This drama feels like half of it is produced by the guys that did 2gether (https://kisskh.at/39563-2gether-the-series) and Half of it is produced by folks that did Kiss of the Rabbit God (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9097540/). The NC-17 scenes are so weirdly artistic and out of context. What a strange little production.

This is an amazing drama. Tearjerker, but totally worth the ride. After watching that, I have no idea why Liu Xiao Xu isn't in regular dramas or movies. I felt every emotion he tried to convey.
Warning: It does not end and it wraps up nothing at all. And there's tons and tons of repetitiveness, so you're prolly gonna wanna hit that fast forward button a few times, but it's still kind of a fun ride. I enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed it more if there were a part 2.
This wasn't quite AMAZING territory as it's too short to fully explore all the characters and their motivations. The length also effected the pacing of the court politics and made episode 13 almost indecipherable. But this was really good for what it was. Totally enjoyed it. Well written and well acted.
Pay no attention to the consensus on the internet. This (both Season 1 and Season 2) is absolutely perfect. The writing is wonderful. The characters are all, both the heroes and the villains, fully flushed out making you care about them. And they spend the entire drama (both seasons) acting like the characters they're supposed to be. No one acts weirdly out of character, even at the end. Everything is just crazy good. Seriously, the only thing I didn't really like was the very last quick scene in the drama, but only because it's over-the-top cheesy, not for any sort of story reasons. Yes, quite a few important people die by the end, but this is a costume Cdrama. I figure if anyone lives at the end I'm very lucky. Totally worth a watch.

Also my guess on the low rating is that this drama scares people off with all the bureaucracy and math talk. The…
I can't believe how bad the subs are on Amazon. Sometimes, the dialog sub was half the screen. Other times it would move so fast I would have to rewind twice just to read it. And Episode 11 had me hunting all over the internet for an alternative place to watch because of that mismatch. Ugh.
This is brilliant. Fast moving. Excellent dialog. Easy to understand story even if the minutia is about ancient Chinese tax law and land, which is kind of dry. Love love Zhang Ruo Yun in this.
This is my very first Chinese drama after 20 years of watching K-dramas. I've been in a K-drama slump and decided…
I watch both Chinese and Korean (and Taiwanese, Thai, Indonesian, etc.) dramas. Chinese dramas dub the voices in separately from the film portion. It's the dubbing. It makes audio on the dialogue portions weird sometimes. Especially the sound levels. Even if they're using their own voices (which they often don't), they still dub.
I don't get it, but.... China.... what can you do? There are also a ton of censorship rules that change often that you might have fun with.
I haven't been so invested in a group of cheaters since OF.
Yea... but OF was completely chaotic and fun. It never took itself very seriously. This was too angsty to be compared. Also, all the women in OF were a joy to watch. This... not so much :)
One day, they will give Jennie a lead part in a show and I will rejoice and watch it like 4 times in a row, because she rocks and should be given her shot at some point.
They are making a second season? The story is not completed?
You're welcome! I go with.... if Netflix has a hand in it at all, don't count on the "season" thing holding true. Netflix is messing up Kdramas. They really really want to do seasons. Or... you know... just drop the story telling in the middle (see: Kingdom). Ugh!

I have not watched this yet, but generally speaking in Kdramaland seasons of shows have very little to do with each other. Sometimes, you don't even get the same characters and setting (see: Full House 1 & 2; Save Me 1 & 2). They will almost always wrap up a season in a nice bow. Since everyone is raving about this and no one is complaining about being left on a cliff, I'm going to guess everything (or nearly everything) gets wrapped up.
I'm about to start it. I'll let you know for sure when I'm done. :):)

I'm still blushin' :)
Brilliant show though.
