Ooooh I didn't notice that discrepancy, truth be told I've only seen four of the dramas you mentioned as male celebrity examples (and I dropped two of them half way though), so maybe I also inadvertently veer away from dramas like this. I'd highly recommend Encounter :)) I've seen it three times, and loved it more each time. I have seen Into The Ring- I watched it with my mum and we both highly enjoyed it- another great example of a loving, respectful relationship where both the FL and ML are on equal footing. I've read up on Lovely Horribly previously, and I don't plan on watching it lol. I've recently started watching Jealousy Incarnate, and I've been meaning to watch Kkongdae Intern but haven't gotten around to it. Thanks for the other recommendations!
Such a well written article, thank you for sharing :)) I tend to try to steer away from dramas who portray the FL as both extremely weak minded and financially unstable- it irritates me that drama land feels the need to continue to conform to these 'big powerful man saves helpless woman in distress' kind of tropes. Two of my favourite dramas are Encounter and Touch Your Heart, and when I compare the dramas and what I like about both of them I realise that there are actually many similarities between the two; mostly it's that the FL's, despite them both having their individual problems, never fully rely on the ML's. Yes, the ML's both help the FL's grow as people and support them as any partner would- but it wasn't ML sweeps in to save FL. I've recently established a huge distaste for rude ML's who only start liking the FL once she sticks up for herself and shows that she's 'not like other girls' who grovel at the ML's feet. I think that's another major reason that I like the two dramas that I mentioned above so much. The ML's were never arrogant, rude jerks- and I don't mean that ML's have to be particularly smiley and have absolutely no personality trait other than being the 'nice male lead' (I'm looking at you Intense Love), but I'd prefer that they're not complete assholes like so many ML's are. Anyway, I sort of went off on a tangent there- but thanks again for the wonderfully written article, I really enjoyed reading it.

I understand the story behind it and the actions of the ML as a psychologist, but it still came across to me like the writers were trying to make the scene humorous. Mostly what got to me were bits further to the end of the episode, when the ML told the mutual friend not to explain the situation and instead to continue to keep the FL in the dark. It made me feel as if the ML was like, 'hehe, she thinks I abuse my girlfriend, this is a funny misunderstanding'. Even under the circumstances that he fell in love with the Fl at first sight, this doesn't justify joking around like that,
I've seen you comment similar things on a different drama's page, and I really don't see your point in commenting things like this. We're taught as children that if we don't have anything nice to say then don't say it- maybe you should filter the things that come out of your mouth and learn that some things are better left unsaid.
The first episode really annoyed me, it seemed as though they were making a joke out of physical abuse and that just didn't sit well with me. Physical abuse is not a joke, and yet it came across as though the ML was stringing along the FL's misconception that he is an abuser because he finds it amusing.

I'd say yes, watch it- it's a short drama, so even if you don't particularly like it you haven't invested much time in it so it doesn't really matter. It's not an incredible drama, but I'd still say it's worth the watch :))
I'm really excited to see Kim Sung Chul in a new drama, I enjoyed his performance in Prison Playbook so much- hopefully he'll get even more screen time in this one <3
