Title Money Flower Spoiler
I hated Mo Hyeon's character. Naive and thinking she achieved her goal by punishing the "bad guys", while in reality…
Totally understand your points . But wouldn’t you say that that was their of self advocacy? That Mo Hyeon maintaining her character was a form of political warfare so she isn’t the system ?

The actor playing Moon Sang Tae deserves ALL of the awards! I love him so much, he's so precious. The whole brotherly…
Yes ! The guy playing MoonSang Tae is doing a splendid job !

Those Magda Butrym dresses the female lead wears are dresses made of dreams !

I heard the rating dropped. What's wrong with people? I'm an international fan but i want it to do it well on…
Domestic viewers have an interesting take different from international viewers . They like shows like Fiery Priest , Stove League and shows like My Mister . The fluff and aesthetics internationals rave on about is “been there , done that “ for the domestic market. Moreover- dramas that depict prevalent social issues are not very much appreciated to the extent that the international audience takes to these issues . Like Perfume that explores weight and many more

This drama is very aesthetically pleasing and exudes a very strong particular vibe. I can already see it’s not for everyone but it may one of THOSE shows that’s just objectively good .

I’m really glad that there’s a strong motif i.e the story book so hopefully the story will be tight . I’m so excited for the main leads . It’s refreshing to see an edgy female lead . I sense a childhood connection and honestly I’m not a fan of this thing that K Dramas have going on for them with this “fate , we knew each other as kids “ stuff . They better make that tight in this drama !

Am I the only one who liked this drama because of the female lead?
I personally found her to be lacking but I really admired how she never fell into a mould put before her . She had a spirited self determination .

My question still is, after epi 14; is he creating another reality or re-writing it? If so, what about Lee Rim's…
You are correct. It’s a time loop and not time travel

I hope in this case the motive of FATE will be interpreted in the way of Korean style, I mean eventually, characters…
I 100% second everything you said ! Cannot wait for the next episodes

Exactly. That is the balance.

I agree with you that perhaps fate will bring justice to the world. That YoYo character seems to assure us of this. However - in my opinion , I think fate is going to be inserted very lazily. The script is very convoluted and there is only 4 episodes left to wrap it up. I am very interested to see how tight the conclusion will be . What do you think?

I think that The writer is going use fate as a deus ex machina which is an unexpected power or event saving a seemingly hopeless situation, especially as a contrived plot device in a play or novel. I do not think we are going to get the nice Korean style.

Mechanical scripts are what use a lot of devices to explore things. Like a Sci Fi movie has to use science i.e mechanical elements. Its a term I picked up studying Christopher Nolan movies. He is my favourite film maker and he uses a bunch of mechanical scripts.

You are most welcome ! I like your emotional view. The virtue of the king and government is quite nicely explored in TKEM.

As for the policemen- well , I think you basically explained it ;-)"the ethos of virtue and government." In regular democractic places - the police are a big deal .The police aspect is to show how at the end of the day, whether you are royal with white horses and guards or a regular Joe, the quest for justice is just the same . The police angle is just a vehicle the writer has used to convey these points .Note how Head Court Lady Noh always refers to Ta-eul as a "government official" and perhaps an authority in matters.

Its also there to be a vehicle for fate that the writer seems to obsessed with. Note how the two policemen in the Republic are also policemen in the Kingdom . Ta-eul comments to Shin jae and says " like they are fated to be cops"

And the mechanical plot that is TKEM - in the end - everything should link up for the revelation of plot.

The episode where Prince Buyeong died was personally quite nice for me to see because TKEM got to show off some techinical skills. The episode revolved around the New Year . Lee Geon went back to the Republic and it was interesting to see that it was New Year in both but at diffferent times. He was so scared of missing it in the Kingdom showing that time has no application to him however fate does. Why? Because Buyeong said "every footstep you take leads you to your fate" and all this was surrounded by wistful music. Plus - the scene at the ocean was a huge set up. The same wistful music was played , Buyeong essentially said the same thing and they reamarked they ALWAYS spend the Lunar Year there together as if this may be the last time. Death was in the air. The filter and repetition was the cinemati cue for us . And 20 mins later - he dies . I hope that helps

So set up is a lot of things but techinically, its when the director and his/her team put together scenes and dialogue to build up a momentous scene or foreshadow it. Then the editing team use effects like filters , music etc to give cinematic cues to the viewer. I must admit that presentation of set ups in TKEM are not the most stunning but they are still there. They are intergral to any script. When there is no set up ; thats when things like plot twists come about.A huge set up is the poems read by Head Court Lady Noh , Tae-ul's monologues and Na-ri's ideas. In episode 10 - they used a whole character and his words and actions as set up :Prince Buyeong,In the spoiler tag - I mention how I see set up.

Speaking to your point about subplots and how the main idea is hardly recognisable- I absolutely agree with you. However , the main idea , in my assessment , is time/eternity : a state to which time has no application; timelessness hence eternity. Lee Geon has become someone where time essentially has no application to him. Hence that is the title The King Eternal Monarch. So we are essentially watching his and the others encounters with time and eternity and the mechanics used is the flute that brings about the portal. The sub plots are actually then , mostly fluff in my opinion.

I hope this helps. Please click the spoiler ;-)

Fate is definitely a really big mechanical aspect of this story . I also hope they do it Korean style
