so non-toxic and healthy for her. Seriously though, ZLH is 100% boyfriend/husband material in this, and it would be nearly impossible not to fall for him!
I have nothing but mad respect and heaps of gratitude for hard-working fansubbers. Thank you so much for your efforts and for making the content available to us. These subs are excellent! Keep up the great work! ๐๐๐ค

I know, right? I mean, I could've labeled ALL of those clips as 'Hot', because well, that would technically be accurate. However, I thought I needed to somehow differentiate between them, LOL. I actually had to narrow down my choices to just those because I had maybe 5-6 more that I couldn't seem to choose between. I mean, how does one choose between an ice cream cone or a sundae? ๐ฆ๐จ They're both delicious in their own ways, yeah?
I'm also 100% on the same page with you regarding that shorter hairstyle and a 'man in uniform' drama. I thought the EXACT same thing when I saw that clip for the first time. I hope he does get the chance to star in a modern drama that requires a uniform where he can act as a police officer๐ฎโโ๏ธ, soldier๐, or firefighter๐จโ๐. But for now, I guess we'll have to settle for what we've got to see of him in historical military garb ๐๏ธ and as a pilot ๐จโโ๏ธ.

------------------- 'A Hairline Fracture: I Strand Alone' is the hair-owing documentary about a single strand becoming its own mane character in a critically acclaimed series. The documentary reveals how DGZ's follicle friend became his follicle fiend, and it details their split end. It discloses how the strand became super arrogant after the massive success of 'Strand by Me: A DGZ Side Part Story' which proved it was knot your average hairdo.
The series received massive acclaim by several fringe critics who all gave it growing reviews:
**** "A true snip of genius..." **** "A cut above the rest!" **** "Head and shoulders above all other dramas I've seen this year."
As the focal point of this cutting-edge series, the strand went out with a bang and became a million-hair nearly overnight. The strand was quoted by the media as saying, โIt takes two to tangle and I won hair and square." Basically, this was taken as a decl-hair-ation of war by DGZ. The strand was accused of stealing DGZ's spotlight, which was a bald move. It had become quite the c-hair-acter, and DGZ filed a suit against it for hair-rassment. There was a lot of public outcry to put the strand on lock-down and the two could not e-scalp media attention. This was the last strand which became a turning point for the both of them. It was a hairy situation which was quickly spiraling out of control.
Initially, DGZ thought that the two couldn't reconcile and he tried to cut him out of his life. Like the old saying, "Hair today, gone tomorrow." However, *spoiler alert*, the strand eventually grew on him over time. They both sought out counseling and went to see a t-hair-apist to work on rep-hairing their issues. DGZ had to first brush off all the negativity in order to comb to terms with their relationship. Fortunately, talking it out turned out to be t-hair-apeutic for both of them and they really began to gel. The strand had to remind him that, "Iโll always be hair for you. If we can just try to work toget-hair, youโll get the bang of it."
The strand's sincere sentiments caused DGZ to mullet everything over and get in touch with his roots. After everything that had happened between them, he realized at the end of the day that they were both just splitting hairs. Finally, he came to appreciate that they were truly a match pomade in heaven and decided they could be fringe with benefits. He now c-hair-ishes the time they have together and thereโs love in the hair between the two of them. What was once just a hair piece has become a hair peace. One might say that a new hair-a has begun.
This is the only documentary which depicts the real-life relationship between DGZ (the man, the myth, and the legend) and his hair, and it has been getting a lot of buzz from the press. This true story of shear brilliance has been decl-haired so inspiring that it's helping to shave the way for others. Now that the follicle feud is officially over, fans can finally let their hair down, turn up the volume, and have a blowout. Many fans are dyeing to see both more DGZ and strand content, and there's so much more to comb in the future.
Whew. I really should've trimmed that down a bit. Now that I've reached the outer limits of my creativity and am bordering on insanity, I should snip things in the bud while I still can, LOL. ๐คช๐
I lost it at "surgically precise haircut" ๐๐๐ Thanks for the good laugh! Let me start watching now just…
LOL I'm practically wheezing from reading these responses. ๐ The "emotionally intense stare rehearsals"? I can totally picture a class where DGZ reveals his trade secrets on how he's able to stare so intensely at his co-stars. We all know that bare minimum, 50% of his success is just because it's DGZ and intensity is simply encoded in his DNA. ๐งฌ The rest is pure talent, baby!
Also, this --> "'Strand by Me: A DGZ Side Part Story' ๐ฌ Subtitles optional." Pffffwahahaha! ๐ Pure genius. That title had me squealing, so much so that I simply had to take your inspiration and run with it. Of course, I won't run with trimming scissors in my hand, or I might get shear-iously hurt. โ๏ธ ๐ฉนSo, while you're working on the posters and promos for the hit spin-off series, how about this? (See Spoiler)๐
This was sooo very good. The quality of short/vertical dramas keeps getting better and better. Now, if only we…
This really was one of the best if not THE best short/vertical drama I've seen to date. From the script, to the performances of all the cast, to the music and cinematography this story grabbed me from the start. It might have been low budget, but it didn't feel cheap the way some verticals do. The plot and clothing weren't recycled, and the acting never felt over-the-top. Everything was put together exquisitely, and the emotions ran deep in this. I agree with another reviewer that it felt more like a well put together and well thought out indie film.
That said, this drama for some reason struck a chord with me and reminded me of the Japanese series Panda Judges the World. For those who don't want to be spoiled on that drama, you should stop reading โ ๏ธHEREโ ๏ธ. In PJTW, two female twin sisters are in a fire and one dies. Due to survivor's guilt and the fact that their mother had favoritism towards one twin, the surviving twin implores a psychologist to hypnotize her to become her deceased sister.
The mother in PJTW was the absolute opposite of the mother in this drama; she wanted her daughter to retain the personality of her favorite child. However, in this story, the mother encouraged her son to be himself. That said, the end result of PJTW and this drama was the same. Both characters ended up suppressing their own personalities in order to live out the life of their deceased sibling for someone else's benefit. Talk about sad. Talk about sacrifice. That ending was a huge gut punch that totally knocked the wind out of me. Yeah, I'll be thinking about this one for a while.
This was sooo very good. The quality of short/vertical dramas keeps getting better and better. Now, if only we can have consistently intelligible subs and interesting new plots like this, the short/vertical drama market is REALLY going to explode more than it already has. Not to mention, so many super talented and equally gorgeous short/vertical drama actors and actresses keep emerging onto the scene that it's hard to keep up.
Many of these actors are so captivating; imo some are on par with or even better than some of the mainstream actors. This is especially evident considering the constraints on time, choice of scripts, and limited production value by which they currently operate. It just goes to show that you don't necessarily need a ton of money to tell a gripping story. You just need a decent script and talented people to properly portray the vision.
I'm hopeful that well-written and well-acted stories like these will continue being produced within the shorter drama formats. Keep up the excellent work, OGs of Short/Vertical Dramaland! A whole new genre of easily digestible and delicious short dramas is being forged right now and I'm totally here to devour it. With dedicated viewership, honest critiques, and continued support from fans this niche of Dramaland will surely evolve into something great.
P.S. To the Master of Scripts, please continue to give Ma Xiao Yu engrossing emotionally complex roles like this one. He slays them! P.S.S. Additional comments specifically about the drama in Spoiler.

For sure! Here's the drafted beauty sleep, barbells, blended protein and controlled breathing contract ready to be signed. ๐๐๏ธ๐ Let's help keep DGZ happy, healthy, and hot at all costs. โค๏ธ Because that's "just the way we like him." โค๏ธ https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZYDXwKuku2I (Happy) https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FM4NAEZrHqg (Healthy) https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gZDY9ccekZo (Hot) As for the fan made edits, I may need someone to resuscitate me after viewing those. Regarding that treacherous rogue hair strand, I think DGZ may have had a hand in its creation. I think he may have realized he created a monster and sensed that it was wanting to take on a life of its own. ๐งโโ๏ธ In case it might try to start its own spin-off series and steal his thunder๐ฉ๏ธ, the master eradicated the threat. โ๏ธ๐๐คฃ๐ https://www.youtube.com/shorts/WCMhzDweDQs (Created) https://www.youtube.com/shorts/k4MILtDJJkQ (Obliterated) We will certainly miss that sly strand, but sometimes you can't let your haircut get "ahead" of yourself. ๐คญ๐

LOL that disclaimer! ๐คฃ๐ For real though, DGZ's chemistry with his partners is the stuff of legends. His tall stature, smoldering eyes and sculpted physique are immediately impressive. However, it's his acting prowess that makes you watch through the credits and come back for more. It doesn't matter if the script is uninspired or if his acting partners don't give back as much as they're given. Even if DGZ has to carry the entire drama on those perfectly defined V-shaped shoulders, it's worth watching for those subtle smiles, playful smirks, seductive stares, and heart-wrenching emotional scenes. ๐๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ The man can literally express the full gamut of human emotion within the 10-15 mins he's allotted per episode. So come for the visuals, stay for the performance. Someone seriously needs to give this man a full-length drama stat!
And you're 100% right; some of his acting partners do often look like a deer in headlights. ๐ฑ It's like they don't know what to do with themselves when DGZ unleashes that gaze and those passionate kisses on them. I wonder if it's all an act or they really are just stunned to the point of being blown away by his delivery. ๐คฏ๐จ (Case and point: The end of Episode 14 of this drama. How the FL could manage to somehow walk away after that level of intensity is beyond me.) When DGZ acts out those scenes, you can tell he's totally immersed, and he always gives it his all. On a scale of 1 to 10, he certainly operates at an 11! ๐ฅโก๐ฅ
I lost it at "surgically precise haircut" ๐๐๐ Thanks for the good laugh! Let me start watching now just…
As for the romance scenes, I'm convinced DGZ is one of the best if not the best on-screen kisser in his field. ๐ I've seen some close competitors recently in some of the newer vertical short dramas where actors are allowed to express passion on set more freely. However, DGZ holds his own and is so believable in his delivery that even if his partner has the personality of a windsock๐, he makes them look good. ๐ฉโโค๏ธโ๐โ๐จ
And that knifepoint ๐ช precision haircut. It may be the first time that any actor almost sustained an injury from the angle of their haircut being so sharp on set, LOL. ๐ค He deserves ALL the awards! ๐๐ญ๐ฌ๐ฅ

Exactly! He mercilessly robbed us all of our sanity and then blessed us in spades โ ๏ธ with that gorgeous view. ๐ช๐ญ๐๐ฒ๐ณ๐ฅต๐ฅ
Seriously though, how does DGZ even have time to keep up that perfect physique? His line-up of TBA dramas is stacked and continuously growing. ๐ He must only have time to act and workout. (Not that I'm complaining.)
He's probably doing crunches and lifting weights between scenes. ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ Does the man ever get to eat or sleep? ๐ด Does he even know the meaning of those words? His definition of a bed is probably "a long rectangular thing to push co-stars down on" during each drama. ๐๏ธ ๐
Maybe going forward he can just let AI generate his scuplted bod on occasion in order to give himself a few much-needed moments of rest and reprieve. ๐ค๐ฆพ๐ฌ๐ Or, maybe he can just allow himself a piece of cake now and again as a reward for all that hard work. You both have me rolling! ๐คฃ It DOES look like someone took some medical grade trimming shears โ๏ธto precisely tailor those little wispy bits of hair to perfectly frame his face. The way his fringe seductively drapes over his eyes totally gives him that mysterious dark n' sexy vibe.
