This is a complicated drama and knowing some of the history will make it make sense a bit more. At least skim over the Wikipedia entries for the end of the Hongwu Emperor reign, Jianwen Emperor, and the beginning of the Yongle Emperor reign. You don't have to go in depth, but at least get an overview or, especially at the beginning, you might get a little lost. This is a good drama with some amazing acting between the two male leads (serious kudos for Chen Ruo Xuan and Leon Zhang), but it is in no way intended for a casual viewer.
Im on ep. 26 and I dont get why this rating is so low, this has been great. There was a shift around ep. 12 or…
Oh thank god. I'm on episode 10 and I still really want to kill Dilabra's character. She's so infuriatingly dumb and overly-flirty when not being really smart. It's hard to watch. I will wait patiently for a few more episodes for something awful to happen so she can stop with the ridiculousness.
Does anyone know what protesting they keep referring to? Why are the protestors wanted by the police? I’m in…
Search Wikipedia for "June Democratic Struggle". In 1987, South Korea was rule by a military regime. The protesters were calling for Democratic elections with a major crackdown occurring in June of that year. The protesters eventually won and Democratic elections were held in December 1987.
At the theaters... In Japan. It was just released July 28, 2023. There is no schedule for international release. Someone will probably get it to the rest of us in a year or so. Or maybe we'll get lucky and Netflix will pick up the distribution rights in 6-8 months or so.
So.... I've seen like 5 or 6 Cdramas centered around the Qin Dynasty with Qin Shi Huang as a central Character. These movies are really fun popcorn movies... but holy crap is it weird seeing all of these pretty well-known characters being Japanese and speaking Japanese. It's.... discombobulating. :):)
Since there is no genre category for xianxia on MDL, almost all xianxia dramas are noted as wuxia and then tagged xianxia to make the distinction. It's just a thing here.
This was okay, but way too long. Also, I kinda hated all the female characters except Fourth Sister-in-Law and Qingtong. I absolutely couldn't stand the General's daughter. Holy crap her character sucked. The story is good (I've never seen any of the other versions of this), but the execution needed a bit more work. Better choreography would have been nice also. The ending, such as it was, was a bit annoying.
This is a solid wuxia drama. Decent story. Good fight scenes and choreography. I didn't like the leading ladies much. In fact I can't stand the FL. I just wanted to slap her through the entire drama. The SFL was too passive for my taste, but I guess she was fine. Of the four, I probably like poison lady best. But they all kind of sucked in their own ways. Other than that though, I enjoyed this.
Just a note for the powers that be.... Sean Sun could join more costume dramas. I wouldn't be mad at all. Hero... Villain... whichever. He looks fine in a long gray wig.
does it have a happy ending? does Oh Sunny and Lee Hyuk end up tg?
Why would that be a happy ending???? He's a horrible person who needs jail time and therapy. Lots and lots of therapy. He has a short fuse who will kill you for even the smallest slights.
I really don't think that would be a happy ending.
Okay I like the cast but oh God the character Cher is so cringy!!! I don’t mind the story and it was a pleasant…
I had the same problem with Rain in Love in the Air. I can't stand this type of over-the-top character. Nothing will make me stop watching a drama faster than if the Female Lead acts like a 12-year-old on crack in straight dramas. So, I don't like it my Female Leads and I certainly don't like it in my Male Leads in BLs. It's so extra and exhausting to watch.
But I remember quite enjoying Golden Girls when I was a teenager. Those old ladies were funny.
I really don't think that would be a happy ending.
