I was really looking forward to your rating on this one. It's been 24 hours, I still cannot decide on how exactly I should rate this. They intrigued us a lot in the first half, but the latter half felt like a complete mess. Indeed, not following the novel led them to many plotholes.
With the additions they made to Chen Shufa's character and Liu Mo's existence, the rest of the 'victims' stories felt quite bland and unimportant. At the end of the drama, I only remember Chen Shufa's greedy villainous and self esteemed personality, and yup, as you mentioned, the pair of star crossed lovers.
The last 10 mins, I have no comments on that. There's no way I could ever decipher the reason behind them leaving a person with murderous and suicide intent all by himself, just to call for help. That was the stupidest reason they could give for the aftermath.
But, well, despite that, I still cannot deny how the drama kept me hooked!

This is ridiculous. If according to everyone's assumption( considering the fact that most of time your assumptions have come true), HCS is really alive and changes side, then his whole character sketch would make no sense. Besides, there's no redemption for a monster like his character, cause he seems to have mental issues since the beginning! It isn't about his greed, but about his unilateral and psychotic obsession to his 'belongings'.
So, it's fairly impossible to give him a redemption arc. So if the drama actually pulls this stunt at the end, then I will be left with no words, cause this would be most insane 'redemption arc'!

I am not very positive about Gong Yu at this moment considering, it has been there since months, secondly, it has had many popular actors and actresses as rumours. Based on what I have noticed, most of the times, these projects use popular actors and actresses with huge traffic as rumored cast and later on shift to newbies or rising stars.
But still hoping somewhere that she gets that for her next project.

My gut feeling telling me that things aren't probably gonna end even in this season 🤦🏻‍♀️!

And tbh, penthouse was a total nonsense despite all that, it got funded for season 3, but I can't seem to say the same for this one, cause this probably the lowest viewership I have seen in mdl for kdramas all these while.

Omg, I mentioned this before too. LUCA emits better main character vibe and has more appearence than any of the leads here.
The story basically revolves around LUCA and it's astonishing power since 2nd episode of first season!

Hmm, yes and no maybe. Well since the drama isn't complete I can't be sure about this part yet. But there are lots of details missing here. I actually started reading from Cheng Hao's arc. In the novel, the truth is presented very directly. Like, since we have already made some assumptions, I will be very Frank.
We all can deduce that these guys may not be telling the truth, but in the novel either they tell the truth directly or they probably recollect the truth what actually happened. We don't really see people revealing half truth. The things they are mentioning are all partial truth. Since we are only halfway through, ig they will revealing the truth in the next half of the story.
Ig that's all the difference they kept just to intrigue the viewers. So basically they are indeed following the plot until now, but made slight difference in revelation to present the suspense better.

Let's wait and see what this brings us to. We have just been through half, we still have another half to go. Anything can happen.

Well, just read the novel, it has like 10 chapters. Hmm, I feel if they are really following the novel completely, the story isn't gonna disappoint. Besides, we still gotta doubt these people's words. What if they are sharing half truth or what if they are all lying?

Maybe all of them have done something very bad before? Cause I literally cannot believe if ML actually decided on his victims based on his radar eyes. He can't possibly deduce his victim's personality just by looking at their face.

Umm, if I go for literally the least twisted theory, then he is possibly Fei Ke's brother. The guy spun all the lies, but remember in charity with CJJ, he admitted having a little brother or cousin, something like that, so may be Liu Mo is his cousin/brother.
