I just finished watching all 12 episodes, and I’m honestly glad I didn’t drop this drama after the first episode, especially after that questionable wolf scene! I really like both the ML and the FL. They’re intelligent, strategic, and they complement each other really well. Even though the ML already has one wife and two concubines, it’s clear he doesn’t have any emotional attachment to them. It seems likely that he married them for political reasons. On the other hand, I get the sense that the wife and concubines do have some feelings for him. I’m still unsure about the exact relationship between the ML’s wife and Huan Jin. Are they siblings? Cousins? By Episode 12, the plot is finally coming into clearer focus. The Crown Prince is secretly operating a silver mine and is involved in a counterfeit coin scheme. Empress Lv seems to be biding her time, waiting for the Crown Prince to fall from power so she can benefit from the wealth behind it all. Meanwhile, the ML is also preparing to take revenge on the Meng family for slaughtering his parents and destroying his childhood. What I didn’t expect was that ML is actually a cousin of Mu Wu Xia, that twist surprised me.
I’m now wondering where the plot will go from here. We’re only at Episode 12, but it already feels like we know the whole story… and there are still 24 episodes to go!
There’s something about the way NanRui ‘carelessly’ lit those fireworks on the floor which ultimately resulted…
I was thinking the same, that the uncle and 18th Prince were the real villains , however I'm not sure anymore, especially since someone mentioned that Chang Long often plays this type of character in other dramas , so for now, I will stick with suspecting only the uncle as the true villain.
Ep 10 and I'm puzzled. How is it possible that Chu Gui Hong can recognize the imposter isn't the real Li Shi Liu based on his voice, yet completely fails to realize that Nan Heng and Li Shi Liu sound exactly the same? It feels illogical.
Episode 9 : Not NH witnessing the scenarios in which he gets killed 🤣🤣🤣🤣
FL's plan : Centers on using dance to captivate the ML, creating an opportunity to assassinate him. However, this plot feels somewhat implausible, considering she is already engaged and the ML has previously attempted to kill her on multiple occasions.
2nd ML's plan: portrays NH as a villain in a rather exaggerated and comical light, he's shown casually eating and spitting sunflower, ultimately, everyone involved flees in fear, leaving him behind. CGH dramatically appears with a massive sword and simply kills him. This made me laugh so much 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The FL comes across as idealistic, placing an unreasonable amount of trust in someone she has only just met, hoping he will risk everything to eliminate NH. In contrast, the 2nd ML is more grounded and understandably skeptical, a perspective that feels more rational given the circumstances.
Beyond the assassination plot, I'm particularly intrigued by the mystery surrounding NH's interest in the weapon forging technique, and how CGH came to possess that knowledge.
Please why would she want to understand what truly happened? You said it yourself, he has tried to kill her so…
I don't have to watch Twitter as I'm watching the drama online. In 1st episodes the FL states : "Being famous is nice. Fans are always waiting for him. He doesn't even have to speak for himself. " while her manager states "Are you jealous? Do you want to be famous too? Then try harder! ......Girl, as a Z-list actress you have to ride someones else's wave...Miss Song, if you don't want to stay in this business, then just quit, don't keep dragging down".
If you don't understand english or you watch the episodes superficially, then please stop commenting without knowing what you're talking about.
Other than CGH who is fishy? NH’s uncle? Does he also have a bid for the throne? Because I’m thinking about…
I think the uncle and the 18th Prince are the true villains, and the conflict between Nan Heng and Chu Guiheng might just be a misunderstanding or perhaps even a hidden alliance.

In the very first episode, the female lead shows clear jealousy toward the male lead’s fandom, and her manager openly criticises her for lacking dedication to her work. She’s even told that if she has no genuine interest in this industry, it would be better for her to walk away altogether. Unfortunately, she displays a similar attitude in the historical setting. Even though she knows parts of the script, she fixates on one goal ,defeating Nan Heng , without taking the time to understand the bigger picture or investigate what truly happened. This narrow-minded focus and lack of curiosity about the actual events significantly lower my opinion of her character. As I mentioned before, I really hope her character arc improves in the upcoming episodes and that she is given the opportunity to grow and become more layered and meaningful.
I just finished the 8 episodes, and I have to say I feel really sorry for Nan Heng and the way his family has treated him since childhood. I'm sure he's not responsible for his mother's death, but at the same time, I don’t think Chu Gui is guilty either. The 18th Prince always makes me laugh — he’s extremely dumb, but I think it’s just a cover. I’m not quite sure how I feel about the FL. I can’t say her character makes me laugh. She clearly has an advantage because she knows most of the script, but even though the male lead (ML) has tried to kill her several times (which is somewhat understandable given how much she knows about his past and the fact that she’s engaged to his enemy), she doesn’t seem interested in truly understanding what really happened — that ML is actually fighting to protect innocent people. I really hope her character starts to grow from episode 9 onward, otherwise, she starts to be annoying. I think the real villains are the 18th Prince and ML’s uncle, and that the Emperor knows this and is trying to protect Nan Heng. I really like the four Masters of Waning River Crescent — it seems Liu Yuning enjoys having this kind of setup in most of his dramas :)
I’m looking forward to seeing how the plot develops. It feels like many sad moments are coming soon.
