That's sad. Douban users seem to be badly against the director and costume.
Otherwise it's such an elemental drama. Why not focus on drama instead of spreading hate. When the director has already apologised for his mistake, why do they make things difficult for the actors involved. It's not like they were wrong.

Well compared to my experience of watching cdramas for 4 years, and watching the very famous wuxias and xianxia with 50+ episodes, I think MJTY pretty stuck to the plot. There was not even a single extra or unneeded plotlines.every single thing ( gong family pov) was pretty much explained in the end. And all knots were well tied.

Also jin jing(the girl who acted GZS) is actually that type of person in real life in screen. She is overdramatic likable type of person. So I think older sisters character was meant to be like that. It wasn't 'made' like that because of the so called stereotype or stuff you are saying.
They wouldn't have asked a girl who resembles to that sort of character pull off the character if they were on for discrimination.

And if you have watched the drama well, I don't remember them ever making her character funny because of her face or figure. She was shown as 'acting carefree and lovelorn' because she never gained the respect and love from parents that she deserved.

Besides not everyone here is chinese, and not everyone here has been engaged with the likes c-ent for a long time, so it's normal that a lot of people won't know much about these things.

It may sound that they have lot more popularity than main leads in the drama, but that won't be same when they act as individuals.
I have seen many artists who gain huge popularity as second leads but when they have individual dramas, a lots of people won't even remember them.
That's because if you consider, 70% people here become fans of their character. Out of them only 50% of that 70 really end up liking them as individual and not just as character.
And out of this 50 there's still 30% who still care about script, and won't just watch drama because they like the actor.
So we have only 20% of 50% who may end up watching them and following.
So looking over it, they haven't yet developed a strong fanbase to the point that they would have much data viewers in their own drama.

Umm so I think maybe they should work with a few popular actors first to build their own database. Only if they manage atleast 3-4 strongly attractive roles and have an unique personality not as an character but as actor, they would be able to go on same level as leads.

Only if we have honor to expect a season 2. Otherwise our thoughts and scenes are probably gonna stay in the fragments of our imaginations forever. 😭

Well tbh, if you analyse carefully. The story is actually pretty much covered without any cliffhangers from gong family pov. Only wufeng pov is left. So well, if they had really planned 2 seasons at the beginning then the story is actually over.
