don't bother w/ the commenters hating on the fl. every single show has fl haters for genuinely no reason. oh wait...…
some people think that FL is just a property for their beloved ML, that's why they don't bother showing their misogynist comments. remember how some people here said if it was another man LMT the ungrateful b*tch would be thrown away like a rag doll after being used? 😂 people like these are only able to see perspective from men. men men men and men. even small things could be considered as bullying their man. men on the highest pedestal, men always right and justified

this drama was sooo cringe but i enjoyed it back then!
i remember how this drama made me laugh, after being sad for weeks. this cringy and corny drama hold special memory in my heart. although i will never rewatch it again, especially in my grown up ass. the good memory will be ruined if the adult me watching this sh*t. listening to their ost is enough lol

also i still love both the main leads so much

Where did you hear that? Most side characters have their happy ending. Only Li Jing who's sad

underrated, but NOT flopping. the engagement from big accounts who talk about this drama is relatively not high…
you're the one who misunderstand haha.
liuliang ALWAYS have high heat index because they have more active fans to create data for them, they called liuliang (traffic stars) for a reason. so their data and ranking are always good, but that doesn't mean all of their dramas are mega hit! most likely, only popular within their own circle, not out of circle. although there are dramas that successfully out of circle.

i never say weibo is the actual parameter, but the mega hit one ALWAYS effortlessly show up on trending everyday.

you also mistook things weibo followers lol. just because someone has 20M followers that doesn't mean they have 20M people to make data for them. everyone follow someone for many purposes, could be business, entertainment, fans, etc. someone like Angelababy has 100M followers but she isn't even big 4 female liuliang (the 4 big female liuliang are Dilraba, Yang Mi, Zhao Liying and Yang Zi), even though the followers of Dilraba, Zhao Liying and Yang Zi are less than Angelababy. you get it, right?

there are many hit dramas even tho the casts weibo followers' are under 5M. for example, drama Ancient Love Song. it's considered as one of the small hits in 2023. The FL, Zhang Yaqin only has 1.5M followers anyway. she never had representative works too before, doesn't have enough active fans to make data for her. the point is, that drama successfully out of circle, and the word of mouth among general public is strong. Joy of Life too, its not because of Zhang Ruoyun's weibo followers, but because the word of mouth was extremely strong although he is not a liuliang/traffic stars. general public recognition >>>>>

until now you understand right?

as for now Are You The One is still not blockbuster drama, but NOT FLOP, but the word of mouth is getting better. good heat index is not enough. and to be honest, being #1 drama this month doesn't mean they're #1 of the year. plus in c-ent they categorize popularity data based on TV drama, Online drama, etc. we're currently still in halfway, if the plot doesn't downgrade they still have chance to be more popular. and ofc what i'm saying is just per today, maybe their fate is different next week (could be a blockbuster too). I'm not a God anway, I can't predict anything.

also, sorry for being OOT. i don't think you understand about how fans increase data for their faves. they create data on weibo tho, also on wechat, and platforms. saying weibo has nothing to do with data is wrong. also, if someone trending on hot search it could increase their data or image too. that's why some celebrities sometimes buy hot search, marketing from YXH or buy water armies lol. But you can tell whether the buzz is fake or not, and it also usually reflects on their endorsements and resources after that.

no but like genuinely, why the hell is the rating so low. Are we all watching the same drama? Im starting to feel…
well from 8.0 to 8.3 is so much better than from 8.7 to 8.3.
and this drama's rating has increased from 8.0 to 8.3
in conclusion this drama is 8.3 but in positive way

the popularity is still not out of circle. it's not huge blockbuster like you said. they barely trending on weibo, only 2-3 times per week and the rank are not that high. if you compare it to the real huge blockbuster like Joy of Life who trended everyday with so many # per day and most engagement posts has 100k+ likes, the gap is big. but Are You The One is definitely NOT flopping. we still have hope because the word of mouth are getting better and better.

How is this drama doing in China? Is it doing well?
underrated, but NOT flopping. the engagement from big accounts who talk about this drama is relatively not high compared to usual drama that is considered popular. if you are used to checking trends on weibo you'll understand the difference. but passersby reviews to recent eps are all positives, and praised the main leads. some scolded the PR who sucks at marketing and said this drama deserved better marketing cuz how interesting the drama is.

just read a blogger's review on weibo about this drama that is worth to read especially to people who are still hestitating to try this drama:

"After watching twelve episodes of Liu Zhou Ji, I feel that it is worth following, and the male and female protagonists are not the kind of thin settings that can be seen at a glance. Cui Xingzhou, played by Zhang Wanyi, is very interesting - he plays "The Truman Show" with Liu Miantang in front of people, and plays "Selection of Concubines" with his cousin behind people. But in these two plays, Cui Xingzhou is not a Taoist actor who manipulates the script, he is just an actor with a little say.

In order to catch Lu Wen, Cui Xingzhou puts himself in Cui Jiu's skin and creates a script kill for Liu Miantang.
Liu Miantang's character is a virtuous wife who was injured and lost her memory after an accident. Her husband is Cui Jiu, a chess player who can't do anything, even chess, but is willing to spend all his family wealth for his wife.
Everyone has their own duties, their own lines, and their own moves.

But [in this play, Cui Xingzhou is the only one who makes the fake play seems real].
Liu Miantang didn't know that this was fake, so she made porcelain business and found painters to join the famous Porcelain Guild. Every step was to support this family and to love Cui Jiu.
——Every action of hers came from the heart and from the heart.

Cui Xingzhou knew that this was fake, so he reminded others every day that this was not his wife, but later he asked others to treat her as his wife.
He knew who Liu Miantang was, knew who he was, and knew what his goal was, but he was still lost in the love that he could not help, and he was no longer willing to let go. ——Everything Cui Xingzhou did was also from the heart.
[A not so upright beginning, but such a sincere ending].

As the Lord Huaiyang, Cui Xingzhou enjoyed unlimited respect, but also endured too much pressure that could not be explained to outsiders.
He had to marry his cousin whom he was already engaged, even though he really loved Liu Miantang in his heart.
But he didn't think that they had to separate after marrying his cousin.
Because in that particular era, the prince could marry several concubines.
And He Zhen, the daughter of an imperial merchant, and Liu Miantang, who was unknown, had to be concubines.
This was not Cui Xingzhou's personal idea, but the unified cognition of the entire dynasty at that time.

Therefore, he asked Liu Miantang's wishes, which was a respect for his beloved and an effort for the future of both of them.
He did not allow his cousin to contact He Zhen again, because he did not want He Zhen to lose her status and his love. This was his appropriate kindness to an excellent girl, because He Zhen should not have lived out her life alone in the backyard, she should have a more exciting life.

Cui Xingzhou played different roles in the two vests. Cui Jiu is a timid loving wife, and the Lord Huaiyang is vigorous and resolute. This is recognizable. In fact, seeing how good he and Liu Miantang are now, I am a little afraid of being exposed.
Overall, I think drama Liu Zhou Ji is good."

the blogger added her comment under that post,

"To be honest, you can't just listen to rumors. I saw a lot of people saying that this drama is not good, the male lead is not good, and they don't want to watch it anymore. But after watching it myself, I can only say that I like the plot very much, and there is nothing wrong with the male lead. On the contrary, I feel that Wan Yi is indeed suitable for playing political dramas."

agree. don't let anything from novel influence our judgement. the drama deviated so much from the novel anyway, lets keep an open mind
