This is the first story in this series that I really like. It comes across like a well written chamber play. There's no artificial or unnecessary drama, but a realistic story. The acting is on point, and I'm happy to see Milk again - he was one of my favourites in "War of Y".
I started watching this series as a big fan of Mark Siwat, but episode 1 already captivated me. The story is heartwarming, teaching lessons about life without preaching. There's a wonderful blend of funny and contemplative moments , and all the actors are amazing. It's great to see Mark, Plan, and Prom excel beyond BL, and Rudklao dancing in her Adidas sweatpants was really something! I sincerely hope that there'll be an announcement saying "Return to Homestay coming soon" - maybe with the boys meeting Grandma's ghost?
Roughly speaking, a "lakorn" is kind of a Thai telenovela, often dealing with Thai history, legends, or mystery stories. In contrast to most BL series, "Linger" and the other two I mentioned do without the typical BL tropes and settings, although of course the lead couple are gay men.
Recently, the best Thai BL series weren't really BL, but Lakorns with a gay couple - "To Sir, with Love", "Laws of Attraction", and "I Feel You Linger in the Air". Good scripts, good directing and overall production quality, and actors who know how to act. Nonkul and Bright are both as fantastic as Film and Jam.
The fact that episode 2 released 5 hours ago and there's not a single comment for the day really goes to show…
It's one tragedy that Xion Lim is able to grab more sponsors' money than the complete Pinoy BL industry combined. It's another tragedy that everybody who works for him is worse than in everything else they do - just think what a beautiful series Easy Ferrer created in "The Day I Loved You", and what a crappy script he delivers here. Angel Grace America proved that she can act in "My Freaky Love Story", and if you've seen Gio Emprese in "Meet My Angel", you know that he is a brilliant actor, but here... James Ramada is a great actor, both on stage and in series, like in "Twinkle Twinkie Little Star" and "Osmosis", but here he's overacting all the time.
The saying goes "saving the best till last". How bad that this series airs early Friday mornings where I live, so the best comes first, and all the other series of the weekend feel second best or worse.
After "Love Mechanics" I had high expectations for their series "Future", but was disappointed. With this miniseries, however, Boom and Bigboom are back on track. Maybe starring in a full series was too early for them.
There seem to be more secrets at that school than just the twin sister's suicide/murder. I've watched the first two episodes with English subs so far, and the production quality is good. First 5 episodes are free on IWant TFC.
The could turn out to be the most disciplined Oxin Films production yet, which isn't to say the first episode…
The new PE teacher is Kiel Aguilar, who only played in the BL series "Osmosis" before. Most characters in "Osmosis" were disabled, e.g. James Ramada played a boy with selective mutism. Unfortunately the series isn't online any more, because the producer made a short film ("Unseen", about a D.I.D. person) based on a part of the series which has been submitted to various film festivals and won many awards.
This has been a big surprise. I found it a bit confusing at first, but it's become one of my favourite KBLs, although I'm not even sure if I should call it BL, because it does without most of the annoying BL tropes. Thanks to an intelligent script, the developments of the three couples feel natural and realistic, the acting is fine, the chemistry good, and the final episodes were very beautiful, with exactly the right amount of comedy.
I feel like this show is making no noise and no one is talking about it.. is it worth it ?
This one's better than any other time travel series, and like "To Sir, with Love" rather a Lakorn with BL elements than just BL. Cinematography, writing, directing, and acting are way better than most BL series. Is it worth spending 75 minutes a week on it? I think it is.
